JWs are scared of everything. Using their logic, Paul the supreme Christian was demonized. Demons lie to them on doctrine and practice.

Jehovah's witness meetings are NOT BORING......
by punkofnice in...i was told but they usually were as i look back.. as a lad i'd sit and look to see who the lights would fall on.
i'd get an almond and see how long i could suck it before i chewed at it.
i'd imagine playing rock'n'roll on the congregation's piano.. how did you get through the meetings when you were bored?.

If JWs Come To Your Door How Will You React?

They are a mission field at my doorstep, a divine appointment. I tend not to invite them in because my 3-legged mini-pin Chompers would bark and maybe bite (tempting, so I talk on the doorstep. Would a JW ever invite me to their home to talk/study if I preferred that? I will study with a JW until the bitter end, but they rarely want to continue if they know I am informed (I guess I become the spawn of Satan if I teach rather than helplessly need to be taught).

How many gods are there?
by jgnat inchristianity was birthed in a polytheistic world, inheriting from jewish roots the concept of one g-d. now, instead of one god for israel, we are offered one god for the whole world.
caesar (mortal men) was declared a god.
gods had powers beyond ordinary men, could grant requests, and demanded sacrifice and worship.

Heb. 1 links faith and evidence vs divorces the two. Faith in a lie is false presumption. Faith in something real/true/evidence-based is solid. Again, faith is not a blind leap in the dark, but is based on knowledge/evidence, even if incomplete or inadequate (probability/weight of evidence).

D: Epicurus' trilemma from B.C. (your BCE) has been adequately answered by Alvin Platinga's free will defense, etc. Get with the program. There are answers to your concerns/questions.

People with sound doctrine, including in the first century, could be sinful in practice (see Corinthians). Again, there is a difference between Jim Jones (false doctrine and practice) and a true Christian who does wrong things. There is a difference between an atheist fornicating and a Christian fornicating. Both are sinning, yet one is a Christian and the other is a godless atheist. The issue is core belief vs degree of perfection. We do not condone sin in anyone, but theism vs atheism is another polar matter.

I agree that legit churches can do wrong things because they have fallible people in them. Doctrine and practice should be consistent, but are not always so. There is a difference between a false cult doctrinally and a Christian church with sound doctrine. Leaders in either group may be immoral, but that would be contrary to their teachings, not consistent with it (except old Children of God cult and their flirty fishing prostitution 'evangelism').

The OT reveals truth from God through Judaism. The OT and NT God is YHWH. The NT (JW Christian Gk. Scriptures) gives fuller revelation of God in Christ and the Holy Spirit. The triune God is hinted at in the OT, but fully revealed in the NT (progressive revelation). Hebrews shows that the OT Judaism is the shadows/types with reality revealed in Christ. Now, Judaism and Christianity are distinct and Jews are wrong to reject Jesus as Messiah-God. In the OT, Judaism was the true faith. Islam is not Judeo-Christian. Judaism is the foundation for Christianity. Jesus was Jewish, yet introduced a new way, the Church, Body of Christ, Jew/Gentile one in Christ. Failing to recognize this connection displays profound ignorance of the Bible. The OT is the Word of God as much as the NT is. Paul, the former Jew, understands the connection, but you totally do not.

True of some vs all. Personally, Charles Stanley is solid in content, but a sleeper as a presenter. I am used to dynamic, anointed preaching of God's Word. Guess I am spoiled.

God is uncreated, eternal Creator. He alone has existed without beginning or end. He is the uncaused First Cause who has always existed. We cannot understand this, it blows our mind, leads to worship. He has revealed Himself as such. No created thing comes from nothing. Everything except God has a creator. If there were an endless string of finite gods (LDS), then you would have an endless regression that is unexplainable. Gen. 1:1 God exists, period. We cannot understand this, but it is true. God is uncreated, period. This is the way it is. Like it or lump it.

Faith without facts/evidence is presumption. Faith is linked to knowledge, not no evidence. There is an element of faith that goes beyond evidence (so we can accept the trinity without exhaustively understanding it).
My view is monotheistic because I believe in one true God. One can call Allah a god, but he is non-existent, so just a false, so-called god, not a god in any true sense. If I was Mormon, you could call me polytheistic, because they teach plurality of gods, tritheism, etc. (Father, Son, Spirit/Ghost are 3 separate gods among many evolved gods, not one eternal spirit of God). Only YHWH is true God, eternal. Anything else is created or imaginary, people making a god out of it, but not recognized by God as god (see Isaiah where YHWH forms no gods before or after Him and recognizes no God since He alone is God). Finite godism/polytheism is an indefensible worldview, just as pantheism/panentheism are failed, false philosophies.
You can invent any kind of personal view/faith you want, but that does not make it objectively true or defensible. Biblical, historical, orthodox Christianity is based on revelation/evidence (resurrection of Christ; claims of Christ), not reason or presumption. Christianity is not an existential, Kierkegaardian blind leap of faith, but one based on reality/facts. Apologist Francis Schaeffer (now dead) would be worth a read since he decimates false worldviews in his defense of the Judeo-Christian view based on Scripture, God's objective revelation. Using your subjective ideas leads to a relativistic, syncretistic mess.
