"Advertise Advertise Advertise the King and His Kingdom"
Ugghhh....that phrase just makes me sick to my stomach, the way they refer to it as part of their great and grand history...if only they knew the true Judge Rutherford
why the tract & invitation campaigns?
it is the only way to get the regular pubs out into the field.
there is now a general letdown of activity to go out, followup and keep going.

This is one of the big things that made me realize that its not really "the last days" "the time of the end" or that "armageddon is imminent." If it were, the WT would adopt modern ways of reaching the masses with their message. But they don't really want to do that...
They toot their horn about their radio station back in the 20's, or their MEPS system. But now that more people can be reached by TV, internet, radio or other means, they are strangely silent.
If their message were really that important, not a single person in the civilized world would not know who they were if they truly wanted to bombard the airwaves and the internet with their message.
But they would rather sit on their cash...and send out free laborers into the field with a completely non-productive action plan.
Can you imagine a major corporation with an incredible new product sending out a door to door sales force? Of course not, that kind of marketing is a technique of the past, and ineffective in society today. But of course the WT has a 1.5 billion hour quota to meet now, and they aren't going to take that train off of the tracks even though its leading nowhere...
the other day i was talking to a jw in her 30's and mentioned jonestown and she had no idea what i was talking about.
she had never heard of it.
with all their harping about the dangers of 'false' religion, you would think that jonestown, heaven's gate, and the like would be right up their alley and would be brought up often as examples of why one should never leave the safety of the one true religion.
I guess you can reference "drinking the kool-aid" then without fear of being called out on it!
does anyone know of any info that tells the back story on this article.
why the parents were disfellowshipped, did the woman disagree with the reasons leading to her disassociating herself, etc.. .
3 'but,' someone may ask, 'is it not harsh to expel and then refuse to talk with the expelled person?
Don't have any info on the article, but it would be interesting to know if she DA'd before the big change surrounding Ray around 80/81. Prior to that a DA meant you just quit, no shunning enforced....but then they of course changed the rules to catch Ray with Gregerson (who was DA'd I believe) and DF him.
new light or not?.
the watchtower, october 15, 2010, p.17.
what about those who are of the other sheep?
Yep....not good enough to survive "Armageddon"
You have to "grow to perfection" then survive another test at the end of the 1000 years! Only then will you get the stamp of the Watchtower's approval.
not to be construed as doctrinal in any way but: since jw's counter the trinity doctrine by saying the word trinity cannot be found in the bible i thought it might be fun looking at other examples like:.
governing body.
any one else want to add to the list?.
ORGANIZATION!

That is great explanation of how the JW mind works. Thank you.
ecclesiastes.
12:1212 as regards anything besides these, my son, take a warning: to the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion [to them] is wearisome to the flesh.
and just how many books has the slave published since its beginning?
Good point...why so many books for a religion that claims 'to only follow the bible'
Even worse, how many Watchtowers have been printed, and each and every one is referred to by JWs as pretty much equal in weight with the bible
working in a bookstore i notice the thousands and thousands of books "explaining" what the bible really "means.".
those are what people read.. when people say they read the bible they are really saying they "try".
but, it is like reading chinese.. so, what they end up doing is reading opinions.. opinions, conjectures, hypothesis, fantasy, imaginative ruminations, fanciful concoctions......other people's ideas presented as documentary fact.. .
I believe most people just want to be TOLD WHAT TO DO.
No thinking=No work
No thinking=No problems
No thinking=No difficult decisions
No thinking=No changing the "status quo"
but in the end no thinking equals no integrity
Too much..................
Sorry can't think of anything. Unless you consider the following to be good things:
Cheap suits
4 door cars
Zombies
Ankle length skirts
Beardless faces
Repressed Children
Spiritual policemen
Thought stopping expressions
