New David Splane Video: No 1900 Year Faithful Slave

governing body member david splane has a new video on tv.jw.org where he talks about all the horrible things committed by martin luther and the protestant reformers.. his conclusion is that there has been no faithful and discreet slave on the earth during the past 1900 years (before 1919 i guess.).

he also says that maybe there were a few anointed on earth, maybe not.. he did add an interesting statement that he doesn't condemn the other churches just for misunderstanding the bible because the society has done that.. another odd point, was that he actually mentioned catholic missionary work in a somewhat positive light, while totally condemning the reformation views on predestination..

Perhaps at one time what Scriptures clearly say may have put a restraint on what the WT teachings were.

Nowadays, I'm sorry to say, they obviously see themselves even more as the "masters" of Scripture. It doesn't matter that the rNWT is in plain English and not in Latin. What matters now is that they act as the "magisterium" for the JW religion. And all their followers have to kowtow the official latest teachings they pull out of their oligarchical class @rse!

It really sounds like they suddenly realized they have much in common with the Pope and the Catholic College of Cardinals than with the Sola Scriptura Reformers. They should call themselves Jesuit Witnesses.

With the Jesuits also having a literal Governing Body and renown for their Pharisaical shenanigans, they're almost spiritual cousins. Bunch of controlling fanatics that both organizations' hierarchies are!

Hey watchtower, 1955 is calling, they want their sales method back.

Which is exactly the fashion the WTS wanted publishers to present. Good ol' pre-civil rights anglo society. Like in 1940's and 50's U.S. family movies where everyone is white and speaks with that half-brit half-yankee pronunciation and every family has a mom, dad, and 2.5 kids (you can substitute the .5 for a dog if you'd like), and all dad's work in a suit and change into a sweater and slippers like Mr. Rogers, and the mom's are homemakers, dressed in aprons and have flawless hair curls.

Well, the average American Joe has a beer belly and doesn't own a suit, thinks all suits are G-men or sales people, and well, most U.S. women stand up for their rights and don't take kindly to chauvinists (except for scarf wearing, shariah keeping muslims and fundamentalist mormon women).

Single parent homes are quite common now-a-days, the only gays you'll find in the closet, live at Bethel. And going down on your love mate is part of the fun of having a love mate. That's today's U.S. reality.

The WT/JW Org can throw all the technology they want at rebranding their religion. But until they face up to the reality that the post-WWII fashions and mores are a thing of the past, they will continue to bleed out members and keep internet savvy prospective bible students from joining their cultish religion.

I'm sure too. But not that kind, I hope.

I wish there were a miracle of the sort that overtook the old Armstrong's WCG and became Grace Communion International.

Now that was a miracle of the kind you don't see everyday. It took a lot of cojones for their leaders to make the humble admission they'd been using harmful mind controlling practices in the guise of religious worship.

And trash-talking the Protestant Reformation is just stupid; the WTS wouldn't exist if not for the Reformation.

Hear, hear! And Joe Rutherford must be turning in his grave what with the way he used to rant against Catholics and now this upstart little $hit trash talks against the movement that brought the Scriptures to the masses and started translating into modern languages rather than keep the Bible in Latin for only the cleric-class.

The remarkable thing here is that something, or more likely some things, really caused them to do an about face here, in a very big way. It would be interesting to know just what those factors were...

My take is that they're trying to streamline and weed out unprofitable business practices. They've reduced the number of meetings by one and made changes to the other two meetings days. This allows for more congregations to share KH's.

Reducing the number of KH's by merging congregations frees up properties that can be sold. The renovation scam is very profitable for the Org and they know the sheep will keep falling for it.

They've made out big time with the sale of Brooklyn properties. They've taken ownership of the extra funds in congregation bank accounts. And made the publishers feel like they were so magnanimous in forgiving loans while telling the elders to be in on the scam or else, and make sure they're donating no less than they were before the "loan forgiveness".

All this adds up to a lot of filthy lucre in the greedy hands of the Org and its hierarchy.

The new modus operandi is to reduce and re-use. They reduce the amount of time in service to qualify as an auxiliary and the pub's ate that $hit up. They reduced the magazines' bulk and the pub's feel like they now have more time to actually read the grandified tracts that their trademark publications have become.

They re-use old publications spruced up like the Greatest Man book, recycled pictures, recycled ideas. And whatever doesn't fit in with the new mold gets discarded. Get more money with less work, get more power with less effort.

Money talks in the current WT spiritual paradise. And it's all for the sake of spending less, giving out less, and collecting more. Greedy grabbers that they are!

we've just started watching this swedish parallel-present series about human-like robots (hubots) seeking independence.. its really well done but subtitled (if you didn't mind the original "girl with the dragon tattoo") and the best description of it i was saw the stepford wives meets blade runner.

kind of creepy and unsettling and touches on some adult themed topics (robots for sex).. anyone else seen it?

i only started watching because i was too lazy to get up and get the remote one night but it was pretty gripping.. .

Considering your mention of ancient mythologies vs. the Bible is interesting yet not quite the same. Ancient Greeks saw nothing wrong in older men buggering boys, even Spartans seemed to have preferred manly loving men than females. I think given the actual "practices" and not myths of ancient times the Bible gives moral guidelines that prohibit certain behaviors for the people who were set apart as a beacon of righteousness to the nations. Much of goyim ethos was polluted in the view of rhe israelites.

It would appear that street work isn't effective as calling on people's homes so if they go to this direction they're in for an unfortunate surprise.

Uhuh, yup! Which as stated above by Crazyguy, has probably more to do with shielding themselves from lawsuits than the effectiveness of making disciples.

One point I'll make about your comment on John 8:3-11.

This is one of the most powerful moral lessons in the entire Bible.

I tend to agree, yet this has been cut off from the revised NWT.
