It's shocking what elders are getting away with nowadays! Back in my day, only the Governing Body could get away with this kind of stuff...

272 Elders steal 6 million dollars
by outoftheorg inthe missoulia montana paper of 12/30/02 carried the following news report.. two jehovahs witness elders, dale a. erickson and darryl k willis pleaded no contest to charges of fraud, amounting to 6 million dollar theft from an aged lady, una anderson.. it is the biggest single theft case in the history of montana, according to the prosecutors.

this theft occured over a seven year period.

Are they going to keep lowering the bar to be appointed an MS or Elder???
by karter inmy mother told me of 2 young guys that have been appointed elders.. i could'nt belive it these guys have zero life experance and both their wifes walked out on them after a few years of marrage.. another one cooked his brain on drugs and his talks are painfull to listen to....all over the place and stumbles through them.. .
is it due to alot of young ones (60 to 70%) leaving and the pool to pick from is getting smaller so lowering the bar is the only way???

Don't be surprised if they start appointing "mature" teens as elders soon. If late teens is now considered a ripe old age for baptism, can the day when the rapidly growing baptized-by-age-7 demographic has a shot at making elder status (while still technically minors) be far behind? I doubt it, especially considering the preschool level the new literature is aimed at.

last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.
one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

There is a 4th type, those who sincerely believe - in the face of all reason - that This Is The Truth.
Those poor souls don't usually last long in the face of the other 3. Or they end up becoming like the other 3.
There's a reason the WT is constantly warning against leading double lives: This organization is a HOTBED - a breeding ground - for double lives. It's what they learn from those in power in the org, many if not most of whom are just as two-faced as any of the poor kids they're constantly chiding.

Frakes DID direct "First Contact", one of the better Star Trek movies IMHO. Maybe he was better off behind the camera.
