cofty - if the WT only provided meetings and no literature and no placing of literature then how would they account for all the donations and money they ask for? The literature is the way for them to keep all the money. It's like the charities where 99.5% is spent on direct mail campaigns and those running the charities happen to own the direct mail companies they send the checks to to provide that service.

Maybe everybody should write to IRS about being current/ex members. Inform them about how they don't do any charity, even to existing members. And send them the WT articles about those who get the disaster relief efforts should donate the entire insurance settlement to them. (they get paid the insurance and profit from the free labor and sometimes donated materials.) And even though they don't give anything to anybody who needs help, they send articles all the time asking for wills, estates, and every possible way to get money.

Wow, I'm reading the whole IRS guidebook and it's like the ENTIRE religion is based up every rule to NOT get taxed and not pay anything.
No political involvement and since the "Faithful slave knows EVERYTHING" they then make doctrine that it's against the bible to vote so they can still try to control every other aspect of their lives and just have everybody not vote.
Since they dont' want to give to real charity and help real people, they do the magazines because those who profit from the sales and supplies and the JW owned corporations make a killing and they keep tax exempt status.
Even their Bethel workers policies are to not pay taxes, social security, etc.
But there are people in the organization that are really benefiting, I wonder if there is a way to get the IRS to dig deep and not smokescreen what's really going on.

One of the things that will make them lose the tax exempt status,,,"they must not participate in, or intervene in, any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office"
Another thing, it seems they MUST provide some sort of charity. And if they don't, then religious services and the PROMOTION of religion.
Unless I'm reading it wrong, that means if they didn't keep pushing for more door to door, then they would be forced to give back money for real charity!!
Reading the IRS guide, I think they really could lose their tax exempt status if it was exposed they are really working that system and not giving any sort of charity and it's all a smoke shield to make money for those high up who contract all the services being done.

jwdaughter - I'm sure they may do that somehow, the JW's w/ a huge estate and loads of money, to sign over to the WT for when they die. To not appear to be completely corrupt they will throw in occassional bro. Hineykisser who is broke as broke gets but only because bro. richestate they've signed up as well will more than cover his expenses when he passes. But you wouldn't find any filled up with the poor ones unless there is a guaranteed profit somehow.

Yup, pool, trails, racketball and tennis court, rooms, cafeteria. The GB will get their free slaves to cook, clean, launder, etc in the tiny slaves quarters while they relax and enjoy themselves during the winter months in Florida's mild climate occassionally skyping back their orders to publish another brochure on jw.org on how them, the faithful slave, have decided it's best if people buy their own paper to print from home their literature, and how they need to be up to date in giving donations and regular at meetings for the wonderful food such as they are reading at the moment. And how they should be sending in their money and not planning for retirement because it's so close.

Objective - I have thought that perhaps the tree of knowledge of good and bad, a person would die because as Jesus said I think, if a person doesn't know it's sin or it doesn't bother their conscience, then it's not sin. But doing something out of conscience is a sin. So if tree of knowledge of good and bad meant that being told what is good and bad and if being human inclined to do things that technically are bad, had they not known it would not have been sin. Tree can also mean more than just a tree, it could be another entity as in Enoch, one that spoke and told them things, "eating of the words" same as when Jesus says eating the bread of the pharasees.
