Is It Possible? Are They Retiring To Warwick?
by metatron ini'm not making a bold assertion here, just pursuing an idea.
what would have to happen to prove that the watchtower is probably "packing it up", conceding the field, retiring to their new headquarters in senescent peace?.
the dramatic changes we have observed are mostly motivated by money or legal concerns - but not all, as with cutting back on meetings.. you could reasonably have an old guard that still fanatically hopes for armageddon, any day now, while younger men keep their doubts private.

Everything they are doing points toward a business doing what it has to do to survive. Cut mags.. cut assembly days .. cut DO..sell property..institute mandatory donations.
Print is dead. That was their old model. Real estate will never die. That is the new model.

QFR August 15, 2014 - Resurrection and Marriage
by wisdomfrombelow inthe article addressed luke 20:34-36 and now they finally admit jesus could have been referring to the heavenly resurrection.
they said "put simply, the answer is that we cannot say" which is surprising because they have something to say about everything.
perhaps all the old people who are waiting the new world as widow and widowers want to know if they have a chance to be reunited with their dead loved one.

Oub summed it up...but this is just more bull$hit designed to "keep them in".
I actually remember several conversations around this topic when I was in. Married women would flat out insist that they would be able to be with their husband if he died. I recall having a bit of fun teasing them with "Thats not what the bible says!" Of course it was always ended with the we dont really know excuse...
Just like the recent "Miscarried babies might be resurrected" article, the whole goal of the WTS is to keep people trapped in the cult based on lies about the future.

OMG I'm so happy!!!!
by Julia Orwell inyup, the apostate is happy.
i shouldn't be, right, because my life is empty without "jehovah" and the organisation.. but i just got a job at one of the best theme parks in the world, which is so what i want to do, and it's the first permanent job i've had since i lost my government job in 2012!.
the job pays minimum wage but i don't care because working in tourism and entertainment is what i want to do!

When a JW's life comes close to its end...
by suavojr intalking with a long time elder last night, was very revealing.
he has been a jw for over 60 years, a man that was incarcerated in cuba in his early 20s and faced great loss and suffering over his beliefs and for being born in a communist country.
this brave man is now brittle and low-spirited.. while nightfalls on his life, he is made aware the end is near.

If they lived through and stayed after '75, I have no sympathy for them. They decided to keep following that flavor of false prophet, so they get their just reward.

Embarrassed by Aggressive Apostates
by ShempLives inxjw protests & videos.
.. i am disturbed by some of the more aggressive apostates posting videos on youtube, like "a jw memorial to remember" where a drunk man goes to a memorial and downs the whole glass of wine as a sort of protest.
this video and others like it received positive comments from aawa members.

There can be a lot of hurt deep down inside, I don't judge people that do this stuff, I just wish they understood that its not effective.
It only makes the WT look like they are telling the truth about "apostates". If everyone who left calmly and cooly moved on with life, a lot more active JWs would be extremely curious about why they moved away from the WT. This would in turn allow them to look at the evidence in a more rational way.

They are i- Pad Nutty Now
by Poztate inso many at my wife's hall have rushed to buy i-pads,androids etc for use in servicetm and at the hall.. most know little or nothing about how to use them but have joined the stampede to jw.org tm and the reinvention of the wtbts.. it prompted one elder at my wife's hall to have a seminar at his house to explain how to use them in service and at the hall.. how exciting.... one 80 year old pioneer woman will be there with her new toy.. as a distraction it seems to be working quite well.
no need to worry about 1914 or other issues.. they are all nuts and getting nuttier....

Haven't we all been in the situation where a co-worker pulls us away from whatever we are working on to watch some stupid video over their shoulder? Its about the most annoying thing in the world.
And yet these JWs are gonna whip out their Ipad at the door and try to force them to watch a two minute video that isn't entertaining in the least bit?
They may as well resurrect the phonograph and replay some of Rutherfraud's old stuff...

As poz says, take 1% truth and bullshit your way from there...
Originally, the brothers tried to get either the Safeco Field (where the major league baseball team plays) or Century Link (where the football team plays) but neither place would schedule out as far as we needed (since they started this process a couple years ago).
Maybe true, but both have teams playing through the summer so they don't want the Mariners or the soccer team to have to work around a cult convention. More likely, they are being cheap, as usual. Much cheaper to rent an old college stadium compared to a new pro stadium.
They were promptly told they do NOT rent their stadium out to anyone! EVER!
Calling bull on that one. Why wouldn't they? Its cash money, and its a public university, if you meet the requirements and have the $$$, you can rent it. Looked it up and apparently the stadium is under renovation.

Maybe the only weekend offered was the fourth, as workers may be off, anyway maybe someone who attends can report back on if it was still being worked on or if its done by the fourth of July.
However, there was only ONE weekend all summer long that we could have it - the 4th of July weekend! It turns out - that was the one weekend the branch WANTED us to have it!!!
Uh huh, sure. More likely it was dirt cheap that weekend because large venues have a hard time renting out facilites because people are doing other things. I always thought how ridiculous it was that elder schools would be held over Xmas or Thanksgiving weekends in hotels because the hotel ain't gonna rent it out to anyone else at all, as nobody wants the venue over a holiday. More proof? GO to jw.org and look at how many conventions are being held over 4th of July this year, because the 4th lands on a Friday. Poor sap JWs are having that weekend completely destroyed this year!
Next, the brothers had to find lodging at hotels that were used to getting $300/night and they were offering $140.! The hotels all said "NO WAY! We have gigantic cruise ships coming in here that are full of people who are willing to pay the $300.
This doesn't make any sense on any level. Maybe someone who lives in the Pacific Northwest can tell us the story if cruise ships drop off tons of people in Seattle, but all of the cruises I've been on include a room!
Also JWs generally rent out 2 to 3 1/2 star hotels, which never go for $300 bucks. $140 for those kind of rooms seems on the high side as it is, but over a busier holiday weekend that wouldn't be completely unreasonable.
Just more JW propoganda clogging up the e-mail boxes.
