  in compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".

  the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).

  my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

  Is that just a Canadian matter that they have a copyright on the name "Jehovah's Witnesses"?

  Those two words are directly taken from a Bible verse ---anyone should be free to use any part of the Bible as a Domain name. What if someone sets up a website called "Why I left the Jehovah's Witnesses" or "WHY I Left the Watchtower" is that going to be shut down too?

  feeling pretty smug.. a couple of months ago i cancelled my dd to the society.

  i have since been waiting to be struck by lightening, but as that hasn't happened, and i do feel i want to donate something, but wanted this time to think more carefully about it.

  today i decided on my charity and set up a dd.

  This looks like a maneuver to assure themselves a "market" for their 4th grade reading level publications. I guess because the house holders TM are smarter and wiser and aren’t contributing to the lawsuit fund world wide preaching work. TM

  If the subject comes up, I mention that fell for the cult but I am so glad to be out of it now.

  One of the signs of a cult is the members are taught to have an "US against them" attitude.

  By really believing this, they become social outcasts. The JW refusal to participate in the least offensive activites like Thanksgiving, extra curricular school activities, etc. reinforces this view in their minds. This is an unhealthy way of looking at other people because there are good and bad people in their own congregation, and there are good and bad people in the world. Believing that everyone who isn't a JW "bad or condemned and under Satanic influece" is unhealthy, not to mention a ridiculous distortion of reality.

  Re New Blood card, Statement of Witnesses

  what would happen if i refused to sign the no-blood card, and carry it with me?.

  the statement of witnesses states that i am under 'no duress or undue influence'.

  The blood card scanned states that whoever signs it agrees there is "no fraud." However
  the card itself has contradictions: It lists "hemodiluiton" as an optional procedure. (by definition it ANH invoves taking blood out, storing it in the operating room while the patient is being operated on, then infusing it back into the patient.) But if you read the top portion of the card it says the person is, by signing, refusing to PREDONATE his/her own blood.

  BACKGROUND: Despite the risks associated with transfusion, the medical community continues to view blood as a safe and abundant product. In this article, we provide an effective strategy to accomplish orthotopic liver transplantation without transfusion. STUDY DESIGN: From June 1999 through July 2004, 27 liver transplantations were performed in Jehovah's Witness patients at the USC-University Hospital (24 adults, 3 children). Nineteen of these were living donor (LD) and eight were deceased donor (DD) liver transplants. Preoperative blood augmentation with erythropoietin and iron was achieved.   Thursday night meeting woes(self sufficiency and blood)

  as yours trully is still attending meeting, i thought i might vent a little on what going on.

  i got there late, so i missed the first part.

  after 6 months, if I want to keep family peace, I gotta figure out a way to gracefully fade

  If you want to fade, one of the best routes is to change congregations. Start going to one that is as far from the "old" hall as possible. Is there a good friend from college who will graduate when you do?

  Could the two of you share expenses and be roomates? You could tell your parents you found a nice "room" for rent. This way they will just assume that the non-JW friend has only a business relationship with you.

  To make it all seem justified, go job hunting really close the the new neighborhood you want to move into. Many companies take college grads right out of school. Tell your parents as soon as you get settled you'll look for the hall nearest your new address (look for the hall isn't the same as go to the hall.)

  Anyway, that's one way i'd go about it.

  think that maybe i should replace my social circle before leaving, job and thoughts and then when i will have a backup frame i will leave the old one... last time i moved too fast

  Hi Genesis,

  You will find much support here. Many people have been in your situation.

  You already have a good plan: Replace your social circle. Find people at school or work that you can get along with and who won't judge you. They will help you to make the transition into the world OUTside of the Watchtower Organization. Feel free to post here as often as you like.
