  Hello all, my name is jelly (or for those of you in Aust. Jam)
  Well I was babtized in the organization at 21yrs old (about), pionered for a couple of years and then one day in a paticularly hostile car group decided to just stop going to meetings. Took me about six years after that to become completly free. As of the time of this writing I am 32.

  Any students in here?

  hello everyone, i was just wondering if anybody else was in college and if so what classes they are taking.

  i am currently a senior and will graduate in 3 semesters with a degree in information systems.

  i am a little older than most of my classmates since i didnt go to college directly after highschool, this decsion was based on the fine spirtual food provided by wtbts.

  Sniper: The best revenge is just being happy despite them. Really that is the most damaging thing to the society, to see people leave and become better adjusted, happier, adults. I understand that your life may be in a shambles now, and trust me I know it may have been due to your PO, but really the only solution is to try to move beyond thier petty and childish games. I know my advice may sound simplistic and I don't know your situation but talking about it will help, so I hope you air out your situation and you may find someone here with a similar experience.

  Since I left the Borg I have Learned:
  
  (1) I am not always right (sounds stupid but I was a pioner and somewhat good at rhetoric(sp) so my ego was large becuase at 21 I though I had all the answers.

  (2) How to acutally debate with a person with the goal of finding the most logical answer and not just to 'win'.

  (3) To trust my own feelings about what is 'right'

  (4) To think.

  Frenchy, I am basically fine with the societies stand on blood parts it makes sense to me. If the society made blood transfusions a complete conscious decision I would be okay with that also. As always I will wait on jehovah.

  Hello Bod, this is in reply to was there ever a ban on higher education. I guess that means on what you consider as a ban, for me the only way to ban something was to make it a disfellowshipping offense, which higher education never was, how could it be its not a sin. The society did view it however as a waste of time and restrictions were put on people that went to college (in some congragations). So i guess its just what you consider a ban to be.

  Hello claudia, frenchy, bod. this is a reply to the 'why does the society sanction the use blood parts?' . There is a watchtower article that addresses this but I dont have it handy at the moment but the point was this. In ancient isreal the isrealites had to bleed animals before the ate them, but even after bleeding the animals they were not required to 'wring out the meat' so to speak, indeed how could you. the point is this that even though the animals were bleed some small amounts of blood still existed in the meat, and it was okay to eat. So the society reasons that a small amount of blood is ok. Another line of reasoning is that some (maybe even all) compenents of blood are transfered between a mother and her unborn baby, the society reasons that Jehovah would not break his own law so if it is legal for a baby and mother to swap certain types of blood components it must be legal for everybody. sorry for spelling.
