for anyone who is interested, there are candlelight peace vigils being held sunday night 3/16/03 around the world starting at 7:00 in all locations.
information can be found at www.moveon.org.
these are intended to be peaceful, silent vigils.. we live in a country that values freedom, and this freedom, has to extend to both sides of the war issue.
Looked at the pics, and Im telling you Saddam is worse than the us.

There is no peace in Iraq, Saddam kills his own people in large numbers. That’s the point many people seem to miss. To say you are for peace and not war is to create a false binary; peace is not an option. You are either for the status quo, with thousands of Iraqis being killed at Saddam’s hand, or you are for war,a war that I believe will end the situation. I believe the war will be better for the Iraqis in both the long and short run. I understand that some people don’t see it this way and this debate has reached the point of being almost a religion to some people and no real change is possible in the minds of the hard core ‘peace’ and 'war' camps. I think the question of where were all you people when Clinton was taking unilateral action with the US military is a valid one. Until I get a good answer for that I remain suspicious of the ‘peace’ camps motivation. Why where Clinton’s actions ok but Bush’s are not. Terry

***the mole*** a sacramento elder caught.
he steps down his position this last thursday.
it has come to our attention of a coverup that the brother in one of our kingdom halls this last week had stepped down for sleeping with another woman.
my understanding of the law is that if female is under 18 and the male is over 18 then it legally qualifies as a form of stat. rape. The age difference makes a difference with the serverity of the crime and what exactly the male will be tried for. for example 19 year old male 17 yearl old female is a misdemeanor; 30 year old male 15 year old female is a felony. California has a good and logical stat. rape law IMHO.

i saw two jws i know quite well the other day and i started to think.
they are both men in their mid 40s, both look like they are pushing 55. both are single, dirt poor and unskilled, although one is going to marry soon.
the first man, who works as a landscaper, was a good mechanic but never got the technical training necessary so is in essence unskilled labor.
I saw two JW’s I know quite well the other day and I started to think. They are both men in their mid 40’s, both look like they are pushing 55. Both are single, dirt poor and unskilled, although one is going to marry soon. The first man, who works as a landscaper, was a good mechanic but never got the technical training necessary so is in essence unskilled labor. The second individual was smart but never went to college, he and his life is a complete wreck. He works odd jobs in places like video stores and the such, last time I talked to him he was going back to school to study journalism and had a kind of miserable look to him. To me I see both these men as victims of the JW organization. The organization set itself up as an authority on matters of finance, medicine, and many other things. While it was positioning itself as an authority on all matters, it gave bad and sometimes contradictory advice; advice that led people to disrupt and sometimes destroy their lives, like my two acquaintances above. If a person ask a medical professional (RN or Doctor) on the street about some condition they are having usually the medical professional will tell the person to make an appointment. This is not because DR’s and nurses do not want to help people it is because medical professionals are considered authorities and if they give, bad advice can be sued so to protect themselves they are very careful before giving medical advice. The same holds true for financial analyst; if their advice is so bad as to be deemed negligent they can be sued for financial damages. The question is this; considering the WTBS set itself up as an authority can the WTBS be sued for the horrible ‘advice / commandments’ they have given over the decades on matters of education, finances, and health? I don’t know the answer but I would like to see what others think. Terry

France's history of military failure
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The military history of France:
Gallic Wars Lost. In a war whose ending foreshadows the next 2,000 years of French history, France is conquered by, of all things, an Italian.
Hundred Years War Mostly lost, saved at last by a female schizophrenic who inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare: "France's armies are victorious only when not led by a Frenchman."
Italian Wars Lost. France becomes the first and only country to ever lose two wars when fighting Italians. Wars of Religion France goes 0-5-4 against the Huguenots
Thirty Years War France is technically not a participant, but manages to get invaded anyway. Claims a tie on the basis that eventually the other participants started ignoring her.
War of Devolution Tied. Frenchmen take to wearing red flowerpots as chapeaux.
The Dutch War Tied.
War of the Augsburg League / King William's War / French and Indian War Lost, but claimed as a tie. Three ties in a row induces deluded Francophiles the world over to label the period as the height of French military power.
War of the Spanish Succession Lost. The war also gave the French their first taste of a Marlborough, which they have loved every since.
American Revolution In a move that will become quite familiar to future Americans, France claims a win even though the English colonists saw far more action. This is later known as "de Gaulle Syndrome," and leads to the Second Rule of French Warfare: "France only wins when America does most of the fighting."
French Revolution Won, primarily due the fact that the opponent was also French.
The Napoleonic Wars Lost. Temporary victories (remember the First Rule!) due to leadership of a Corsican, who ended up being no match for a British footwear designer.
The Franco-Prussian War Lost. Germany first plays the role of drunk frat boy to France's ugly girl home alone on a Saturday night.
World War I Tied and on the way to losing, France is saved by the United States. Thousands of French women find out what it's like to not only sleep with a winner, but one who doesn't call her "Fraulein." Sadly, widespread use of condoms by American forces forestalls any improvement in the French bloodline.
World War II Lost. Conquered French liberated by the United States and Britain just as they finish learning the Horst Wessel song.
War in Indochina Lost. French forces plead sickness, take to bed with the Dien Bien Flu.
Algerian Rebellion Lost. Loss marks the first defeat of a Western army by a Non-Turkic Muslim force since the Crusades, and produces the First Rule of Muslim Warfare: "We can always beat the French." This rule is identical to the First Rules of the Italians, Russians, Germans, English, Dutch, Spanish, Vietnamese and Esquimaux.
War on Terrorism France, keeping in mind its recent history, surrenders to Germans and Muslims just to be safe. Attempts to surrender to Vietnamese ambassador fail after he takes refuge in a McDonald's.
The question for any country silly enough to count on the French should not be "Can we count on the French?" but, rather, "How long until France collapses?"

i am thinking of getting a pistol and i am not sure of what kind to get.
i went to an indoor range today and tried out a glock .45 (the smaller model) and a heavier .45. i found the glock rested well in my hand but i could shoot much more accurately with the heavier (and longer barreled) pistol.
any way, i am looking for a home protection / target practice pistol and would like any input on what caliber to get.
David_10,
The diet is actually going extremely well, it has been over a week and I have not eaten at fast food once. I need to work on getting more exercise though.
GUN STUFF
I agree with what most of you say about shotguns being better for home protection. I do not know much about pistols but I was raised around hunting rifles and shotguns, although I do not have any now. One side argument however is that I would not use 10-shot (that is a dove load). One time when I was much younger a friend and me were hunting pheasants, he accidentally brought up the wrong shells (he grabbed 10 loads) and was forced to hunt with them. I saw him shoot a pheasant at 10 yards with a 10 load and the bird was able to fly about 100 feet away. If I have to shoot someone, I want him to go down immediately not 2 minutes later. The main reason I do not want to get a shotgun however is that I also like to target shoot, I used to do it all the time with rifles, and now I want to start again with pistols.
I am not worried about concealing the pistol so size does not matter, what I am looking for is a good target, home protection combination. The kick of the a heavy .45 does not bother me, I had a lot of trouble shooting the small .45 glock thought, I tended to shoot low (anticipating the kick I think). I will try the .40 in the coming weeks.
REVOLVERS
Its my understanding that revolvers have a harder kick than the automatics, is this true. And if so are there any other drawbacks to a revolver pistol?
