as mistakenly believed by a 13th century spanish monk .. modern scholars including the j.w.`s agree that the more accurate pronunciation of gods name would be more nearer to yahweh than the name jehovah .. so why do j.w.`s insist on the name ?

Yes the name Jehovah was used by the English speaking American colonists and of course those who stayed back in England.

A Spanish monk didn't "invent" anything. He transliterated what had been written in vowel pointed Hebrew for centuries.

It's really very off putting that some ex-jw's grab onto this fallacy in trying to disprove the claim of Truth by the WT, how can you fight idiotic suppositions with more idiotic suppositions? Mind boggling.

Repeating idiotic fallacies about the Tetragram does not make them true.

The English Y comes from the Greek alphabet. In Latin the sound was made with an I and later became a J to differentiate between the vowel and the consonant. The W is just a double letter, originally the U and V were the same letter and just like with I and J the U became the vowel and the V the consonant.

To me it is very annoying to read ignorant suppositions stated as truth. Isn't that the very reason why many of us dislike the WT.

i'll start off with this one:.

some years ago when i was formulating my exit, i employed for some time an ms brother from another congregation.. i'd had a couple of young "worldly" lads work for me but they proved unreliable as they used drugs or alchohol and consequently would'nt arrive at work and such like.. so when i was was contacted by this brother and spoke to him and heard he'd worked at the australian bethel for some time on construction and wanted an opportunity to learn the trade of bricklaying ,i thought ,"great someone to finally trust and be reliable".

he was in his 40's at the time and he worked like a trojan ,was honest ,really likeable and interesting ,could play the classical guitar beautifully ,had a beautiful family.

An elder superdub up North in White Rvr. Jct. VT or Lebanon NH, not sure which any more, who used to be Special Pioneering and whom I worked under as a Convention Attendant lead. His name was Gantos.

We'd had a run in because of the direction to close off certain seating sections and make everyone pack in like sardines, split up families if necessary, anyway, being the hardass he was he took objection with my comments that it was crazy to make people have to sit so packed in when almost half of the auditorium was roped off, and could be used. He lectured me for over an hour, non-stop.

When I started waking up and researching online I read an account by ex-JW's who happened to be his parents. The hurt and the torment these folks have gone through because of shunning by their son just broke my heart. Knowing how blindly loyal this young elder was It would delight my soul to hear he's woken up, left the cult, and made a point to apologize to his parents.

being ever ready to note information that demonstrates christian idiocy in general and jw idiocy in particular, i was interested in news of this particular research that has been doing the rounds of science oriented news sources this week.. christianity in general and jwism in particular, have viciously persecuted same sex attracted people, thus demonstrating their peculiar hypocrisy.

most christians (the jw brand and other brands) squeal like a speared pig when they suffer any treatment that they call persecution, but are always willing to persecute same sex attracted people (and anyone else that stands outside their narrow-minded vision of the world).. most same sex attracted people will testify that their romantic attraction to the same sex was not a clear cut choice, but was something they grew up with.

I imagine that if they can make this sort of predictions with 70% accuracy, in the future there may be judgments on whether to allow an embryo to live depending on the acceptability by a society of those who would grow up with such a likelihood of homosexual tendencies.

Homosexuality is illegal in some parts of the world, even today, and practicing homosexuals are persecuted to the point of imprisonment, and even capital punishment.

I find it quite frightening that a government could read your DNA and make judgments on you of this sort.

Also if they could predict a person's sexual preference for pedophilia, can you imagine the chaotic discussions that would arise from such a development?

What if they then try to "fix" someone's DNA to adapt it to an acceptable community sandard in a certain society? (Like under Muslim rule!)

Wow! Science Fiction is becoming a reality and the future looks quite frightening in this regard.
