  A little example of how severely the contributions for the Society are drying up

  just a little tidbit from the congregation i attend..... the congregation has approximately 120 publishers.. well over 1000 magazines per month are picked up, not to mention all the books, brochures, and tracts that are picked up.. there was a "local needs" part on the service meeting recently, asking for more contributions.. it seems our congregation has averaged just about $300 per month contributions to the "worldwide work" over the past year.. .

  assuming 1500 magazines / month, that's just 20 cents per magazine - and that completely ignores all other literature that is picked up.. the last price the magazines had, 20+ years ago, was 25 cents per issue.

  with inflation that would have been about 50 cents each now.. just another sign of how severely the contriutions to the society are drying up..... .

  They could have north of 10 million euros had they sold this a few years ago - they must be kicking themselves over the timing.

  One of the amazing things is how mismanaged and stupidly run the WT corporations can be.
  So much for being appointed over the Lord's belongings on Earth.

  Wow! I had thought it had been Athanasius who struck Arius but...

  Wikipedia has this reference:

  "According to some accounts in the hagiography of Nicholas of Myra , debate at the council became so heated that at one point, he slapped Arius in the face. This was the same Saint Nicholas later called " Santa Claus "). [23]"

  If you follow the footnote [23] reads:

  "^ Bishop Nicholas Loses His Cool at the Council of Nicea . From the St. Nicholas center. See also St. Nicholas the Wonderworker , from the website of the Orthodox Church in America . Retrieved on 2010-02-02. Although the record shows that a Bishop Nicholas attended the council, the stories of Saint Nicholas striking Arius across the face do not appear in the contemporary histories, such as those of Eusebius or Athanasius. They seem to revolve primarily around the miraculous and divine granting of the emblems of episcopal office to St Nicholas, rather than a strictly historical confrontation with Arius."

  Several other webpages also make mention of Santa Claus slapping "heretics".

  I agree with you Robert about not doing harm to anyone or their property.
  
  It's reminiscent of what Paul said about "robbing temples" and teaching not to steal.
  
  To burn another's place of worship seems rather barbaric in this day and age.
  
  But then again considering what's been happening between Shi'a and Sunni in Iraq
  with the bombing of mosques one has to wonder... When will the nonsense stop?

  Looking for a Photo of Fred Franz

  do any of you recall seeing a photograph in one of the society's publications of fred franz where he is giving a public talk at an assembly and has his left arm stretched out and on his left hand is a masonic ring.

  it may have been in one of the special international assembly brochures.. with this great group of sleuths i thought some may have come across it..
