Anger is an important emotion in that it is active not passive. When you feel the anger it motivates you to break free. At the moment I am feeling the anger too.

I would respond, I do pray to Jehovah and I pray through Jesus but is this right? The watchtower states that Jesus is only the mediator for the Governing body who should I be praying through if I want to be sure my prayers are heard?

I asked her this morning if she was finding biirthdays to be everything they were cracked up to be?
She said yes they were the best celebration ever with birthday breakfast pancakes, cake, cards, presents and good will messages. She has opened all her presents and keeps carrying her loot round the house. Her brother has really been great, this was the first time one of our children had been given presents on their own and he wasn't a bit jealous or moody but was encouraging her to open gifts. He pointed out all the stuff he'd chosen and was genuinely happy when she expressed delight at what he had picked. I don't know whether this is an autism thing but he does have a very generous spirit.
I am so proud of both of them today.

My problem was that my mum came into the organisation when I was still pre school age. As a new convert she was extremely zealous, so my formative stages of life were also her peak activity in the organisation. This means that you get very little say in what you will believe as you are told by someone who believes with their whole heart that you are in the truth and this is the only way.
You never question you are placed on a conveyor belt of belief heading towards baptism and told the society has all the answers. You are never presented with any alternative faith options or lifestyle choices. So the answer is no you have no chance to choose your own religon in the beginning.

see what happens for "all" who venture into the wicked world
by booby inthis tripe from the june 15 tower.
how many of the witness kids "and adults" get into trouble right within the congregation.
just recently talked to an old friend still in whose witness son in law left his daughter for another and subsequently his daughter got hooked up with that ladys husband.

The society would have us all believe that everyone leaving the organisation or at the very least failing to live up to standards was miserable living a life of regret. The reality is that anyone can make mistakes in their life and anyone can make a success of their life, the organisation is no guarantee of protection, happiness or morality.

Welcome to the board its me. It is difficult, we are told all our lives that this is the truth and the only path to salvation. We are told that any failures are our own. You have taken the first step out of the organisation, the trick is to keep walking. Read the books suggested they will help you see what it is you are really leaving behind and that you do not have to feel a guilt or remorse about your decision.
Your past has been a hard one but your future is full of possibilities if you embrace them. I look forward to reading your posts on the boad.

Thank you all my daughter is delighted with the pictures and we are going to print them off for her scrapbook.
Spawn we left some birthday cake at your place for you and mini spawn although my mum was a bit uncomfortable that we brought it round. She thinks we've compromised on our principles. I told my Dad that we had redefined our boundaries and that this celebration was a way of taking a stand for our principles. After all if the person who made the stupid law had lived a life of denial and had not been a letcherous drunk I might have been more inclined to obey him.
Thank you all again for helping to make our daughters 10th and first birthday a good one.
