I think that it was well put together and by juxtaposing Scientology with the Witnesses it was a helpful way to bring home that certain practices are cult practices. The experts in the program highlighted the elder arrangement and judicial committees as particularly problematic and a signature of cults as well as the shunning. The stories were not lurid and were dealt with in a very compassionate way.

So proud of you although I feel that these revelations will make little difference to the elders concerned.
Be proud of yourself for making the stand that you needed to make.

what happens when one informs elders that one's baptism was invalid?
by quincemyles inis it possible to move from baptized publisher to unbaptized status perpetually?
what do elders do when you inform them that your baptism was invalid?

I know of a sister who asked to be rebaptised but don't know why exactly. It did not involve wrong doing only that she didn't feel that she had made a proper dedication to Jehovah previously.
I think they are happy to double dip but not to write off a previous dedication as invalid.

Is homosexuality ever justifiable? I say YES!!!
by TimothyT inin the january 2012 awake, pages 28-29 there is another article about homosexuality.. .
the writers argue that genetics, the environment, and sexual abuse do not justify homosexuality.
the bible clearly states that homosexuality is wrong and is an abhorrent sin.

venting: My wife is in cult mode again! she tried to start a fight..
by goingthruthemotions inso when i was at luch today, my wife was in full cult mode.
she started in on me about us not being able to hang with other witnesses and when i go to the meetings with her that i don't talk with nobody nor pay attention and act angry.
i told her that i don't want to fight and i have better things to do than argue.

If she has no friends in the organisation then who is she expecting to socialise with? Were her friendships historically your friends and she came along as your spouse or is she longing for an ideal you never had. JWs don't in general socialise extensively there are too many things to do. If you are not part of a clique then often social events are few and far between.
It seems to me that she raises hell about you not attending because this makes the meetings difficult. When you go she is angry because you don't play the happy spiritual man. She has a template in her head of what a JW family should be like and you are not playing ball.
Perhaps it may be time to set a baseline if you no longer wish to attend meetings then don't, tell your wife that you respect her and appreciate that she has the right to make her own choices regarding religion. If she wishes to attend meetings then she should go but for the moment you will not be accompanying her.
If she wishes to socialise then perhaps she should make the first move and hold a small gathering for sisters whilst you are at work. Coffee and cake is all that is required after a service arrangement especially if the territory being worked is close by. Or perhaps she should start with family and invite family round for a weekend meal or barbeque. Passively waiting for invites sucks and leads to disappointment.
If she continues to be unreasonable then it may be worth reassessing the situation but at least you will have tried a compromise.

feign illness a stomach upset is a good out. Or attend the first day and when you get home say you have a headache and need to go to bed early. In the morning complain the headache is still there and you feel dizzy so need to go back to bed.
Feigning illness can be complicated because you have to remain ill when they are home and that can be limiting depending on what you pick you have to decline food or be in bed a lot as if you seem to be improving they may expect you to go.
If you do attend complain that you have pulled a muscle in your back so need to go for a walk as the chairs make it worse. say you will listen to the program on you phone/radio. You can listen to whatever you like.

Like Mother like Daughter - Our Daughter is becoming quite accomplished with anime art

Barrold you are welcome to your opinion even if I don't agree with it. I do not agree that any part of the drawing fails to follow the rules of this particular anime style. Anime is not just one style but many and some are more edgy than others in the same way that art of any kind covers a wide spectrum of ideas and representations. The competition required that the male character had a tail so the drawing accurately reflects the writers brief.
Anime tends to represent idealised women but it is the artist that can make it more suggestive. As the artist in question is relatively young I do not think that the picture intends to convey any hidden message or undertone.

its a competition entry for 2 psychotic characters don't know what the other parameters were. They get a theme and have to work with it.
Brilliant shading and great characterisation she should win this one.

truly disgusting display of religious hypocrisy. We had a similar experience my mother had a fall and broke her hip, my father a non JW had arranged for her to have surgery with blood and she was ok with it. My JW sister went to the hospital and made my mother insist on bloodless surgery, as a result she had another fall and broke her hip again because she was so anemic following 8 hours on the operating table. That was 2 years ago and my mum has barely walked since. My dad was livid he is now my mums carer having to deal with all that involves my JW sister tells her she will walk again in paradise and encourages her not to make an effort now whilst doing nothing practical to help my Dad. The other JWs are worse than useless. Words cannot express my anger at these people, they have hearts of stone and arrogance that they don't compromise whilst non believers are left to pick up the pieces.

Do you believe Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body is the "faithful slave"?
by Marvin Shilmer inthis question is known to be posed by jws to other jws as an acid test of loyalty.
i'm not the first to notice what i'm about to point out and comment accordingly, but today i felt compelled to add a short article on my blog highlighting the new language that governing body member geoffrey jackson supplies as a response.
a person who honestly hesitates to respond with a robust "yes!

He may have stated that they were not God's spokesmen but it would not be the only lie he told the RC. If they do not believe that they are gods representatives on Earth ,which should have been the wording of the question, then why can people be disfellowshipped for refusing to accept this fact?
