Why did God wage war against the Canaanites?
by hamilcarr infrom the watchtower, january 1, 2010 (p. 13):.
why were the canaanites displaced?.
the canaanites were, in a sense, squatters in a land that did not belong to them.

Because they were teaching the truth.. that jehoober was a trumped up, tinpot little agricultural demon with delusions of grandeur...

Saw the thread title and thought "Depends on how long I've been 'warming her up'"
journey-on... how on earth do you conclude that subservient, selfish, narrow minded, forceful and stupid are sexist terms?

had second thoughts about divorcing my JW wife...
by oompa injust this week after being separated a little over two months....and funny cause i just got a pm from a newbie about what it is like to leave all...including your wife or husband....anyway, i spent the day with my wife and we talked about it...it is so sad....even though we are very different in natures...i again concluded there is enough in common to be happy and grow old and avoid the very high costs to both of a divorce....except we just cant figure out how to have totally separate friends and social lives....that is kinda big and may still be the deal breaker....soooooo frustrating and infuriating..........oompa.
here was my reply to the newbie pm:.
leaving was terribly hard as my wife is a wonderful and attractive person...my 22 year old son is also a good dub...and my parents are not real old yet and he is a hardcore elder.

The other problem with such an unhealthy life as that, is that she would (assuming she stays a good dubbie) be unable to have an intimate relationship with anyone ever again, which is both unfair on her and, since you seem to still care for her, would also be difficult for you to cope with, I suspect.

REINSTATEMENT !
by iknowall558 inluke 15 : 7 says : - .
"i tell you that thus there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner that repents than over ninety nine righteous ones who have no need of repentance.".
within the organization, the requirements for reinstatement of those who are disfellowshipped are 'repentance' of any any previous actions and attitude ; a demonstration of no longer practicing whatever 'sin' you got disfellowshipped for, as well as demonstrating submissiveness to the elders, the regulations, and the f&d slave.

Nice to meet you too, Iknowall.. imagine just a touch of amused, joking sarcasm and you'd have the tone about right.. (in my comment that is, not your post) and not directed at you, of course, the rest of your post makes your feelings and intent clear.. but hey, I have a warped sense of humour, and it refuses to stay locked up!

this is gunna be a long road to truth, looking at both sides. and i will need help
by Aussie Oz inconvinced as i 99% am that the wt society is all we have concluded, i feel i owe to myself and my children to be 100% convinced before actively trying to extract them.. first up i must say, doctrine is of little interest to me.
what gets me is the provable wrong-doing, the hypocrasy, cover-ups, double standards, you know what i mean i think.. on that sort of stuff, i feel it right to look at the counter arguments and proofs offered to explain the wt side of things, both by wt soc themselves and apologists.. therein lies the daunting road.
i grew up in the 'truth', so i never got to make sure of all things before getting baptised.

Cantleave, I guess you may not have read some of Aussie's early posts, so I'll give you some background info on his situation, since he's my brother, and he ain't here right now...
Aussie was the last of us 5 kids to leave..(I was first - the only one with any sense, I told them) the only one still in is our mother. She has never shunned any of us, for which we are very thankful. He left the BOrg about 10 years ago, as he felt he was not able to live up to Jahs expectations for him. He battled a few years of feeling lower than dirt, before he pulled through (with the aid of counseling) and built a new life for himself. He continued to believe it was the truth, and was an apologist until a little over a month ago, when he found this site. His eyes have been opened rather rapidly since then!
His marriage ended in divorce some time 2-3 years (I think) after he left. He has two children, now in their teens, still with their mother, who has re-married to a Dub. She is 3rd or 4th generation JW, so the kids have been soaking in it since birth. A big part of his problems is that he suspects pressure is, or soon will be, brought to bear on them to get dunked, effectively cutting them off from him, which would suit his bitch of an ex fine. (I can say that, coz she was a bitch-in-training even back in her early teens!)
He is now in the early stages of a legal battle for access to his kids, as he's tired of years of her jerking him around whenever it suits her. He's also trying (successfully, I think) to plant seeds with his kids (see his post by the same title) to try and rescue them from the BOrg, using the only access he has, currently once every 2 weeks.
Hopefully that puts his posts and this thread in a clearer context for you...

You say that like it's a good thing...

I Have a Theory - It Will Make The Society Tons of Cash
by Sam Whiskey ini have long held theory that the society can easily cease it's printing operations and increase it's profit margins.
follow this scenario.... as we all know, the printed word and accompanying illustrations in the wt and awake can be converted to pdf format (pdf is a format that can be locked so that the recipient cannot change the contents) upon the completion of each individual magazine.
it would therefore be very easy for the society to email or to put up on a server the wt and awake for retrieval by the presiding overseer of each congregation.

Yeah Sam.. sounds almost like you WANT those mu**af**kers to stay viable, instead of doing the decent thing and commiting hara-kiri.

World Conditions Continue to Improve
by zarco instartfragment.
as we enter into a new decade, it might make sense to look back to view the progress than mankind has made in these last days.. about 200 years ago everyone on the planet lived on the modern day equivalent of about $400 a year.
the exceptions were tiny nobilities.

While today something like two-thirds of the global population live on only a dollar or two a day and around 480 million to 1.5 billion earn between 10 and 20 dollars daily. Given the obscene amounts of money the upper echelons of 1st world countries have, and the fact that wealth still does not "trickle down" but continues to accumulate to the top 1% of society, to the detriment of the poor, I'd say it's a little too early to crow about world conditions improving.
