Habits. Good, Bad and the power to change.
by Open mind inone of the benefits of mentally breaking free of jwism is that, if you allow it, at least twice a year you are provided with an external prodding to take stock of your life: your birthday and new year's.
so, what single good habit would you most like to cultivate in the near future?.
also, if you're so inclined, share the good habits that have benefited you most.

New good habits? Hmmm... nah.. pretty happy with what I have already.. I like myself as I am - it took a long time to get to that point, so I'm in no hurry to mess with what isn't broken.
And... I thoroughly enjoy every one of my bad habits, so I plan keeping them, thanks all the same..
Edit:
Just looking at the pics of my brother, Aussie Oz, and myself close together on the same page..
It makes it pretty obvious really.. he got the talent.. I got the good looks.. <evil grin>
sorry for the threadjack.. back to the Topic At Hand...

I don't believe anyone has the right to tell others how they should live their lives.
You've got to be kidding.
If someone steals your car, let's see how you measure up then.
That doesn't mean I don't reserve the right to beat the crap out of them if they fuck with me.. I'm an anarchist, not an idiot.

Does anyone find it too painful to read the WTS publications?
by dissed inbeen out 13 years and even for research purposes, i find it way too painful to read this wt stuff.. and why?.
all the painful memories it brings back.
don't misread me, it has nothing to do with a guilty conscience.. it has to do with the real pain, the anger of being ripped off and lied too by the wts, the anger of seing how they have protected child molesters, sacrificed its followers by refusing blood transfusions, the treacherous way we and others were treated by the 'unloving brothers'.

25 years out, and it's still like dragging coarse sandpaper across an open wound.
Listening to recordings is even worse..

insignificance and arrogance
by Aussie Oz inthis evening the wife and i went for a walk on the beach, something that never fails to make me feel small and insignificant.
i stand on the edge of this huge island called australia looking out to the curve of the horizon.
this is a small planet, floating in its own blue atmosphere, floating in our tiny galaxie, in its own little solar system, in its slightly larger section of the unmeasurable universe.. we are as tiny, even tinier than a fine grain of sand in the universe, we are, essentialy, nothing.

Since Leaving The "Truth" Is Your Life Better?
by minimus inyou are told that if you "go back to the vomit" of the world, you will be miserable.. is your life better or worse since you've removed yourself from the organization's hold?.

Better in more ways than I could possibly count. Perhaps most important is the freedom to think, feel, believe and act as I choose.

Community Service - why looked down on when it was so encouraged by Jesus
by insearchoftruth inmy wife yesterday was talking about how useless it really is to feed the hungry and provide cold weather shelters since the problem will not go away until the 'new system of things'.. i know that at one time jesus does state that there will be poor always, but a key aspect of his ministry on earth was helping the less fortunate.
how does the wts justify the discouragement of its rank and file from performing acts of community service, when the 'greatest man who ever lived' was so active in it?.

Simple.. the WT$ looks down on it because there's no $$$$$ in it for them. And the good little 'publishers' slave-sales-persons are so brain-washed they just parrot the party line.
