How can you test whether you have broken free of the mind control

it's been less than a year but i think i am nearly there.. i can read through a mag or sit through a meeting and instantly see through the bs.. i can watch the news without thinking is this a part of the composite sign.. i see people for what they are without trying to pigoen hole them.. i'm not worried what the elders think.. however,.

i still show too much interest if i see something about a jw in the media.. i notice kingdom hall if driving through a new place.. i still want to stop and say hello if i see a group of witnesses on the street.. how do you guys and gals measure the progress of your exit from the cult?.

Leaving the organisation is very much a mourning process I don't think I'm quite through it yet. I know for certain that this is not God's mouthpiece on Earth and I know that they are wrong. I feel sorry for nice people who like me believe a lie but cannot see it. I don't feel sorry for those lording it over the flock since it is these very ones that help people see the light. Long may they prosper.

I feel more for other people and the impact my leaving the organisation would have on them. I am a bit like a bee in a jar desperate to be out but not yet in a position to be free.

LAST NIGHT..!

i finally went out on a 'ministry' work.

with a bit of help, i took all of my anti witness leaflets and put them through the doors of as many witnesses as i could in a 2hour time period.

it was the easiest and most exhilirating thing i've ever done.

i felt motivated to write a mini account on why would someone like me leave the truth.

my father was one of the leaders of the socialist movement party in my country of origin, as such, he was influenced by the marxisms view on religion, karl marx once said religion the opiate of the masses.

Thank you for sharing. Its not the people it's the books that the society is afraid of. After all millions of people from other faiths manage to go to university without going into spiritual meltdown . I always believed that it was primarily the association the society objected to now I know that is not the case.

Hubby took 3 hours to get home yesterday but all here safe and warm. Took a quick stock check of the cupbaords so will be ok for a few days. Too early for Red Cross parcels. School closed so fabulous fun for all.

Watching day time tv and making soup.

Would it be fair to compare JWs to Terrorist Organisations?

-terrorists are prepared to die for their course,.

-jws are prepared to die for jehovah.. 2 terrorists treat those with different views as enemies,.

2 jws treat 'worldly people' as enemies.. 3 terrorists are brainwashed from a young age,.

No I don't feel that it is a fair comparison on anything other than a superficial level.

Terrorists don't engage on a campaign to convert people to their point of view rather they plant the bomb and they let people die with little or no warning. JWs don't expect to be engaged in violence on any level that is up to others and they would say that they have engaged in a warning work to persuade people to change their views to avoid destruction.

Terrorists expect to die and kill as many along with them as possible. JWs who die for their faith do so in isolation. They do not expect to die.

The organisation uses terror of armagegedon to keep people in line, the threat is future. Terrorist use terror of immediate reprisals from members e.g. death to keep their members in line. Their violence is final and immediate.

It is more useful to compare with other cults this is where the true similarities lie.

loving someone vs. being in love vs. infatuation....

help me out here...i guess that there are all levels of love esp in a marriage.

with the tiger woods mess the news is there are many reasons people stay in marriages even when there is little or no love.... i have been infatuated before and i freakin love it!!!

!.....and btw...many a long term romance starts with infatuation...in fact i wonder how many people really in love started with it?

Love is something you miss when it's gone. If you have it keep hold of it.

I was infatuated once I was young. it was unpleasant while it lasted. We had nothing in common and ultimately made each other miserable in the end.

A list of Witness doctrines that have gotten Brothers killed or beaten! Suggestions?

1. obviously the original blood doctrine from the 1950'-1970's banned all blood products of any sort causing many deaths.

{latter revised due to bad publicity and many deaths}.

2. organ transplants are banned till 1980.

Banning of Party cards in Malawi.

Shunning which has led some to deal with complex issues such as sexulaity in isolation feeling abandoned by those they needed. In some sad cases some have decided to kill themselves.

The hope of never dying has led to people postponing operations thinking the end was coming soon. All the children never born because paradise was just round the corner. This leaves all this older generation with no family to leave their worldly goods to so the society benefits.

I am sure that there are many other examples the yearbooks are full of them.

i don't like to dig deep into the bible... am i bad?

i totally appreciate the posters who have a ton of bible knowledge and love research, but me being a witness for a few decades find myself not really interested in many of the discussions here and at the meeting.

the current "grace/undeserved kindness" post by sir82 is a prime example.. first off i do know that my personality is to be sceptical about most things, and i usually focus on things that i can see or are more simple, especially if it is a topic i am less interested in.. but am i bad because i don't really care if jesus died on a cross of stake?

or i am not interested in trying to figure out when (and if ) jehovah is going to take care of wicked people or resurrect dead people........ i kind of figure we will find out when it happens.. sometimes if feel stupid about bible things, but i take pride in trying to live by the basic bible principles and laws (about stealing, adultery, bad language, etc), although i do have a good deal of general knowledge about the bible, i could care less about breaking down the different "loves" in the hebrew language or greek language, or whatever..... i guess i have a similar knowledge of the scriptures as the "christians" before the wts "helped us figure it out" starting around 1900. .

Everyone has different interests and perspectives on life. You are not bad. Millions of witnesses worldwide think Bible study is underling the watchtower and reading societies literature. Most of what they are taught is wrong.

You don't have to study the Bible to be a good person but you need to know a little so as not to be taken in by the masters of deception at WTBTS.
