Need Help with Blood Transfusion Illustration
by Dissonant15 inplease, who can provide an intelligent rebuttal to the following illustration?
i always thought it was bullet-proof:.
"if your doctor directs you to 'abstain from alcohol' would you be ok to have it injected into your veins rather than drink it?
-

Context is key with scripture. What did the original audience understand this instruction to mean?
When a doctor tells you to abstain from alcohol he is referring specifically to drinking alcohol, not alcohol in hand cleansers, perfumes or mouthwash. In the context of the scripture it is referring to the specific situation described above and was not a cover all. If it was intended as a prescriptive instruction where would you stop? How would you dress a wound, deal with menstruation, clean teeth with bleeding gums? What would you do if you accidentally swallowed blood from a cut lip?
This is the issue when you take a line of scripture and do not fully understand the purpose or background you are in danger of going beyond the things written which is a popular witness quote.

Is this a subtle clue that the leaders really see the "great tribulation" of the WT coming soon?
by never a jw insimilarly, we cannotexpect that the future interruption inthe great tribulation will result in aninflux of new believers.
rather, it willbe an opportunity for all true believersto prove their love for jehovah andgive their support to christs brothers.. (par.
7, page 16, wt july 2015).

The message is a reinforcement of the need to be loyal to the GB ie. brothers PROVE their love for Jehovah by being loyal to the organisation. This is more about control than an expectation of Gods Judgement.

Today's Special Day Assembly Expenses and the $10,499 Deficit. Silent Majority?
by Tenacious intoday i attended a one-day assembly in my hometown.
i knew when it came time to read the afternoon expenses that it would be an incredibly high and ridiculous amount that was nowhere near the real expenses for that day.
sure enough, after lunch came the announcement.

The issue they are starting to face is that members are being asked for money every which way with monthly donations and handing over the kingdom hall accounts. It is little wonder that when you are being squeezed for cash so often that at an assembly the call for yet more money is ringing a little hollow. Time was when accounts reports and the very occasional talk about donations was all you heard now it seems that Caleb videos targeting the young plus multiple financial arrangements and talks seem to be dominating the program like never before.
It is money more than doctrine that may be the straw that broke the camels back. Older witnesses still remember the Russell quote about god looking after the organisation and if they sought donations then it would be a sign that God had withdrawn his support.

So sorry for your mum.. She needs love and support and a chance to fully recover. Elders are so confident of their own authority that their zeal will overcome their common decency. This seems to fit more with the pharisees than the example of Jesus they are constantly stating they follow.
Jesus didn't punish the woman with the flow of blood who touched him even though she was unclean, he healed her. What your mum required was compassion and if they felt blood was so important then forgiveness and a chance to express repentance if they felt that was required. When faced with a life or death decision how can anyone judge another for the choice they make to live. Your mother deserved a chance to live and be happy, to be cared for when she was sick and to be treated with the kindness her age and frail condition deserve. Men who cannot see that are not motivated by a higher power but by their own Huberis.

I think that it was well put together and by juxtaposing Scientology with the Witnesses it was a helpful way to bring home that certain practices are cult practices. The experts in the program highlighted the elder arrangement and judicial committees as particularly problematic and a signature of cults as well as the shunning. The stories were not lurid and were dealt with in a very compassionate way.

So proud of you although I feel that these revelations will make little difference to the elders concerned.
Be proud of yourself for making the stand that you needed to make.

what happens when one informs elders that one's baptism was invalid?
by quincemyles inis it possible to move from baptized publisher to unbaptized status perpetually?
what do elders do when you inform them that your baptism was invalid?
-

I know of a sister who asked to be rebaptised but don't know why exactly. It did not involve wrong doing only that she didn't feel that she had made a proper dedication to Jehovah previously.
I think they are happy to double dip but not to write off a previous dedication as invalid.
