Update: Got my Judicial Committee cancelled
by Sanchy inoriginal thread here.
update: so, after the meeting i had with elders a few weeks ago as outlined in my original thread, they met as a body and once again called to tell me that after considering my case they still thought a judicial committee should be held against me and asked to be there "thursday at 7:30".

by seekinghelpp inok not to throw no shade or no disrespect to the jw religion.
which i truly do respect because my girlfriend is part of but i just don't understand, i have researched so much about it.

Dating outside the organisation is a huge no no. In the Bible the early Christians were told not to be unevenly yoked with unbelievers. In the JW world this is anyone who does not follow their faith including other christian denominations. Because this is an instruction in the Bible it is seen as a command from God so failure to follow this command is showing disloyalty to God. This person is not demonstrating the right attitude and could be marked by the congregation as someone who is not a good associate.
If they suspect you have been alone together they may decide to hold a judicial committee for fornication or brazen conduct which can result in disfellowshipping. If she repents she will be asked to cease the relationship as demonstration that she has the right attitude.
In a local congregation a witness girl started a relationship with a non believer. This person subsequently started a study and they got married. All the elders that attended the wedding were removed as elders. The feeling was even though he studied the relationship was a sign of disobedience.
In my old congregation a sister who got engaged to a non JW had a marking talk given to the whole congregation saying what a dreadful thing this was and she was to be considered a bad association.
Your relationship is under tremendous pressure JWs are not people swayed by true love everything is subordinate to loyalty to the organisation. I cannot see this ending well as the congregation will try to humiliate the girl you love to get her to conform and it is possible she will start to resent you as the perceived cause ofher pain.

Why Do People Become Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus inbesides being raised in the religion , why do people become jws?

It offers them validation that they are special. It gives them an opportunity to have authority and status when otherwise there would be nothing extraordinary about them.
Egocentric and narcissistic people seem to be drawn to the religion don't know why.

Second in the Medal Table - Well Done TeamGB
by konceptual99 incan't believe it - gb is currently second in the medal table, with more golds and silvers combined than even china.
given the size of the nation it's an incredible achievement and we have won in some sports where other countries typically dominate.
i can't imagine we will stay in second but i am happy to enjoy the moment.. well done to the whole of team gb!.

Why is it so hurtful to be shunned? Why object to it?
by stuckinarut2 init seems like many feel hurt or saddened by the practice of shunning by witnesses.. yes, when ones who we were close to, perhaps family or ones we thought were close friends choose to follow the warped directions of the society, it may seem hurtful.. but really, our reaction is up to us.
the fact is, these ones have shown that in reality, their love for us was never real or genuine.
no, those relationships were superficial and lacking in substance.

When it comes to friends in the organisation that now choose to shun it does not upset me.It irritates me that as adults they allow themselves to behave in this way and that they bully ex members. As adults they make their own choices I accept that their friendship was fragile and conditional.
Shunning by family hurts, it is meant to hurt as it is a coercive technique meant to bully people into doing something they do not wish to do. When you are told by family they love you it means something and you have higher expectations of family members. When they behave just like everyone else sometimes worse than others you realise you were never loved unconditionally that the relationship was never what you imagined it was. That they are controlled by people they never met it can throw you off balance. It is hard to accept that especially since everything they do is based on a lie.

Talk on "Reaching Out"-Only What BOE Thinks Matters
by Simon Templar infor the “living as christians” section of the workbook, “are you reaching out?” talk (15 min), the bethelite gave this talk at the meeting.
he totally departed from the subject matter which is the watchtower of september 15, 2014, pages 3-6. he was so far off the reservation, it wasn't funny.
here are a few highlights of what was said: 1) if any brother asked why they haven’t been appointed, and wants to know if there is a problem or condition that exists, that brother is too “presumptuous” and therefore, can’t be used.
-

Funny that the talk was about reaching out and the substance of the talk was about discouraging brothers from showing ambition. In the past brothers were able to ask why they hadn't been chosen so they knew what to work on now it isa sign of presumption.
Nothing like this religion for treating people like morons.

Jehovah`s Witnesses Boasted They have No Clergy Laity Class ?
by smiddy inwell that`s what was impressed on me to differentiate between the true religion and false religion , when i was converted in 1960 , do they still claim that ?
believing that they still do , i will say this.. what about ,:the governing body who definitely are set apart from the rank and file for their attitude towards the r&f , but also from the attitude of the r&f towards the governing body members.many do seem to idolise gb members by their actions , and the gb members dont seem to discourage that.. and not only for their attitude , how about their life-style , being housed in bethel with all the mod -cons of modern civilization as opposed to a r&f member living in a third world country .does the wt society do anything to make their lifestyle improve ?
{ did jesus have a place to rest his head ?

The society is sneaky what they should say is they do not have paid clergy. They most certainly have a structure and a hierarchy with publishers at the bottom with no influence and an expectation that they will provide financial support.
Ministerial servants, Elders, COs and the governing body provide the rule enforcement and doctrine. Just as popes, cardinals and bishops do in the catholic church and arch bishops, bishops and vicars do in the protestant church.

Lessons learned from the outcome of bloodless emergency laparotomies on Jehovah’s Witness women
by OrphanCrow inthe wt has promoted bloodless surgery as a viable (and better) alternative to surgery with blood transfusions.. i have found a medical study that has been used to back up these "evidence based" claims.
the title of the article is lessons learned from the outcome of bloodless emergency.
these mostly indigent patients died of peritonitis becauseof delays in payment for antibiotics.

So it looks as if their study was based on patient records rather than being set up as an independent study with participants recruited and screened. This mean that there was no way of ensuring parity across both groups.
