  Welcome Me Back... Please

  after a very long hiatus in which i organized my feelings, thoughts and actions, please take time to welcome me back to this fine forum.. i'm trapped inside the organization, with no end in sight whatsoever.

  however, i've learned to keep a pretty good balance of the inner and outter world; not perfect in, not perfect out, just keeping a good balance for my sanity's sake.. feels good to be back posting again.. dy.

  Do you reckon we could somehow get her to commit some terrible sin that would get her tossed out? Get some young stud to do such a good seduction number on her that she dumps her hubby maybe?

  It's Been A While...

  Thanks Tall Penguin.. that was a very touching story.. no tears but it certainly brought a lump to my throat.. nice to meet you. You brought back to mind a couple of wonderful brothers in congo's I was in, who actually went out of their way to bring some fun and joy into the lives of the kids.. it's so sad that they are few and far between in the bOrg.

  Just Thought I'd Share..

  we have some close, non-jw extended family staying with us....they drove 700 miles to get here.

  they will be here for a week....so far it's been about 5 days and my jw sibling has seen them for one hour.

  my sibling has been doing field service, family study, there's a meeting tonight, and family worship night.

  I wasn't saying I think jonathan's site is dumb, just that I think his comment was totally inappropriate.. suggesting AwSnap do something guaranteed to cause huge conflict in what ought to be a friendly family get-together.. and all just to push his site and his particular flavour of "christianity"..

  jonathan dough has gotten my goat a few times since I joined here, and at some point I can see myself tearing strips off his insensitive, arrogant arse..

  i'd like to know who you all are on the board.. you dont have to identify yourself personaly as i understand some need to be ingocnito.

  i am also curious to see if any of my old childhood and adult life friends have made it onto here.. me: lived in ballarat 70s, naracoorte in the 80s, adelaide in the 90s.

  traveled to york w.a as a teen and to alice springs and brisbane early twenties.. of course, if you need to be silent, thats fine too!

  Pinatas?

  i recall reading somewhere on this site that the pinata was originally used in worship of a sun god and that in spite of this, the wt society allows this tradition.

  is this true?

  i was presenting this conundrum to my wife and i wanted to verify this information..

But the article seemed to take the position that as long as it doesn’t bother someone’s conscience, it is OK. What about birthdays and holidays such as Christmas?

  “Awake!” responds: Christians refrain from any celebrations or customs that continue to involve false religious beliefs or activities that violate Bible principles. For example, the Bible definitely puts birthday celebrations in a bad light. (Genesis 40:20; Matthew 14:6-10) However, if it is very obvious that a custom has no current false religious significance and involves no violation of Bible principles, each Christian must make a personal decision as to whether he will follow such a custom.

  The 2003 article referenced above, in part says:

  We found that for many people in Mexico, the piñata has lost its religious significance and is considered by most to be just harmless fun. In fact, piñatas are used in Mexico on many festive occasions, not just for the posadas or for birthdays. And piñatas can be purchased in many forms other than the traditional star shape. They are sometimes made to resemble animals, flowers, clowns.

  When considering whether to include a piñata at a social gathering, Christians should be sensitive to the consciences of others. (1 Corinthians 10:31-33) A main concern is, not what the practice meant hundreds of years ago, but how it is viewed today in your area. Understandably, opinions may vary from one place to another. Hence, it is wise to avoid turning such matters into big issues. The Bible says: “Let each one keep seeking, not his own advantage, but that of the other person.”—1 Corinthians 10:24.

  Not a thrift store, garage sale, nursing home, laudromat, library, nor medical waiting room was left without scrawling JWN's addy on each page.... I even went after the Atalayas and Despertads.....to Mary's Spanish Ex-TJ site.

  Get a couple of rubber stamps made up.. then you can really go crazy!

  a cult is a religion that is said to be unorthodox or that emphasizes devotion according to prescribed ritual.many cults follow a living human leader,not jesus or god.and they live a part from the rest of human society.their meetings are in hiding, not just anyone can attend.you have to be a member.

  WTF?

  Since they dropped the book study group in homes, some JWs I know decided to get together on that night to do their own study. All hell broke loose! The elders of their congregation went mental! Anyone would have thought they were getting together for a satanic ritual! They were told that they were not to take it upon themselves to form their own group as this was dangerous and erroneous thinking would creep in.

  Can't JWs see the irony in this? A so-called Christian group bans its members from reading the Bible? WAKE UP all you JWs out there, please wake up! If this isn't a high-controlling cult, I don't know what is.

  Ok.. so I've been out for 25 years.. I'd heard the book studies had stopped.. but this? is this a common reaction? Is there a thread about it?
