In the old youth book it was suggested that dates take place in public places such as museums and galleries. That way you can be with your boyfriend but not alone. It is ridiculous that you have no opportunity to discuss things that will be important to you both. IT is also ridiculous that you can not spend time in each others company. There are many people outside the organisation who go on adult dates which don't end in sex. If you want to stand by the principles of no sex before marriage that is up to you however do not let this fear of doing something wrong mean that you end up marrying someone to have sex and failing to ensure that this person is someone you can truly be your partner in life.

Jehovah’s Witness dating rules
by Addison0998 ini’m sorry that i talk about dating a lot, i know it is probably very annoying, but you don’t have to read it.
but did anyone else have the most difficult time dating as a young jw?
me and my boyfriend have been dating for a year in half, we are in our early 20’s, and we are still not allowed to hold hands, cuddle or kiss.

The first time my now husband kissed me was the day we got engaged. Even after that when we were buying a flat to be our first home he was terrified that we would be spotted in the car on our own when we were going to the solicitors. Whilst dating we were never alone. We were always in a group. We dated for nearly 3 years before getting married which is unusual for JWs since the pressure to marry quickly is very high. This explains why so many marriages fail. It helped that we were in different congregations so we didn't sit together at meetings and most people didn't know we were dating.
Looking back it was ridiculous That being said we have been managed for 30 years.

J.W`s Taking the Oath To Tell The Truth on The Bible / Affirmation
by smiddy3 inhow outdated is the compulsion of people before the law courts of the land to take an oath on the bible to /swear on the bible to tell the truth and nothing but the truth so help me god.or its equivalent affirmation.?.
and even if you do claim to believe in god but feel giving information to those who don`t deserve it then withholding such information is justified as theocratic warfare deliberately misleading those seeking such information.. if you don`t believe in a god ,you can lie all you like .. and in the case of geoffrey jackson at the a.r.c.
into institutions of child sexual abuse ,he had no problem misleading ,another word for lying to the a.r.c.

In the UK you can swear and affirm to tell the truth as an alternative to swearing on a holy book. At the end of it all people will still lie if they think they can get away with it.

Jehovah’s Witness girl could receive blood against her will during childbirth
by Tahoe inhttps://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2018/aug/31/jehovahs-witness-girl-could-receive-blood-against-her-will-during-childbirth.
a jehovah’s witness girl may be forced to receive a blood transfusion against her will this weekend when she gives birth in melbourne.. victoria’s mercy hospital was granted supreme court authority on friday to give the girl blood as a “last resort” if she suffers a postpartum haemorrhage when induced into labour on sunday afternoon.. the 17-year-old first-time mother is considered to be at increased risk of haemorrhaging because she is of “small stature” and the baby is large, meaning she may have a long labour, an assisted birth or an emergency caesarean section.. jehovah’s witnesses forbid followers from receiving blood transfusions or blood products.. the risk to the baby from the mother refusing blood is considered low.. the human tissue act has a provision that minors may be given blood transfusions without parental consent, but it was edited in 1994 with the concept of a “mature minor” who could “make up their own mind”, the court was told on friday.. however, the child psychiatrist campbell paul told the hearing he did not believe the girl had the “decision-making capacity” to be considered as having “gillick competence” – a term used to describe whether a child can consent to their own medical treatment.. paul said the girl had “been through considerable disruption and trauma through her life” and had “transgressed a major value of her family and her community” by having pre-marital sex.. “you could imagine that she feels very frightened” and worried about “further punishment”, he said.. the obstetrician and gynaecologist jacqueline van dam told the court she was concerned about the girl’s “naivety” that if anything happened, “she would be protected by her faith”.. she said several strategies could be undertaken first in the case of haemorrhage, such as injecting a drug to limit bleeding or stitching the uterus.. the girl’s mother, who said she would not consent to the hospital administering blood to her daughter, told the court receiving a transfusion would have a significant impact on the girl’s wellbeing.. “being forced to have that done against her will would be something like having violence done to her or being raped,” she said in a statement read to the court.. “she wants to do the right thing by jehovah, by god.”.
justice cameron macaulay granted mercy hospital the authority to give the girl a transfusion if necessary as “a last resort” but only if they first used all other strategies to stop the bleeding and obtained authority from two doctors.. “i’m not satisfied that [the girl] has the maturity to understand the consequences of her choice,” he said.. “i do not consider that allowing her, in effect, to choose to die ... is in her best interests.” .

I always think that likening a blood transfusion to rape is a terrible analogy. It is designed to create an atmosphere of fear and disgust so that the person receiving blood and those administering it feel that they are in some way violating the recipient. That the mother made this statement and would rather her daughter die shows she is not an appropriate person to advocate for her daughter. It may also explain how she got into difficulties in the first place.

The exorcist. I remember the hype when it was released nd the expected condemnation by religious groups. I actually finally got to see it a couple of years ago and was very disappointed. A lot of people drinking coffee with some shock scenes to break it up. Any spoof of the film ever has covered all the best bits in 5 minutes.

The glue of disfellowshiping
by Sour Grapes inthe fear or threat of being disfellowshipped is what is keeping thousands of jdubs stuck in the borg.
the borg knows that and constantly reminds the witlesses of this loving provision from their desert god.. this forces thousands of people to live miserable lives.
millions of jdubs live for the promised panda and lion petting zoo while pissing away the only life they will ever have.

When you accept that there are other things more important than the congregation you can walk away. I am so glad that I can live my life without fear, express my thoughts and see the world and people around me without feeling the need to judge them. I was lucky to leave with my husband and children. I was lucky to have some family outside the organisation so that shunning although painful was not devastating. It is cruel, deliberately so and yes it does mean that people with a lot to lose feel trapped. If several generations of your family are all witnesses then the pressur to conform is huge.

Anyone pissed at their parents for raising you in the cult?
by blownaway inmy mother was not the most emotionally stable person.
she was a follower and instilled in me the idea we were better than those worldly people.
its hard to go to school as a child and you can not be friends outside of school, you can not celebrate any holidays, and you are told all these people are going to die.

There is a degree of anger and regret. My mum was the right personality type to be attracted to the organisation. She allowed the organisation to take precedent over everything and trusted them totally. This meant that when abuse happened she looked to the elders and allowed them to deal with a situation that should have been reported to the Police. She broke the family driving wedges between us and is unaware and does not accept the damage her religion ha caused.
When I had my own children I could see very quickly that the religion was not understanding of their needs. I knew field service was mortifying and meetings were boring and sometimes inappropriate for small children. I could see them being crushed by this religion and could not accept it. Their needs were instrumental in my decision to leave and I cannot understand why for my mother the needs of her children were not important.

News spot for JW convention - keep barf bags ready

Totally bait and switch. Saying that they offer help dealing with the problems and anxieties they face where in reality it is about conditioning the faithful to be obedient to the directives of the GB. To stick with the crazy because the world hates JWs and is corrupt.
No collections but plenty of collection boxes.

my husband is on business in Germany and was watching the Korea Germany game in the hotel. He had to leave after Korea scored their second goal knocking Germany out of the competition because he couldn't restrain himself from yelling "Yes!!" in a room full of Germans.
He may make it home alive but who knows.
