i know this has been briefly covered before but some of the link in old threads are no longer working.

How many homes are there and where are they located?
We have four homes. Blackpool, Leyland and Merthyr Tydfil are all registered for residential care and our home in Wigan is registered for residential and nursing care.

What availability is there for respite care?
At least one room in every home is designated for respite care. A booking can be confirmed only when Jah-Jireh has agreed that your care needs can be met.

I am my mother’s/father’s main carer and I am struggling to cope. Can you help?
Yes we can. Provided we can meet the required care needs, we can offer respite care (minimum of one week) to help you to have a break from your caring role. Your local Social Services team may agree to assist you with the funding if you meet their criteria.

Could I receive regular respite care?
Yes, provided we have rooms available and we can meet your needs. We welcome brothers and sisters back repeatedly for respite breaks. You may be able to obtain council funding for a number of weeks per year.

What is in a respite room?
Our respite rooms contain a bed, 2 sets of drawers, a wardrobe and an armchair. They usually have a TV as well.

How can I contact a social worker?
If you contact your local council and ask for the Adult Social Care team, a duty officer will take your details and refer you to a social worker who may then contact you to make arrangements to visit you.

You could to discuss this with your local council. They may be able to help you with their ‘Deferred Payments’ scheme. In any case please contact our admissions team to discuss your options.

See below the marketing spiel for one of their homes in Wigan in the UK. My MIL worked there for a while. I have heard rumours that the working practices were as you would expect from a JW focused business. I.e. they employed JWs but then wouldn't pay extra for Christmas working.

Our home in Wigan was purchased in 1995 and opened in 1996 after renovations were completed. Jah-Jireh Wigan is different from our other care homes as it is also registered as a Nursing Home and cares for some of our more frail residents. We care for the elderly and also some younger brothers and sisters who have physical disabilities. It is a two storey building with lounges and sitting areas on both levels. The lounges and dining room overlook the gardens which are beautifully maintained with comfortable sitting areas that can be utilised for entertaining visitors.

We have nurses on duty 24 hours a day who work under the close direction of both our Nursing Manager (an RGN) and Business Manager, along with a team of experienced carers, 40% of which have been working with us for more than 5 years.

I have heard the thing about building halls in Africa.Where specifically in Africa? How many halls? I can find lots o images of halls being sold have yet to see halls that have been built.

Seeking info - murder suicide in WA Australia - were they Witnesses?

hey guys.

a grandfather murdered his wife, daughter and 4 grandkids.. the father says his kids are in a "new system" and says his god is "jehovah".

the grandparents lived on a farm and called it their "foreever farm".

A real tragedy. Whether the murderer was a JW is unclear but he seems like a very controlling person. I think it is unlikely we will ever know what was in his mind.

Reaction to baptism figures

talking about tomorrow's wt study, that mentions over a quarter of a million baptized every year, a jw asked how many that is a day.

i got out my calculator and answered over 778 a day.

of course they were amazed at the growth, but immediatly i googled another statistic and read it aloud:.

not too impressive when you look at it as a percentage. Also when you balance it against inactives, df'd and Da'd individuals and natural loss through death they are barely breaking even.

Also how many are new to the faith and how many are children strong armed into baptism?

i am having trouble understanding paragraph 5. it says: .

The quote is from the child protection policy.

Firstly the Elders are instructed to consult the branch not the police. The branch will tell them if the law demands they report it if not they are not obligated to do so. The balance is that they don't. No change really.

They can tell the authorities if the child is deemed to be in danger so in theory if the matter has come to the attention of the elders then they may feel that the child is no longer in danger since the parents are aware and will take precautions. If the abuser is a parent then they may feel that if the other parent is aware then they will take responsibility for the safety of the child. The policy states that the parents have the responsibility to protect the child not the elders.

The policy also calls child abuse a sin not a crime. It should say that child abuse is a crime and should be reported to the authorities on every occasion. The elders can then deal with the spiritual aspect if they wish but the police will be able to carry out the investigation and prosecution.

The policy is extremely weak and not fit for purpose. No other organisation would be able to get away with this approach. The bottom line is children attend meetings, they are encouraged to fully participate in congregation activities and make a commitment to the organisation as early as possible therefore they have a right to expect that the adults overseeing congregation matters will take safeguarding seriously.

So much wrong with today's text....

"jehovah takes the initiative to bless his loyal servants.".

this statement is a contradiction or on oxymoron or something.... if they already had to demonstrate loyalty before he acted then he did not take the initiative!.

our faith is not complete unless we are convinced that jehovah will reward....yes faith involves the certain expectation of gods promised blessings.. so they condemn people for "serving to a date", the carrot if you like, and being disappointed when there blessings do not materialise at the promised time... yet say that the carrot is an important part of faith!!!.

It is hard to see what blessings have been poured out. They will suggest that the blessings are all spiritual whilst people want for education, food to eat, places to live, loving families and physical help.

A life with little joy is lacking the basic components to be a successful life. When the kids ask whats for dinner I'll let them know that blessings are coming.

I think I was terribly wrong...

i have once commented under the topic "are you better off as a worldly person or a jw?

i am a born-in but left nearly a year ago at age 16. i would say when i was a jw and was still fully convinced that it is the truth, i was happier.

i have a hope then.

I was 10 in 1975 when the world was supposed to end. I was not expected to leave school in this system.

I was 22 in 1988 when they had the talk " Responsible childbearing in this time of the end" where I was told that there were no children on Noah's ark and couples should postpone starting a family until the new order.

I was told as a young adult not to pursue education or a career because my life in this system is temporary I would not grow old.

I am 53 this year had I followed their advice I would have missed out on family life. I would be struggling to make ends meet. I would have lived an unfulfilled life, Knowing sooner and getting out whilst you have a chance to live the life that makes you happy is so important. If you waste the opportunity then that is on you.

Proposed Georgia(USA) Assembly Hall Collected Funds, 3.5 Million Dollars, donated to the World Wide Work

from 2012 thru 2016, congregations in georgia and alabama collected funds to build a new assembly hall in south atlanta.

to date, 3.5 million dollars was collected and 75 acres was purchased.

the branch decided that this assembly hall was not needed.
