i'd like to call lurkers attention to the need of being discreet when contemplating joining or staying in the the jw religion.
my general observations on active jw's and how their lives are going.
the majority of them relate many beautiful ways their lives have turned out after joining but they refused to mention how rough and tough the journey truly is., here in america, we have received reports of many jws who terminated their lives because of the difficulty of coping with the cultish shunning and abandoment of those they love.
As I have said more than once on this forum:
"There is no greater freedom than being able to think and act in a way that is authentically YOU!"
here on this forum there are so many sinners, many here are doing things that will bring god's wrath upon themselves.
consider yourself if you in some aspect fit the description in romans 1:28-32:.
and just as they did not approve of holding god in accurate knowledge, god gave them up to a disapproved mental state, to do the things not fitting, filled as they were with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, badness, being full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malicious disposition, being whisperers, backbiters, haters of god, insolent, haughty, self-assuming, inventors of injurious things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, false to agreements, having no natural affection, merciless.

After enough beer, they're all layable..
are you from phil?
still an active jw's or not?.
In a country where family is everything, and "don't rock the boat" is a way of life, that's kind of to be expected.
If you're in a bar, stop wasting time on the internet and get back to business..
"woe to you, congregation elders, hypocrites!
because you shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for you yourselves do not go in, neither do you permit those on their way in to go in.".
"woe to you, congregation elders, hypocrites!
Stop holding back, Badfish.. tell us how you really feel...
Nice rant, btw..
on this forum, i have carefully read most of the experiences of those who left the jw religion, i have even read experiences that have dated back to 2001, i have read the different circumstances surrounding their exits and what ensued upon leaving.
for the majority, i observed they are better remainning in the religion than leaving.
what benefit is there to strain family relationship because you want to be free?, please tell me, of what value is that freedom?,.
After reading through all this (and fighting the urge to puke), I find it truly abhorrent that mankelli urges JW's to stay in, simply because things in the real world are (or can be) bad also.
Since you seem fond of slogans, mankelli, here is one that answers the question "Should I leave the borg?"
It is better to die on one's feet than live on one's knees!
birthdays.
i have always questioned the witness belief that birthdays are not to be celebrated.
another reason is that various customs that tend to accompany birthday celebrations have pagan origins.
There are some active JW's here, though mostly they are trying to leave, without getting into a situation where their "still in" family members will be forced to shun them.
Since you're in the Philippines, maybe it would help you to think of JW's as a little like the Iglesia ni Cristo, except much worse, and even more controlling.. (my GF is ex-Iglesia pinay, living in Manila)
