my elderly JW dad--continued
by bigmac insome readers may recall a thread about my old dad coming to live with me.. after a short time he had to be hospitalised--and now he is in a care home.
ive taken over all his financial affairs--including selling his house.. ive been clearing out the house--and--needless to say--came across tons of wt books--years of old magazines--1000's of them--plus bound volumes going back to the year dot.
i asked him what he wanted me to do with them--and he said dispose of them!.

You did the right thing. They were your father's and he asked you to dispose of them. He didn't ask for them to be sold or given away so you complied with his wishes.
As regards congregation records moist of it is meaningless names and numbers I suppose most of it faked at the time and all of it worthless. The dump was probably a fitting end.

John Cedars Starting A Cult-Free Europe Radio?
by Scott77 inmost of us know that mad sweeney's cult free radio started in the united states has been a resounding success judging by listenship.
my question is,can mr cedars replicate this success with a cult-free radio europe?
any chances of success?

I think there is room for everyone. I definitely think Mad Sweeny should be encouraged to pick up his broadcasts I miss his interview style and insightful broadcasts. I also think that there is an audience in the UK and many stories and information that needs to get out there. With the time difference between the UK and the States there is no conflict with time slots etc. I also feel that Cedars moving into radio is a logical step. I will start looking into how we can all move this on.

New Member...
by sosoconfused inhello everyone, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.. i am a mid 30's just stepped aside elder, who just couldn't handle it anymore.. i am a 3rd generation born-in and former pioneer and bethelite.
it has been a log somewhat confusing ride for me, but i am finally settling in to realizing that i need to really look at what me and my family are doing.. .
its funny though what really got me here... it wasn't the 40 year old men telling me they were looking at boobies on the computer and hoping not to get in trouble, it wasn't the watching young people bail left and right, it wasn't the ever changing new light etc... but a simple thought.. .

How long did it take you to prepare for talks or parts in the KM school?
by OneDayillBeFree inseveral years ago, whenever i got a talk slip i would get really nervous but accept it and work on it almost immediately.
of course that was way back when i still believed it all.. now they gave me a #3 talk out of the blue about a month ago and i had forgotten all about it till the meeting night.
i really thought about not showing up at all but at the last minute, i decided to go.. so when i got there the meeting had already started and so i just stayed in the back looked at the info, found 2 scriptures and then without any notes i went up and gave the stupid talk!.

The weekend before I would prepare the talk and rehearse until I knew it off by heart. This was a habit formed as a child because my mother was usually my householder and she was always going off script. She would say things like "that's nice but what I really wanted to know was..." I found by knowing the material I could easily bring us back on topic and wouldn't have lost my place in my notes.

Another sad non jw falling for a baptised jw girl story
by spirituk inok ,so this is my story , this jw girl came on vacation in my country as a friend of my girl-cousin who is not a jw but were classmates at uni .
my cousin introduced her to me but she didnt tell me that she was a jw from the very first moment we flirt each other.we went on beach ,on bars ,cafes etc and she acted so wordly ,in fact i thought she could be a good one night stand with her behaviour .never saw anything weird about her that could lead me to question something, with the peak in the club where we danced together while hugging very passionatly .
i tried to kiss her that night but she kept her distance , i didnt notice any bad on that.anyway, next day we flirt again at the the beach and at night too .

I am sorry to say that she does not love you as much as you love her. Her religion does not allow her to date non JWs or marry non JWs or have casual sex or French Kiss. You are a problem in her life and a source of guilt. When she was on holiday and there was no chance of being spotted by any JWs who knew her she could be more relaxed. You were a gulity pleasure and a holiday romance. When you threatened her status quo by actually going to see her then you became a huge problem.
She has different ideas about dating, sex and marriage and you threaten those ideas. Do noit underestimnate the level of guilt and manipulation the religion applies to young people.

I certainly have a face for radio and enjoy Mad Sweeny's broadcasts immensely. It would be a shame to loose cult free radio and it is worth expanding.

I think I'm disfellowshiped. I chucked their letter and wouldn't speak to them so I am assuming that is what they did. It has been a real relief quite frankly.

Are you DF'd? Share the weirdness, I'll start.....
by Pickler inso i started a reply on the topic of "what's your status?
" and it made me think about my df hearing (sorry i can't remember the exact term for what happened).. so i was fading, living in a different country, working & making rare appearances at my kingdom hall.
i was flat sharing with a sister though.

I didn't go to my hearing. But they called every hour on the day of the JC and called at 9:30 that night to tell me their decision. I put the phone down on them and someone took the trouble to drive over to my house that night and post letters through the door with the wrong address on them. That was a little creepy. Oh and being cyber stalked and having facebook hacked and having all my JWN posts printed off that was also very creepy. Got to love the obsesssive nature of the religion.
