question on friendship

someone just recently told me his opinion on friendship.

and now i am wondering what your thoughts are.

what defines friendship?.

Hi Viv,

A Friend in the truest sense to me is someone who:

Always accepts me as I am

Will not reveal personal information about me

Isn't afraid of defending me before others who speak lies about me

Will help me in my time of need even though it's not easy or convenient

Comes to me for opinions and can agree to disagree with me if we don't see eye to eye

Doesn't berate me when I have a not-so-great day and am clumsy about what I say or do.

Someone who appreciates the frienship that I have to offer in return.

no arguments, no fuss, i just wanted to leave.

i have been shunned by many family members all these years.

My first Post: Am I an ADULTERER?

today i visited my jw mother and i asked her a question.

i said, "mom if i was to get married would i be disfellowshiped?

" she said "well since you didn't have scriptual grounds for your divorce i would guess that if you went ahead and got married you would be committing adultery.

Good questions you have.

Since you are asking for a view on this topic using JW "logic" the only thing that occurs to me is this scripture. It is the one in which Jesus said that "anyone who keeps on looking at a woman so as to have passion for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." So there exists adultery in an emotional sense.

Often when one spouse feels neglected and suspects the other is being unfaithful, there wouldn't be any real "proof" of adultery. However, if a person is feelling so "unloved" and emotionally abandoned in a relationship, I'd say that is enough grounds to end the marriage and perhaps find someone who really appreciates and loves you.

To deny someone this basic emotional fullfillment would have sad consequences to say the least and it would lead to people being trapped in a loveless marriage having no recourse and no hope to ever be happy.

Just some thoughts.

Are You Influenced By Looks?

on friday night i watched a report by abc tv's john stossel (in the normal 20/20 time slot) that dealt with how humans are influenced by looks.

it was a re-broadcast, and even though this was the second time i've seen it it was still fascinating.

to demonstrate whether we are influenced by appearance, several scenarios were set up, involving people considered attractive and those considered more 'plain'.

Am I influenced by looks?

Well, let me see. I totally would not have a friendship with a person that was super good-looking but lacked simple courtesy or good manners. So looks alone don't carry a relationship anywhere.

On the other hand. Someone who possesses rare qualities such as... understanding, sense of humor, kindness, and sensibleness becomes beautiful to me and they shine!

Sound odd but it's so true in my case.

before my dad went into surgery he asked that i contact the people on this board and let them know how much it ment to him much it ment to him over the past month or so to be able to talk with all of you.. this is one of the few things in his life he could still enjoy.dad wanted to especially thank craig (ona ) for accepting him and apologies for anything he said that might have offended you.. my father was in so much pain over the past seven years ,god must have thought it was time,dad passed a few houres after surgery.. dad asked not to have a service and will be cremated than placed in an urn ( as he said "so he can keep an eye on mom" ) we all loved him deeply and he will be missed.

i will leave the company email should anyone want to,i will print them out for mom and the family to read.. again thanks to all, our love is with each and every one of you.. matthew mc cune [email protected]

I am at a loss for words. Please accept my deepest sympathy. I didn't get to talk to Paul very much, but he was a very enjoyable person and will be missed.
