  can anyone help me with a quote from a publication studied in '09 that had a box that said jws leave over selfish reasons but not over doctrine?

  i think it was studied in the bs but i can't find it and i already tried the search feature.

  i remember someone posted about it at the time it was studied.

  Tell your kids the one thing they'll NEVER hear from the WT:

  "Honey, I really don't know. But you know what? Sometimes it's OK not to know. We will never have all the answers in this life. If we did, we'd be Jehovah. In fact, sometimes it's better NOT to have answers than answers that turn out to be wrong, or we knew deep inside were wrong all along. But the important thing is that I love you and will be there for you no matter what!"

  Just be honest and tell her what's in your heart. You don't have to say exactly what I did, obviously, but you get the gist of where I'm coming from. Answers from the heart, given to people who still have hearts, will usually eventually win out over "pat" or phony canned answers, especially when the person being given the pat answers realizes those answers are subject to change at any moment.

  i always found it very patronising, particulay as most of the jw's who did that treated me very badly and not like a sister at all!.

  i also hated when brothers would say " i've met a lovely sister and i'm planning to marry her!

  " sounds so incestuous!

  "Jehovah's Love" = "Good Standing in a Millerite Spinoff Cult." JDHF, Tell your daughter Paradise is here, now, on the Earth. That's what I plan to tell my kids. If she wants specifics, tell her the Garden of Eden is in Central Anatolia (Turkey). Seriously. I've found evidence for this far more convincing than anything the WT ever sold me. Hell, you can even show her - in one of the WT Bibles, and in the Insight books. They place it, I think, closer to upper Mesopotamia - but the point is, Paradise was on a map and it still is. Tell her you plan to take her there someday, so it WILL come in her lifetime. Let's see your wife dispute that hot potato with Scripture.

  charles taze russell: his life and times: the man, the millennium and the message by fredrick zydek is the latest biography on pastor russell, and i must say i am very impressed.

  i have read other historiees on the pastor russell by zydek (all unpublished manuscripts) but this one is far better than the last one authored by charles redeker aq few years ago.

  zydek is a catholic.. the author is neither a bible student or a jehovah's witness.

  Regardless of your opinion of CTR, I still cannot fathom why the WT of today claims it has anything to do with him. So far as I can tell, the only teachings of CTR that are still valid are:

  1) No Trinity, and

  2) No Hell.

  Literally EVERYTHING else has changed! Hasn't it?

  Hmmm...

  I wonder, in this non-manipulative organization with few victims, just HOW many ex-JWs/inactive JWs there are compared to the total Witness population?

  How exactly do you explain the fact that the WT has such a high (if not THE highest) turnover rate?

  I believe you are right. If I have time I'll download the 2009 CD and do a search on the phrase "faithful and discreet slave". It should show a total number of occurences per year, then we can compare it to previous years. Anybody already have the CD, or the link I can download it?

  Any Ideas on the Next "Big Thing" that Will Bring the Watchtower Down?

  i received this via a face book pm from the group christian witness fellowship:.

  also near the end of the show, richard rawe says "something extra big" is about to happen that will take watchtower "down," something bigger even than their pedophile scandal and the u.n. connections scandal put together.

  he says he can't spill the beans yet, but the something is definitely coming.

  You know, it's times like this I really do pity the Witnesses. Many, if not most, of them are decent people who really do believe in what they're doing. And then the GB craps in their lap with this steaming turd. How the hell are you you supposed to explain what you believe if those who tell you what to believe won't even explain it themselves?

  i have noticed an tendency towards conspiracy theories among the ex-jw community.

  others, like myself are allergic to anything that hints of belief in a conspiracy.

  then it occurred to me that this should not be surprising; the teachings of the borg amount to a conspiracy theory more fanciful than anything ever promoted by david ike and his ilk (see what i did there?).

  Personally, I think the reason XJWs are drawn to conspiracy theories is because it's so much in vogue now among mainline Christians. But think about that for a minute... The Illuminati, Freemasonry, New Age, etc. etc. are HUGE subjects of speculation amongst non-JW Christians. And these are folks who have many diverse and sometimes vague opinions about eschatology and end-times scenarios. Now consider the WT for a minute. They claim that Satan rules the world and that the New System is imminent. "Satan controls everything outside of the org" is being hammered and hammered and hammered. "Stay away from the Internet" is being hammered and hammered and hammered.

  Now don't you think it's a little odd that the WT, who is obsessed with avoiding Satan's snares, seeing him under every rock, behind every bush, wanting to protect the flock at every turn... never, EVER, even MENTIONS any of these occult groups? For the world's most eschatology-obsessed end-times org, wouldn't you think that this would at least merit a cursory mention from the WT? But they're not even blips on the radar!

  Coincidence? Or....
