is there any way the mail symbol could indicate if you have a new message, thus alieviating all the "you have a message" threads. And could the mail show more recent first.

this may come as a shock to some people, but the current forum structure was kind of thrown together without much real thought and then evolved a bit over time.
there are a few things that particularly grate on me and areas where i don't think the subjects work particularly well.
'friends' is a bit vague and becomes a dumping ground, news & world events vs politics & current affairs is hard to decide sometimes, child abuse is a scandal but isn't contained withing 'scandals & coverups' etc.... with a new forum platform imminent, it's a good time to solicit ideas to improve things.

i have a free day sunday and would love to meet up with a mentally diseased apostate.
i am staying in the lax marriott..
OK I am leaving for Heathrow. I look forward to meeting some new aposta buddies.......
most businesses have secrets which they guard carefully.. .
governments too.. .
charities likewise.. .
If they want privacy then they also have to accept legal obligations to be open and honest in other areas. They cannot set themselves above other organisations that have a legal obligation to protect children or lie in a court of law about how many members are paedophiles. They are untrustworthy and therefore have yet to earn the right to have secrets.
Quite frankly most of what they believe is a secret to their own members since it is almost impossible to stay awake at meetings and process the lessons.
Well done on your change to a new job. I hope you start being valued as much as you deserve and start building a brighter future for yourself.
i have just been going over the candace conti case and it struck me that one of the things i'd like to see come out of this case is that jehovahs witnesses stop involving children in the door to door work.
so what would you say to them to make them re-think this issue..
In the old testament children were involved in all aspects of worship therefore witnesses would argue that since field service is part of worship it is acceptable to allow children to participate.
However in the Candace Conti case it was noteworthy that she went on the service alone trying to be the best witness she could be. This left her vulnerable and unprotected. No parent should leave their child without knowing who they are with.
i have been lurking here for months now, and i just decided to post here and actually interact with this community.
i have a very specific/unordinary life, so i will not divulge too much information to protect my privacy.
i am a baptized publisher who is under the age of 25 who attends college, and i do have responsiblities within the congregation.
You are young and have time to plan and make a smooth transition. Work on building a life outside the witnesses now. Get your education and do not allow yourself to be discouraged from this. Start making friends outside the organisation who like you for who you are not what you believe. Start moving towards financial independence since if you leave you will be cut off from any support so planning and preparation now will help to reduce pain later. Remember your adoptive family are slaves to a cult but time is on your side since they are waiting for a war that will not come.
the drama continues, i log on to facebook this morning and notice that i have about 20 some odd personal messages from people calling me an apostate to they will return to me when i return to jehovah.. all of this based upon my brother informing others that i have "apostate thoughts".
my mother also encourage long-time famil friends to "unfriend" me because i have taken my stand on the side of satan... wow.
don't you just love this international brotherhood.
So after your brother said he wasnt going to talk about your business he went on to discuss you with others. Sounds very trustworthy to me. Your mother sounds a bit of a hysteric too. Desperate to bring you back in line but can't see what a bully she is being.
this is funny i mean really.
the article is stating what jehovahs witnesses believe... not what the paper thinks of them.. my wife found this one... this is her first catch that she found herself and she is tickled pink lol.

poor research not shunned - so attending a meeting where no one speaks to you or will associate with you outside the meeting is not being shunned. Has the definition of the word changed since I last used it?
it's clear that virtually everyone on here is infuriated by wt teachings/doctrines/practices, but i would really like to know what is of most concern to people who frequent this forum.. here is my top 5, number 1 being the most significant/infuriating:.
the disfellowshipping practice - expanded to include family members (but not parents) who are old enough to leave home.
wrecks families and creates abject fear once people find out the truth about the organization.the blood issue - another unmerciful teaching, but one that costs lives.unquestioned authority of governing body - a handful of men make life-altering decisions as representatives of a larger group of people who they never see or speak to, and yet they demand unquestioning obedience on pain of being disfellowshipped.failed prophecy - the fulfilment of huge swathes of bible prophecy, including revelation, has been attributed to the events of the early 20th century, and the actions of a small group of men.two-tier christianity - faithful and discreet slave are anointed who go to heaven to whom ransom provisions apply directly, whereas remainder, or "great crowd" stay on earth and form a sub-class, only access benefits of ransom through fds.i realise that many of these issues are inter-related, but that's roughly how i would put them.
Any doctrine that causes harm is a source of irritation
Blood doctrine - which changes over time but is enforced without mercy. Families who would rather see their loved ones die than risk the consequences of receiving life saving medication.
Shunning - Unloving, unchristian, cruely applied with no empathy. When people are disfellowshipped in order to be made an example of and the inbalance and lack of equity so that elders children are forgiven but others are punnished is disgusting.
2 witness rule and protection of the reputation of the religion over protection of the flock is a stench and a disgusting practice.
Social isolation so that children grow up awkward and with low self esteem is a travesty. The denial of education, the denial of people being allowed to grow and be the best they can be is painful to watch. Isolation from peers so that these children are socially awkward and don't understand how to protect themselves or interact around others. This means that they associate only with other social misfits and also feel pressured to rush into marriage, leading to long term misery. This also means that the literature produced by the society is a joke since the membership is left with only a basic understanding of research and accepts everything however poorly researched.
Insistance that the current doctrine is the truth even when that doctrine is constantly changing. People do not keep up with the changes, most are ignorant of the current beliefs and yet will not research what the believe when challenged. Happy to be ignorant and contemptuous of everyone else even when they are obviously wrong. Leads to arrogance that is underseved and unjustified.
I am all angry now need a cup of tea to calm down and some soft music.
this is a letter i received today with my brother turning on me based on something that was told to him by my crazy mother.
he works for me, yet has not spoken a word to me in months because he is a self-righteous little dick.. .
what i would like to know from someone who knows the law, is it possible i can sue him if he pressures people to not work with me because of my religious beliefs????
What does his contract of employment say? Does he have to work a period of notice? How important is he in the business and how easy is he to replace? If he has breached those he may be subject to penalties.
It sounds as if he is being pressured by your mother to take this stand. He is taking the path of least resistance and whilst he says he loves you unconditionally the fact that he is resigning shows very clearly that there are conditions on his affection.
A typical knee jerk response and it carries the threat that although he will do nothing for now, things may change in future. I would seek legal advice but witnesses are a self righteous bunch and love to gossip. Some may be able to justify working for an apostate but once they start putting pressure on them they will crumble. Start looking at how exposed you would be if every witness you employ resigns. Hope for the best and plan for the worst.
