Indiana "Religious Freedom" (right to discriminate)
by Simon insickening to see the photo of the religious zealots all stood around the governor signing into law the right for people to discriminate against others (gay, lesbian, trans-gender) based purely on religious dogma.. if religious people want those freedoms then the can't have it both ways - they cannot complain if *they* are discriminated against.. "sorry, we don't like zionists, get out".
"oh, it's some special mass and you can't work your shift?
you're fired!"..

Pope Francis - "does just so..." washes feet of women, Muslims, criminals
by scotoma inthe watchtower is always concerned about things being done "just so" when it comes to divine commands.. a command is usually set forth with words such as shall, should, ought.. when jesus washed the feet of his disciples he said:.
"therefore, if i, although lord and teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash the feet of one another".
the pope obeys christ's foot washing command but jw's don't.. what's the jw's excuse?

Even the old president of Iran had more humility then the GB! He didn't live in the presidential palace, instead he lived in a very small humble house. It was interesting looking up his life. Most powerful man in Iran and he lived very simply. -

I'm with you Tenacious. Too many coincidences. You can add DNA to that list. DNA works just like computer programming. EVERY living thing comes from the same DNA, and depending how it's coded is what you end up with. Prior to this modern age, just over a 100 years ago computers and computer programming would be impossible to understand. Now after all the DNA breakthroughs from the 1950's onward, and computer programming, and how alike they are, DNA to my understanding is like a highly dynamic biological programming language and program.
I'll put it this way, right now due to the how much computer memory can be stored in small hard drives, processor speed, robotics, etc, there is nothing holding us back from developing robots and if a genius develops a computer program that can think and learn and mimick the human brain, it could potentially become self aware.
Even if I did not believe in God or God as traditionally described, I would have to admit I see strong evidence for some sort of intelligent design as regards life on Earth.

Need your thoughts... Again
by Garrett in(sorry for any typos, i'm on my ipad) so, remember how in my last post i mentioned that i had told some of my dear friends why i decided to leave?
well, one of those friends was a girl... not just any girl, but rather, a girl that i've loved since the moment i've met her.
she used to say that she considered me her best friend and we were really close she just never really returned my feelings for her due to different circumstances i presume.. but i always felt a connection.. anyways, after telling her that i decided to leave because of multiple reasons but that the tolerance of child sex abuse was the final straw, she responded asking where i got my information and that she wanted to talk about it with me.. this feels like an opportunity for me to tell her about my findings, what do you think?

Tell her to google, Jehovah's witness and click on "news". Or Jehovah's witness abuse, etc, and click on "News" so she is sure she is going to legit news websites and no 'apostate lies' websites :)
She can start seeing the weekly cases that pop up.

Churches go WAY more out on Jesus death then JW's ever did during this week!
by EndofMysteries inmy significant others church, what do they do on the week of christs death?
sunday service all based on jesus death, big 50 person choir, performances, etc.
last night some special service, they have a sit down passover w/ the bread and wine, then 24 hours it's open w/ special places for anybody any time of night to come and pray if they want.

Tonight some other special service, "Good Friday" is what they call it, focused on his death. Then Easter Sunday all about his resurrection.
Yet as a JW was taught only JW's really cared about Jesus death, that everybody else just did Christmas and Easter, having nothing to do with Jesus.
They also have communion every month, as Jesus did say, "Keep doing this in remembrance of me" and "As often as you do this". He didn't say "Do this once a year on this date".
Anyway it's just interesting seeing how these other churches really celebrate his death, sacrifice, and resurrection throughout the whole week, yet JW's have a quick boring talk passing bread and wine but rejecting partaking and call it a year.

Maybe the earth is the insane asylum for the universe.
I've had a similar thought on one of my many ideas. One of them is this, that Earth is hell, all on Earth were once spirit creatures and we are all being punished. The dense darkness in the bible is the darkness we have in not knowing where we are from, doing, and what's going on. If we are eternally punished then nonstop born again. Or could be a humbling experience, our memories wiped until we become 'good' and then allowed out in the next life, etc.

Not sure what your stance is, first you say I shouldn't put all gay people in the same box as the activists. On issues like this example I don't usually see any saying it's wrong and disagreeing and many non gays who are supporters also attacking. So if you feel forcing people to do what they don't want and trying to shut them down is out of line then that's great to hear. But then your next comment is "maybe we should wait ...for society to come around" which seems to then reverse your previous comment and is in support of those activists.
I have not seen any cases, just like this pizza owner, when gay people enter their shop or place of business, people are telling them to leave and a sign on the door, "no gays allowed in this restaurant, etc". The issues are people who do businesses and work that involve traveling. If you are a caterer, dj, photographer, etc, and you do work that involves driving to a clients location, you should have EVERY RIGHT to refuse a job for any reason. Like with this pizza instance, there is a big difference between a gay person entering the restaurant and them refusing to make them pizza vs them asking them to drive to, attend, and cater their wedding. If they don't want to then bring your cash to somebody who will. Tons of people and businesses who'll love getting tons of extra business from others turning down gay clients.
But more clarification on the reason I'm seeing things as I've said.......initially the 'activists' were going for equal rights, not trying to force anybody or shove things down throat, peacefully and decently winning over support. Then suddenly laws start getting changed and they start getting more rights. Now the activists start changing and getting aggressive with those who will not only not support them having rights but then attacking as in this instance any who claim they don't agree w/ the lifestyle or wouldn't do a job involving attending one of their events. So no more just wanting equal rights and stuff, now if having an event or wedding and a person is asked to attend or work at it, they better say yes whether they like it or not.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/indiana-pizzeria-owners-said-theyd-131425798.html (The Internet has give over $500,000 to the pizza owners who were shut down from LGBT )
So this small mom and pop pizza shop, who said they were fine serving gay patrons who came into the shop but commented hypothetically when asked by a reporter if they would cater a gay wedding, said they would not. Suddenly in this small town, LGBT activists come from everywhere wanting to burn/shut the place down. Harrassing and threatening phone calls, etc. All because in their absolute right to their own opinion and beliefs, would not want to physically attend and cater a gay wedding.
So the LGBT keep saying they only want equal rights, not forcing it down peoples throats. Each time they harass and don't respect others rights to do what they want with their time and live how they chose, they lose more supporters.
I'm for people to have equal rights. But if try to force me to do things I don't want to do that's where I draw the line and will support any laws that counteract that and will double think giving my support for others.
That's why they have over half a million now and counting.

How do you feel about religion as a whole?
by FatherFirst init just seems to me religion in general primarily makes truly bad people worse, not genuinly good people better; and in many cases has even made good people do bad things in the name of their religion.
just curious, a personal poll if you will.
what are you guys' current views on religion as a whole?
