Herbert W. Armstong was a cultist like Charles T. Russell. He actually borrowed JW, SDA, Mormon, etc. ideas to make his new religion. He was deceived and deceived others. After his death, the Holy Spirit performed a great miracle and led the group into orthodox belief and practice (though some retained sectish control issues, etc.). There are also splinter groups that side with old Armstrong. His writings do not have the answer. Don't jump from the fire into the frying pan, but do some research on the WWCOG.

Do you yearn to know what we are, and why we are here, before you die?
by sabastious inlets face it, we don't know what humans are.
science is doing a good job at uncovering many facts about us, but even science cannot explain consciousness yet.
conciousness is still a strong mystery to us.

The Bible does not teach us calculus, but it does teach us the minimum we need for abundant and eternal life.
If there is no life after death, eat, drink, be merry for tomorrow we die like dogs.
If there is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun, our purpose is to know, love, glorify God and bring as many people to Him as possible in love. There will be no U-hauls behind hearses.

How many gods are there?
by jgnat inchristianity was birthed in a polytheistic world, inheriting from jewish roots the concept of one g-d. now, instead of one god for israel, we are offered one god for the whole world.
caesar (mortal men) was declared a god.
gods had powers beyond ordinary men, could grant requests, and demanded sacrifice and worship.

There is no historical inaccuracy in Scripture. Time eventually reveals supportive evidence for many things once doubted.

What could be more important than issues relating to life and eternity. The Bible gives us all we need to know about life, God, life after death, salvation, etc. JWs are not wrong to look to the Bible for answers, but they are wrong to mistranslate and misinterpret it and add the nonsensical rules of man to God's truth.
Death seals our destiny, so don't allow a negative experience with a cult to keep one from God/truth in His Word.

C.S. Lewis was an Oxford master of literature and myth. He rightly concluded that the Gospels/Christianity are NOT myth, but historical narrative/divine revelation. He was no dummy. The Gospels do not have the characteristics of pagan myth.

The only group I am aware of that partakes once/year are JWs and their memorial sham. The vast majority of Christian churches do it monthly with a few weekly. Regardless, it is not a salvation issue so should never divide us.
We should not minimize the differences between cults and Christianity nor should we over-exaggerate the differences between credible Christian denominations that have much more in common than a few pet differences that are not salvific.

Flyer for this summer's assembly
by loosie ini saw the flyer today for the summer assembly.
it talks about how people are ruining the earth.
in the upper left corner are the "evil" ones one man smoking, i think the other was drinking and then a pic of a dead seagull.

One convention I went to in jeans with a KIT (many years ago) had them following me like the CIA. There was no love just fear that I would talk to people. There was a very oppressive spirit and they wanted to escort me out (all I did was converse with someone during the lunch break, otherwise respectful of their meeting, no tracts). Last year, the meeting arena was a much smaller crowd and I felt like I was the only outsider and security seemed less KGB.

If it was a one time communion, I don't see why it would matter if one did it daily, weekly, monthly, yearly. A Billy Graham crusade could bring together hundreds of denominations centered around the gospel/Christ, so it is petty that form would preclude unity for one meeting.

Life after death
by truthseeker ineveryone has different views about life after death and whether or not it is a possibility.. as jehovah's witnesses, we were always taught that there is no life after death, that this is the only life we have now and that the wages of sin is death.. .
what are your views on life after death?.

Denying the Deity of Christ is a doctrine of demons. Heaven/hell is not occult, but biblical truth.

The biblical hope is based on what Christ has done for us, received by grace through faith. It is a heavenly hope for this Church Age. The cultic false hope is a works treadmill with the sword of Damocles of Disfellowshipping constantly hanging over one's head. The earthly hope is fine, but God wants us to see Him face to face and know Him intimately (vs run a clean up service for the millennium).
