Should JW's and Gays Be Allowed To Adopt?
by Englishman inthis morning my nearest and dearest were discussing issues relating to adoption.
a close relative of the family has been turned down as an adoptive parent because he and his wife are too wealthy!.
the adoption people say that it is important that children have some negative input into their lives, apparently not having money worries can be bad for you.. we carried on talking and her ladyship asked me whether jw`s ever adopted children.

Not the southwest just the west.
My company made memory chips in 1995 we profited (net) 395 million dollors, 14 months after that we were losing 10 mil a month. As far as recent history we cut wafer starts down from 49,000 wafers a month to 17,500 and we are not sure if that is the bottom.

Yep. God created everything. Evolution was his technique.
Thats pretty much how I feel, I dont understand why people are always trying to turn the bible into a science book. Both the fundies and people that seem to be rabidly opposed to christianity continually try to do this.
Science ----->How we got here
Bible ------->Why

Hello Independent spirt and Larc
Independent spirt I got your point in your post. As far as what kind of people post here you will get a mix. For myself I believe evolution was the process the creator used for creation, so does that make me a creationist or an evolutionist? Hope to see more post from you in the future.
Larc I have seen JW's use Gods name to excuse themselves from the most basic acts of human kindness and curtesy, so I understand your hot button also.

What Was THE Straw That Broke Your "Camel'...
by Francois inthere are lots of outrageous things that have happened to each of us in our longer or shorter association with the jay-dubs.
but it's amazing sometimes what teeny things have been the final straw.. being raised as a jw, i swallowed most stuff whole my entire life.
then, as a teen began to question some things, but waited patiently for jehovah to straightened things out.

Thinkers wife,
It seems that in every Kingdom Hall there existed multiple standards of justice depending on who you were:
Elder ------> Can never be wrong
Pioner -----> Can only be wrong if female or capable of speaking well enough to make Elders look bad.
Publisher --> Rarely correct
Women ------> Never correctAnd as long as they had this little guide to address every problem
it absolved them from the responsibility of thinking about justice or right and wrong. I think the above standard really exist in elders minds wether conscious or not, and is alot of the reason that so many stories of injustice and abuse come out of the kingdom halls.Jelly
(By the way I got your email and am trying to find that article I have not forgotten)Its strange people from my old congragation shun me and it is meaningless to me, really they are people that I dont want to talk to anyway.

I work in the same industry as you mark and it is a bad time, and probably will continue to be bad for a couple of quarters yet. Overproduction, its that whole supply and demand thing. I am training to work in a different industry because if you worked in the wafer fab business for long you know that the whole industry runs on a 3 to 5 year cycle, you either losing money hand over fist or making money hand over fist, no middle ground.
So your company is always trying to madly hire people (without regard to quality) or slashing jobs like Hannible Lector.

Hello Esmeralda,
I have never been laid off but that might change in the next six weeks my company (NEC Electronics) just announced a 44% reduction in workforce. The only thing that I tell myself to make myself feel better is that the unemployment rate in america is still only around 4.5% so there are jobs out there. My only advice would be not to rush into a low paying job just to have a job, use your (his) unemployment benefits and take a little time and something new will come up.

Hello Intro,
I am not a psych major but I do find it interesting for a soft science. I can tell you one thing however if you want to practice as a psychologist you need to have AT LEAST a masters degree preferably a Doctorate, so be prepared for post-grad work. Also if you want to work helping individuals have you thought of a degree in social work?
