That scripture is speaking about 'annointed' ones. Those 'chosen', 'elect', etc. It's speaking of gaining and loosing ones in God's favor.

EASY WAY TO END IT ALL
by QuitWastingTIME ini don't understand... with all the people who are contra-watchtower - i mean all the books, all the websites, all the forums dedicated to "exposing" the watchtower "truth" - why has no one group actually just gone ahead and really exposed it?.
all the proceeds from crisis of conscience or whatever other books (many on amazon.com) or whatever spare money and time people have to create these forums for people of varying degrees of craziness and experience could all go towards one simple solution: infiltrate the governing body "enclave" meeting room with bugged mics and a hidden camera.
really, why hasn't anyone thought of that?

Number of bible students in 1914
by Truthexplorer inhaving read last weeks wt, i was a little stunned to say the least at the number of bible students in 1914. all this time, i had assumed there was probably in the region of a few hundred thousand worldwide at that time, particularly as they had been about since the 1870's.
.
was anyone else stunned to discover there was only about '5100' in 1914. te.

Must of been after the MASS exodus, from a few changes Russell did which broke off many. Then Rutherford himself caused many to break off as well. THEN when they were arrested and everything was shut down for a few years.

Yea, I noticed this. At first when I was still active, I thought after being spiritually starved and famished, that FINALLY we would get some good 'deep' stuff. Real study and things which the general public wouldn't understand.
Nope, instead it's EVERY WT, you'll find one of the following, "Follow and Praise GB", "Don't try to learn the bible on your own", "Make sure your strong by doing more service", "If you have time to help somebody, or money to contribute, instead of helping with food or anything, give them a WT and donate the cash to print more WT's", "How we know this is the real Faithful slave", "Keep following the faithful slave", etc.
It's one thing 'trying' to do the right thing and help people. When it looks like 'trying' to manipulate and 'purposely' lie and keep from the truth...

Reading 1 Cor 5:1 in INTERLINEAR, seems it may even be mistranslated.
It says in the direct Greek to English before rearranging the words....... "Wholly it is being heard in you fornication, and such fornication which not-but in the nations, as-and woman someone of the father to be having. " - Don't know greek, but seems it could be saying incest, "someone of the father", his sister for example.

Absolutely Wobble - I am 1/2 tempted to each month bring to light the twisting of the articles and then 'what the bible REALLY teaches' in rebuttal.
For example, if somebody commits a sin and GOES to the elders, if they were truly following biblical principles, there would be no judging at all about it, it would be as follows
1 Cor 4:3 the apostle Paul HIMSELF says this " now to me it is a very trival matter taht I should be examined by you or by a human tribunal. Even I do not examine myself.
James 4:14 Is there anyone sick among YOU? Let him call the older men of the congregation to [him], and let them pray over him, greasing [him] with oil in the name of Jehovah. 15 And the prayer of faith will make the indisposed one well, and Jehovah will raise him up. Also, if he has committed sins, it will be forgiven him.
The bible ONLY supports, from one of Pauls letters, one who would willingly without intent or desire to change practicing certain things. Anyone who did do sin, goes to Elders, no matter how much or how many times, if they are stopped by that time, and wanting to change, no scriptural basis to DF them.
The other thing........even if the Elders say they are forgiven and okay now, they don't have the power to do that. The most, someone annointed from a few scriptures 'might' be able to say that, no to say if they are or are not.

O and the person who brought out the 1874 thing.....if they didn't try to 'hide' that was the prediction and the END was 1914, vs the presense 'beginning' in 1914, they could THEN use the 1975 (date because they were off by 100 years with the 1874 so they thought), then adding 40 years (generation) like Russell did to 1874 to get to 1914, to have 2014 at the 'start' of the end, buying another 80+ years. But at the same time, that would mess up the 144,000 stuff.
Here is another interesting line of thought, if the 144,000 started after Christs death, and there were EVENLY divided throughout the 2000 years, we would have only 72 PER YEAR annointed.

They CAN'T answer MOST questions! You see, EVERYONE as they are raised and taught are only shown probably less then 5% of the actual bible. Things are 'read over' and 'brushed past', so JW's included only on a very few things.
When scriptures catch your interest, type it in the watchtower library, and when there 'might' be an article from prior to 1950, or less then 1 reference to it, and you see that for most of the scriptures you have questions about, it's safe to say there will be no answers to your questions. When they run home to type it in the WT to parrot an article, there won't be any, because the only material would be 'apostate' since it's pre 1950. See if YOU use old material, it's apostate, but as you can see in some recent WT's, they are quoting 1930's WT's, even though you can't look it up yourself.

What happened to all the JW talk about the King of the North and Peace & Security?
by Think About It inwhen i left the jw's in 95', talk of the king of the north and peace & security was still big close to the end items.
haven't seen them mentioned much since i've been coming here.
what's the latest from the wts on these 2 subjects?.

the bible clearly reveals the king of the north and king of the south, it removes the guesswork. Just seems nobody takes the time to actually read their bible? I don't know.....
