Print this off and have it ready before the next study. Tell her you find it impossible to follow a religious organization that is so confused about what a "generation" means.

I'm going to end my "bible" study
by KristiKay ini posted a while back, i've been studying with a nice jehovas witness lady for probably about 6 months.
after a few weeks i googled a few things (earthquakes, how long we've been on earth, ect.
) i realised she was very misinformed.

The Governing Body and the Battle of the Bulge
by metatron ini once read an excellent history of the battle of the bulge.
it pointed out that hitler took a huge gamble because he knew his forces would be ground down otherwise by advancing allies.
he saw what was coming and rolled the dice............. which may explain what the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is doing: demanding loyalty, attacking college, and trying to intensify shunning.. on the surface, growth looks ok but i believe these numbers are a self deceiving illusion.

The first step is trying to get everyone in line and increase cash flow without changing their printing business. That of course will fail over the next few years as they lose the battle to the internet. Posters coming on here and telling how they are stopping their study is evidence of this losing battle. In a few years, they will have to really look for ways to save money.
There are a few cost cutting measures that will really show the panic.
Cutting the Awake
Cutting the public WT (and just going with tract distribution)
These would lead to massive layoffs as much less need for labor (and more branch closures)
Trying to institute tithing would be the last resort

Did You Ever Fink On Another Witness?
by minimus indid you ever tell the elders that you knew of "wrongdoing" or that you knew a certain person wasn't adhering to the rules?.

No I didnt, but that didnt stop me from ratting on myself at the age of 19.
It really shows how much control this group has on its people, that they are so guilt ridden by the smallest cult offense that they feel the need to go tell on themselves. It also gave me a messed up view of ratting others out, I always felt it was OK, because its pounded into you so often.
When you get out in the real world you find out the ratting someone out is about the worst thing you can do!
They truly are a cult of confession

Matthew 24:14
by FrankWTower ini don't know if you've read anything like this before, but i'd like to share anyway.
as you know, we hear time and time again how we've preached pretty much in every country on earth (with a few exceptions for safety reasons).
well, maybe we have, but that doesn't mean we've reached even half of the people on earth.

Humans look at the outward appearance; God looks at the heart. He sees accurately and judges mercifully. God has committed judgment into Jesus’ hands, not ours
Ya right Watchtower. Look at your own DFing policy, what a bunch of hypocrites.

How to tell my mom im moving out?? Need advice please
by cia112 inwell i'm 22 years old, still in college, i live with my mom but she is driving me crazy with her jw nonsense, ive been dealing with it all my life and i really cant take anymore of this, i have a boyfriend, non jw (which my mom hates) and i could barely see him because she doesnt let me go out!
we have 4 years together and i really dont want to keep on like this, im not baptized but i am a publisher.... .
so the thing is, i want to move out with my boyfriend but i have no idea how to break the news to her, she drives me nuts but shes my mother and i love her, i dont want to hurt her but enough is enough...she's probably going to disown me, but i really just want to be happy already...so does anybody have any ideas what i can do?.

Sit her down and tell her you love her. Tell her you respect her religion (even if you dont) and her right to live her life the way she wants.
Then ask her to do the same for you. Tell her you understand that she may disown you (that heads off the threat before she can make it, and tells her you have already thought this through) but you must live your own life and figure out where it will lead.
Good luck. My guess is that she will be hurt badly for a while, but since you were never dunked she won't have to shun you forever per WT rules

Important letter to be read after jan 16 watchtower study
by mikes induring the announcements at our service meeting last night, they "encouraged" everyone to attend the jan 16 watchtower study as they would be reading a "very important letter" afterwards.
i havent seen anything pertaining to that on the site here.
does anyone have any more information about this, or is this maybe just a local thing?.

Yeah I love how the letter states that "the GB has arranged for" blah blah blah.....
Unfortunately when people think you are a handpicked tool being used by the Almighty himself, you can get away with damn near anything

Some observations from the KM Elder School I wanted to share with you.
by miseryloveselders inmy school was a couple weeks back, and it was interesting to a degree.
to be honest with you, it reminded me of a police crime scene investigation with yellow tape.
what i mean is, in one respect it was business as usual.

This grand puba has a tremendous stake in the rank in file. He makes his living by traveling to various congregations giving talks, and by doing whatever it is that he does at Bethel. If its true what they say that those recieving college educations are leaving this organization, it goes without saying that his and others like him are having their way of life threatened. They respond by threatening us. Another thing he stated was that if one chooses to pursue higher education, it shows they don't have loyalty to the faithful and discreet slave. The grand puba stated, "if you have loyalty to the faithful slave, then where's your son?" He also encouraged parents to financially support their adult children when they choose to pioneer.
I just re read your post again and had to react to this. It really shows how they have become a full blown cult and have cut Jesus Christ out of the picture altogether. Loyalty to the faithful slave? Where in the bible is that!?!?!?!?! Supporting adult children when they pioneer? Can it be long before they mandate pioneering for all 18 year olds, just to fully brainwash them? They must be losing more late teens than ever, whether it be to college or just to freedom from the cult.

It does seem like there are more active elders here lately!
Evidently, the path of the righteous one is like a light that keeps getting brighter.
