Oh yeah...when everyone is so pleased with your performance, then you stop performing, a huge void results. Suddenly you go from a superstar to a nobody. Of course it doesn't take long to realize you were actually a nobody when you were a religious performer!

JW's a RELIGION based on PERFORMANCE! How dangerous is that???
by freewilly01 ini have come to realize that this religion is based almost solely on performance and that is the most dangerous.. i always felt that as a person or jw (while an active witness)that i was always just as good as my last assignment, comment at the watchtower meeting, feild service report.. this left me with a huge identity crisis in the borgorg......... i really didn't know who the hell i was?.
did any of you feel similair?

Satan blessed me I think......well not quite, but I want your input....
by miseryloveselders ini've wanted to do a bio thread for a little while now to give you my story, but for security reasons i can't at this time.
(crazy, maintaining a double life requires secrecy the cia would envy) i did however want to share this with you, and i need your thoughts and experiences if possible.. i just got a fairly decent job promotion, significant enough pay raise, and better hours.
i'm grateful too, happy even.

Are they really your thoughts? Or are they the thoughts of the WT, which has been indoctrinating you for umpteen years with the same ol same ol...the world is bad, we are good....the world is bad, we are good...the world is bad, we are good. Its like a subliminal voice that has been playing in your head for so many years, its hard to shake.
Yes there is luck....but we often make some of that luck by our hard work, taking initiative, etc...
How do you think people win the lottery? Was it their hard work? No, blind luck...
Have you read Hassan's books yet? He talks about the cult personality, and the real personality. Your real personality is trying to emerge, but the cult guy inside drags you back into WT-think.

2010 predictions!
by bohm inhere are my predictions for 2010:.
ted jarez will not pass away.
this will prevent any major reforms or restructuring and very much make this another "buisness as usual" year.new light on blood: there will be an article on blood; it will change the blood policy in a minor way as to loosen it up, but that will not be explicitly stated.

US publisher report for last year - "official" numbers from Society letter
by sir82 indidn't see this posted anywhere, my apologies if this is a repeat..... in a letter to all congregations dated 12/9/09, the society wrote out some highlights of the previous service year.
the letter is to be read to the congregation "at the first service meeting after its receipt".. here are the numbers they report (all numbers are for us only):.
-- average publishers - 1,096,502. this is about a 4% increase (3.5% if you don't round) over the prior year's average of 1,059,253.. -- that "4% increase" in average publishers is the largest since 1992.

230 million hours divided by 34,379 baptized = 6,690 hours per of FS required for a convert. Working full time takes about 2,000 hours each year. Thus, three and a half years of working eight hours a day = one new witness. And how many are born ins who are basically "forced" into baptism?
Speeding up the work inthe last days....

Its just past 8PM, freezing cold out, I mean probably 10 degrees at the most. Its snowing. A little bit windy but not a blizzard. Makes me think the JW have at least a little common sense!
I wanted to scold them and tell them go home and get out of the cold! But I didnt want to keep the door open...and didn't want them inside for an hour

I don't want to die.
by paul from cleveland ini've been conditioned since childhood that i'm going to live forever.
i'm having a hard time contemplating the fact that i'm going to die.
i'm so afraid of death that i can't enjoy the life i have now.

A great-uncle of mine recently got very sick. He was on life support, and the decision had to be made. When it was time for him to go, it was certainly difficult, but natural. It was the first time I was with someone when they died. When you consider that every human to ever walk the earth has died, the normalcy of it makes it easier to accept mentally. Who knows what comes afterwards, maybe nothing, but at least we get to live once.
Like you, I was conditioned with "millions now living will never die" (changed to "may" die with the latest WT revisionist history) mindset. Of course, I was supposed to be one of those millions. That kind of belief led to a shallow living experience in this world, running around like a chicken with my head cut off between meetings, field service, study, you know the drill. Now is the time to enjoy...

The Ransom for Nitwits
by Farkel inmark 10:45: "for even the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.".
1 timothy 2:5-6: "for there is one god, and one mediator between god and men, the man christ jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.".
the ransom that was taught for the first 1,000 years of christianity.

Is the GB Bloodguilty?
by LostGeneration inno not about the blood issue, though i would say yes to that.. what i'm talking about is in regard to the preaching work.
i recently commented on a thread that i thought field service was an inconvenient necessity when you are a witness.
many active ones probably feel the same way today, as it is their ticket to paradise earth.

No not about the blood issue, though I would say yes to that.
What I'm talking about is in regard to the preaching work. I recently commented on a thread that I thought field service was an inconvenient necessity when you are a witness. Many active ones probably feel the same way today, as it is their ticket to paradise earth. Of course, the GB made you feel guilty if you weren't participating, whipping you with the "bloodguilty" card for you not doing enough.
But is door to door effective at all? Would Jesus use a method like this today with the technology available? When is the last time a door to door salesman came to your home? Other than kids selling magazines or fundraising for their school, I cant remember a regular door to door salesman visiting in at least 15 years. Corporations (and religions to some extent) use technology to reach more people. So the GB could be considered bloodguily by God by not employing every means available to distribute their message, rather than using a completely ineffective and outdated method, door to door.
So why doesn't the GB use modern technology to preach their message? If these really are the last days, isn't it more important to reach as many people as possible so the Armageddon doesn't come an God has to kill billions? Shouldn't we see the WT spending some of their cash on internet advertising, infomercials, radio stations, full page newspaper ads and the like?
If the GB truly believed their teachings, you wouldn't be able to escape a WT advertisement offering a free bible study. But holding on to their cash is more important.

How can a JW say that?
by TD in--that's a question i keep coming back to.
it's probably a "human nature" question more than anything else, but perhaps someone who was a full-fledged jw (unlike myself) can explain it.
virtually the entire jw belief system, even their name, revolves around their public ministry and this ministry is based on certain ideas and premises:.

I guess as far as going in FS for converts I viewed it as an inconvenient necessity. Sure I wanted to live in a paradise, but I sure hated door knocking and selling religion. I often shook my head in disbelief as examples were trotted out at assemblies of people who "loved" going in service. Were they serious? Did they really like doing that? What is wrong with me, why do I hate doing it?
Of course as a someone who didnt enjoy it I never developed many RV's or Bible studies, so I cant really comment on why I thought others should convert. Probably in the back of my mind I thought people would have to be a bit crazy to convert, because that would mean going out in FS!
Seeing how much time witnesses spend in FS with zero results made me start to question the truth. If its the "TRUTH" they wouldn't it be wildly successful?
