Can you answer: What is "The Truth"?

i mean can someone, preferably an active jw, explain in 5 sentences or less what that really means?.

i ask because of the long post that "20571..." made on another thread about how "the truth" is better than this, that and the other thing.. what does it really mean?.

Huh? What multiple truths? I support biblical, historical, orthodox Christianity on the essentials. Peripheral issues like Calvinism vs Arminianism vs Open Theism are debatable and believers have freedom to formulate convictions based on Bible without compromising the essentials.

I affirm ONE God, not multiple gods like Mormons, Hindus, and JW with God and a god.

I do not own truth, but I can believe truth. God is either triune or solitary. He is not both. Jesus is either God or created being, not both. One statement is true and defensible, while the other is false. We can show why Islam is not truth. We can also show that Christianity is true, not Buddhism. Relativism blurs distinctions between truth and error, but revelation demands absolutes (whether we find them or not).

Jehovah's witness meetings are NOT BORING......

i'd get an almond and see how long i could suck it before i chewed at it.

i'd imagine playing rock'n'roll on the congregation's piano.. how did you get through the meetings when you were bored?.

Falcon: If they really were doing God's work and will, there would be satisfaction and merit to it all. Since it is just a manmade cult that is actually condemning people who buy into its message, it is a horrific delusion/waste of time, money, energy (cf. Mormon genealogical research and baptisms for the dead).

The same is not true of those who know and serve the Living God and even lay down their lives sharing the gospel. There is nothing more important than this and the reward will be great.

A false counterfeit does not disprove the genuine, so don't throw the baby out with the bathwater (Dawkins would assume all religion is idiotic and waste of time instead of seeing the great truth and benefit of the real thing).

God does righteously judge evil individuals and nations. In the NT Church Age of Grace, He does not strike people dead (just exceptionally). The point is in a context of marriage, family, cults, relationships, shunning, etc. Cults break up families, but Christianity supports family/marriage even if there is difference of religious opinion. God's judgments are not a parallel issue.

Revelation is canonical, inspired and shows the love and justice of God. It shows that good will triumph over evil and God's providential hand is on the saints. It gives us hope of a glorious future where evil will no longer exist and God will rule and reign forever in a New Heavens/Earth. It is NOT about fear and control, just facts and a glorious future for those who trust vs rebel against God. It is a revelation of Jesus Christ, love incarnate (but not divorced from His holiness).

This practice is manipulative and controlling, not redemptive like it should be. God does not destroy families and gives us significant freedom. There is a place for biblical discipline, but the WT practice is anything but biblical.

Are babies in the meeting or in a nursery. Are all children in the regular meeting or is there a children's ministry separate somewhere? Making a young child sit through an adult meeting is retarded.

The written Word, the Bible (Ps. 119), is truth from God, but it must be translated and interpreted properly (leaves out WT and NWT).

The Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ is also Truth (Jn. 14:6). We must trust the real Jesus (YHWH in the flesh), not a counterfeit WT christ (Michael).

Sound doctrine is also truth as is the gospel (Rom. 1:16). Again, the WT is ignorant of truth in too many essential areas. Biblical, historical, orthodox Christianity best reflects divine revelation in Scripture/Christ. Pseudo-christian cults do not have the answers and twist Scripture to their own destruction.

I have never heard of a celestial eucharist interpretation of Revelation. Sacramentalism is not biblical. A normative literal approach must lead to futurism, while a subjective allegorical approach opens the door to anything and everything.

Rev. 1:19 is the key to interpretation. Rev. 1 is past and about Jesus. Rev. 2-3 is present to John and talks about first century historical churches. Rev. 4-22 is yet future (futurist view) and mostly about the Tribulation (6-19). It is apocalyptic literature, not historical. A normative literal approach leads to pre-tribulation rapture, pre-millennial Second Coming. For the WT to read 1935 JW Convention into this section shows that it is clueless about Bible interpretation.
