OK, I see that they are still JWs at heart and are seeking to reform from within. This still goes against being a good JW in good standing, but they are standing up for their rights and freedoms (fine). I thought that they no longer believed WT propaganda. Since they still hold to WT doctrine (maybe not practices) on core areas, they would not have to leave (but would get kicked out if they were more transparent which may have some integrity; if you don't agree with the WT, go join Bible Students or some other splinter group or start your own; the org as a right to conformity and control, not to defend them, but...)? I think there is a difference between being principled and being judgmental.

Ah ha....do you know who it is and when is he going to get 'out'? It seems to me that the right thing to do is eventually take a public stand. It is misleading to the organization for people to not play by their rules (if you don't agree with them, don't pretend that you are in good standing) and not taking a stand to embrace God and His truth (renounce false religion and proclaim/defend true religion). I can appreciate that there may be issues of losing family, friends, job, and wanting to work from within to reach people, but...

Is Rev 5:11-14 Worship or Obeisance?
by JCISGOD98 ini asked a jw last week the following question, "is revelation 5:11-14 a worship act to the lamb or an act of obeisance?.
revelation 5:11-14 nwt states and i saw, and i heard a voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, and the number of them was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: the lamb that was slaughtered is worthy to receive the power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.
because it's an act of worship and it is not allow in your kingdom hall.

McGrath favorably reviews Bart Ehrman's book on Jesus. These guys are liberal scholars with a low view of Scripture, a denial of biblical, historical, orthodox truths. Conservative Christian scholarship is more credible and refutes these guy's new assumptions based on a move away from tradition and Scripture. Don't be like WT that looks for fringe sources to agree with them. It may sound good on the surface, but does not stand up to scrutiny. F.F. Bruce is an e.g. of a paramount NT scholar (now dead). These guys are modern yappers that are denying historical, biblical, orthodox Christianity.

Good content. Morgan Freeman, Charlton Heston, or James Earl Jones would be better narrators than spy-guy-in-a-can.

Better than nothing? The important stat is how many are raw converts vs JW teens, etc.

Q for all Christians (not just JW) about the ransom.
by Anony Mous inso this is the basic logical flaw in christianity i believe.
a brother identified it from the stage for me in a talk.
we all agree (as christians and jw's) that the ransom was necessary because adam lost his perfection and everlasting life.. this is a paraphrase from the talk:.

Eph. 2:8-10 Calvinist say that faith is a gift of God. The Greek grammar here actually links salvation as the gift of God. Grace is the Godward aspect (grounds), while faith in the manward aspect (conditions) involving our mind and will in response to the conviction and convincing of the Holy Spirit. This does not mean we save ourselves since we do not provide nor initiate salvation. If faith was a unilateral, causative gift, then why are all not saved (universalism; double predestination issues)?

Judas and Unforgivable Sin
by corpusdei ini'll be the first to admit that i haven't done the research on this one, and i can't remember the answer from my jw days - but there's something bothering me about the scenario of judas and his betrayal of jesus.. considering that the betrayal of jesus by judas was foretold in prophecy, it was essentially set in stone.
it was going to happen, it was an absolute because divine prophecy is correct.
judas had to betray jesus in order to fulfil prophecy.. now, i've always personally believed that a person does not sin by an act that they cannot avoid, but this seems like kind of the motherload of standing on the traintracks.

We need to read the book. Considering it is not super-influential, I am not as interested as I am with WT issues. I am sure if you google enough, you will see quotes compared with Scripture and why ACIM is not in line at all.

ACIM is New Ageish. Some things will sound biblical, but other things are simply contradictory. Does the link not hint at a few? I doubt you are into ACIM. I am just saying that it is not divine in origin. The Bible is sufficient and authoritative revelation from God (properly translated/interpreted, which precludes NWT/WT).

juni: This philosophy is bankrupt if there is a God and there is life after death (eternity). Religion will not go away despite atheistic predictions.
