New Member...
by sosoconfused inhello everyone, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.. i am a mid 30's just stepped aside elder, who just couldn't handle it anymore.. i am a 3rd generation born-in and former pioneer and bethelite.
it has been a log somewhat confusing ride for me, but i am finally settling in to realizing that i need to really look at what me and my family are doing.. .
its funny though what really got me here... it wasn't the 40 year old men telling me they were looking at boobies on the computer and hoping not to get in trouble, it wasn't the watching young people bail left and right, it wasn't the ever changing new light etc... but a simple thought.. .

How long did it take you to prepare for talks or parts in the KM school?
by OneDayillBeFree inseveral years ago, whenever i got a talk slip i would get really nervous but accept it and work on it almost immediately.
of course that was way back when i still believed it all.. now they gave me a #3 talk out of the blue about a month ago and i had forgotten all about it till the meeting night.
i really thought about not showing up at all but at the last minute, i decided to go.. so when i got there the meeting had already started and so i just stayed in the back looked at the info, found 2 scriptures and then without any notes i went up and gave the stupid talk!.

The weekend before I would prepare the talk and rehearse until I knew it off by heart. This was a habit formed as a child because my mother was usually my householder and she was always going off script. She would say things like "that's nice but what I really wanted to know was..." I found by knowing the material I could easily bring us back on topic and wouldn't have lost my place in my notes.

Another sad non jw falling for a baptised jw girl story
by spirituk inok ,so this is my story , this jw girl came on vacation in my country as a friend of my girl-cousin who is not a jw but were classmates at uni .
my cousin introduced her to me but she didnt tell me that she was a jw from the very first moment we flirt each other.we went on beach ,on bars ,cafes etc and she acted so wordly ,in fact i thought she could be a good one night stand with her behaviour .never saw anything weird about her that could lead me to question something, with the peak in the club where we danced together while hugging very passionatly .
i tried to kiss her that night but she kept her distance , i didnt notice any bad on that.anyway, next day we flirt again at the the beach and at night too .

I am sorry to say that she does not love you as much as you love her. Her religion does not allow her to date non JWs or marry non JWs or have casual sex or French Kiss. You are a problem in her life and a source of guilt. When she was on holiday and there was no chance of being spotted by any JWs who knew her she could be more relaxed. You were a gulity pleasure and a holiday romance. When you threatened her status quo by actually going to see her then you became a huge problem.
She has different ideas about dating, sex and marriage and you threaten those ideas. Do noit underestimnate the level of guilt and manipulation the religion applies to young people.

I certainly have a face for radio and enjoy Mad Sweeny's broadcasts immensely. It would be a shame to loose cult free radio and it is worth expanding.

I think I'm disfellowshiped. I chucked their letter and wouldn't speak to them so I am assuming that is what they did. It has been a real relief quite frankly.

Are you DF'd? Share the weirdness, I'll start.....
by Pickler inso i started a reply on the topic of "what's your status?
" and it made me think about my df hearing (sorry i can't remember the exact term for what happened).. so i was fading, living in a different country, working & making rare appearances at my kingdom hall.
i was flat sharing with a sister though.

I didn't go to my hearing. But they called every hour on the day of the JC and called at 9:30 that night to tell me their decision. I put the phone down on them and someone took the trouble to drive over to my house that night and post letters through the door with the wrong address on them. That was a little creepy. Oh and being cyber stalked and having facebook hacked and having all my JWN posts printed off that was also very creepy. Got to love the obsesssive nature of the religion.

Go on the school website and look at their policy on collective worship, curriculum and teaching of religious education most schools in UK provide a link to this information. Uk schools usually confine Bible stories to RE or assembly times and the story should be presented as a story. Ask the Head teacher to clarify how this topic was being approached in school and what was the aim of the lesson. It may be that your child misunderstood the lesson and the purpose behind it. Also if you are armed with the policy information then you have the tools to challenge anything that is incorrect. Use the meeting to get clarity rather than confrontation. Explain that you are exploring other myths and faiths at home and ask if the school also will be covering other faiths and religions during the year.
Children can also be very literal at that age and have difficulty understanding the difference between reality and fiction. However they grow and develop and change their beliefs and ideas. Many young children believe in Santa but they grow to realise that he is a myth and presents come from mum and dad often God is also viewed differently as they grow older. In a faith school where religion is presented as a way to view the world young children will mimic this too. However as they grow up and move into the more secular world of secondary education they challenge this. What is important is to give them the tools and approval to use education wisely and learn how to take ideas and look at them critically.
Our children attended a Cof E school in Hampshire and have been taught about many religions not just the traditional Christian paradigm. My son now 10 still believes in God and has formed his own opinion of what his faith means to him. My daughter is not religious at all. She is older and once we left the religion she transitioned easily to a more secular viewpoint. My son will develop his ideas in his own time and I am happy to let him make his own discoveries what is important is that he knows that his viewpoint is not the only one and that there are many ways to look at the world. He also knows it is ok to question what you believe and not to accept things on face value. I wouldn't worry too much at this stage but just make sure that the teacher isn't presenting religion as science.
