You do know that they're under control, mentally and emotionally, to the WT.

With this knowledge you may find it in your heart to see beyond their cultish behavior and focus on exposing the JW religion for what it really is, a harmful, cult that destroys families and individuals' lives, devours them for its own profit.

If you can help just one person not get trapped in this cult, or come out of it, you can help starve the WT beast.

Everything seems to be changing... why not birthdays?

if we look at all doctrines, we see an overall effort to conserve unity and control.

- assuming most birthdays, if allowed, would probably be oriented to children, then that means 40 celebrations per year.

so all in all, this give a total potential attendance to a birthday of 30 families (120 attendance / 4 family members).

wt and charity

i know of no charitable work by wt.

.

hm of the r&f live in poor situations who could be helped, raised out of their situation using the vast resources of the wt.. the wt could run job search programs to help unemployed get work.. it could run its own medical insurance in countries where such is prohibitively expensive.. " but if anyone has the worlds goods and sees a brother in need yet closes his hand against him how does gods love abide in him?

Obviously whatever reference in the Bible having to do with helping out your neighbor means giving them a chance to accept WT literature.

This "witnessing" fulfills the need to keep consciences quiet while serving the WT leadership.

The WT writers don't seem to have any problem with hijacking Jesus' teachings and parables to have them serve as propaganda for the WT field service work of knocking on mostly not-at-home's doors.

an elderly sister passed away recently.

family came to her memorial service from all over the country.

some of them, including grown-up, disfellowshipped children of hers, also came.

Not at a funeral but at a JW wedding the father of the bride was "allowed" to attend the ceremony at the hall. He couldn't walk his daughter down the aisle or the couple would have to find another place to hold the wedding and most of the guests wouldn't show up because of the father being DF'ed.

Later in the day when guests were invited to go on to the reception hall, a nice rented place outside of town, the father showed up and was immediately "stopped" at the parking lot by some of the friends of the groom who were asked to be on the lookout for him (and his new wife who was a "worldly person"). She could go into the place but he was asked to remain outside. He said he was going in anyway.

The place was very nice. The groom's family had put out a lot of bucks to rent the place and the decorations and meal were excellent. I opted to go for a little air outside while my wife and some of the gals had a hen session inside.

So, that's where I saw these friends of the groom blocking the entrance with their bodies and telling the father he'd have to wait a few minutes. One of them went in and told the groom, and that was pretty much the end of the reception for a lot of the invited guests since they were told that a DF'ed person was going to try to come in and if their conscience said they should leave then they should.

The father explained that he wasn't going to stay long. Just to come in and wish them well, give them a present they'd brought. He wasn't even expecting to stay for food or drink.

Well, it turns out the father didn't come into the reception hall. He was very upset, visibly so, his hands shaking and he seemed on the verge of tears. He was clearly not a violent person and it hurt him deeply that he was treated this way. The daughter came outside. They walked off into the parking lot among the cars together.

My wife wanted to leave saying that it wouldn't be appropriate to stay there if a DF'ed person was allowed in the reception place as we shouldn't even eat a meal with DF'ed persons.

I started to explain to her that the DF'ed person was the father and that it seemed he wasn't going to come in after all. But, to no avail.

As we got into our car I saw the daughter in tears. The father trying to reach out to her with a pleading expression on his face and his daughter swatting off his hand and looking away.

It was one of those moments that stick out in my mind as being part of my waking up to the reality of all the hurt this JW religion has caused families due to it's DF'ing policies.

A Total Waste of Time "In The Field"

so i am walking down the street in a spanish neighborhood and two men, obviously jw's, are standing between houses writing furiously on their tiny slips.

i am nearly a block away approaching and they just kept writing the whole time i walked up.

i finally arrive to pass them and they are still both writing.

In Spanish speaking congregations in New England, we have to make a list of Spanish or Portuguese sounding names to call on. The Secretary and a helper draft up the lists and divide the names and addresses into territories. Call calling on non-listed households is very seldom called unless one knows for a fact that the householder is Latino or Spanish speaking.

Getting references from other Latinos in the community is one of the best ways of building lists of names. It used to be that phone books were the place to find Latinos. But not anymore, with the over abundance of mobile phones the land lines are dwindling.

Another way is to go to a Mexican Restaurant or other restaurant you know the kitchen crew is Latino, and make contact. Once you have a chance to make a visit on one of them you have a way in to get info on the whole group that works there and even other restaurants.
