Well it is time for me to say GOODBYE!!!

tornapart - here is a pretty nice put together description of those leaving during that time and some references in it. http://www.friendsofjehovahswitnesses.com/2012/09/08/75-of-the-original-bible-students-left-the-watchtower-by-1931/ You'll see you can find published material, "Jehovah's witnesses in the divine purpose" published 1959 showing memorial attendance was 90,000 in 1925, then 1927 drops to 17,000. Then a few years after he changes the name of and creates Jehovah's Witnesses, there are no reports.

That's only the drop from those who stayed around after Rutherford took over, so combine that with however many left when he took over by force and became the dictator.

It's funny, the original / first generation teaching that was based on 1914 claimed those who were annointed during 1914 wouldn't die until armageddon. Then when the years were running out the new light was merely those who were alive and could understand what was happening, so say those 15 years old and up wouldn't die until the end. Then the new light was evidently those born 1914.

So now they add overlapping generations and the 2nd generation overlaps the first, the first being back to square one, those who were alive and annointed by 1914.

The next phase will be those atleast 15 years old generation overlapping. Then the new light after that runs out is again those born in 1914 overlapping.

What a joke.

Actually, NOW I know what the GB are up to. After rereading the entire paragraphs on that article, it's obvious the GB are saying that they themselves are the 2nd or overlapping generation. They are pretty much assuring that they will live the rest of their live, all bills paid and provided for by the R@R and leave whoever succeeds them to come up w/ new light to have themselves covered.

They can say it's short, but since they didn't say that the overlapping generation will see the 'end' but the start of the great tribulation and the fact they are relying on people thinking it will be short, it's going to be a ploy to buy more time. They can say it's began, then maybe do what was done long ago, say it's put on pause, etc.

since it seems most study watchtowers are all about worshipping the gb, i decided to look at oct of this year through jan 2014 study watchtowers and list the title of the study article, then the rewritten title to show what the point and teaching for the jw's to take home was.

i did that to see if it taught anything not having to do with gb worship, obeying, etc.

Perhaps one day they will really simplify the WT and instead of each month printing as many variations of worship GB and do more service that they can, they will have one article saying it plain as daylight and study the same article each week, year in and year out. Obey GB, Worship GB, more service. Obey GB, Worship GB, more service.

Several seem to have maybe missed the change, it's not overlapping generations, it's the fact that it's NOT "the end("armageddon" they will see anymore, it's "the beginning of the great tribulation". Since there is no time limit for the great tribulation, if suddenly masses start to exit, they can say, "bam the GT just started". Then they will drag on that for as many years as they can, until more new light.

answer: it pretends it will never happen!.

is this responsible leadership or some kind of cognitive dissonant malfeasance?.

a close active relative of mine who needed major dental help due to age and problems, completely broke, never prepared for retirement or anything due to reasons the OP stated, when going to the brothers for help was told they don't do that and they were encouraged to seek out the relatives they were shunning for financial help.
