  Any JW, please help- I need just one thing!

  --the name of a real live (not dead) member of the faithful and discreet slave class- someone who has admitted in public they are one of the f&ds and who can verify they have been providing the "meat in due season" for the governing body.

  obviously the gb can't be the f&ds, because they are neither discreet nor do they have a position of servitude- no, they have made it plain they are the bosses over jws and jws have to obey their words, as if jehovah and jesus were speaking them, or else they will get the disfellowshiped.

  just one verifiable name will do and how you obtained it.. the governing body claims that the f&ds are directing them and the worldwide work of jws, but they have never proven that they have a f&ds class they communicate with- just have one of the annointed call bethel and ask to speak to one of the gb and see what the switchboard operator does with their call.

  The leadership has done a masterful job with their "faithful slave" doctrine. You have a group of people totaling 144k, but at the same time you really only have bigshots at the top making the call.

  At the same time, the bigshots making the calls don't have any responsibility for their decisions as they are not named individually as JW leaders. They hide behind the "faithful slave" label, all the while pointing at Jesus as the one directing them. So what does that mean, that Jesus is an idiot with bad instructions for the slave? Of course not.

  Its one big circle jerk with no responsibility. That is unless you put on your thinking cap as a JW, then you are disobedient, headstrong, or an apostate if you take it too far with your "independent thinking"

  If 50 billion have lived on earth total, say 45 billion get resurrected.

  Some will fail the "final test" at the end of the 1000 years. Say Jehovahs kills off one - third then, leaving 30 billion who don't get to have sex.

  Assume 5 million JWs make it through the big A and can have sex.

  With the numbers above, one out of 6,000 get to keep having sex forever, while the rest go without.

  Yeah, WT theology makes a lot of sense!

  my wife was recently in a car accident.

  she's okay, but was incapacitated for a few days because of the injuries.

  she missed a couple of meetings.

  I understand what you are saying.

  In my situation, the GB could say we have new light, and we will now be worshipping the devil. But because of "friends" and "love" then some of my closest relatives would still be JWs.

  so i sit back and look at this whole faith/religion etc as a whole.. isnt it ironic that =satans first lie .. you surely will not die!!

  is still being carried on to this day from door to door....hmmmm soemthing worth thinking about!.

  How High School Helped Me Realize I Didn't Know How to Have My Own Opinion

  i used to get pretty good marks in high school, until it came to situations that required me to give my own opinion.. my social studies teacher used to get quite frustrated with me when it came to anything political.

  we were asked to write paragraphs on how we feel about different issues.

  i always did something like: "this side feels this way, that side feels that way, here are the pro's and con's to each side, then maybe some obscure comment that didn't really state what my stand was".

  *Shudder* You just reminded me of a paper I wrote in high school on evolution using the WT creation book. My teacher countered literally dozens of points in that paper, I had never seen so much red ink on one of my papers.

  I think he gave me a "C", I was pretty lucky to escape with that grade.

  at this week's bookstudy/school/service meeting, there is plenty of emphasis on "baptism"...and considering the book of acts, one must wonder about the eunuch and cornelius.. ethiopian eunuch - a minister of finance (political figure = treasurer)...didn't really understand what he was reading (not in the "accurate knowledge" way at least)...yet by phillip he was baptized soon after they met.

  it was his faith in jesus that played the part.

  cornelius - was in the roman army (military)...was a very giving man, kind, strong faith in jesus and believed in him...he and his family were baptized.

  Another reason JWs don't advise reading the bible ALONE. There must always be some sort of explanation beyond what is written to justify the existence of the burdensome organization.

  From the examples you referenced, plus the baptism of thousands a few days after pentecost, it would be easy to reason that faith in Jesus is really all that is needed for someone who wants to become a Christian.

  Yet JWs require a bible study that moves at a snails pace for at least a year. Then the questions you mentioned. Even the KM last month talks about making sure everyone studies a SECOND BOOK (the disgusting Gods Love Book), oh and of course the conductor can count the time even if the person has already gotten dunked.

  when i was growing up i was told that the "holy spirit" assisted in the selection of elders.

  I'll tell you-

  First off, you have to be a MS of course.

  Next, the PO, now COBE and the secretary get together a summary of the field service hours. A person's monthly excel spreadsheet for Jehovah is the number one factor in making someone an elder. In the past, you had to average 10 or more hours, not sure if this has changed much in the last two years since they stopped printing the national average.

  If you make the first cut, then you are up for discussion. Points in your favor include if you are a good speaker, a good dresser (seriously, I was in a meeting where one elder didn't like a prospects fashion sense) a brown-noser, don't drop your parts on short notice, and as you mentioned have someone in your corner like a relative or even a close friend in the hall.

  Points against you can include not being "visible" (This one ticked me off, as your hours could be great but if they didn't see you then they are questioning your FS methods), dropping parts on short notice, having a wife that doesn't meet the approval of other elders, having kids that aren't quite "perfect enough" or being a poor speaker.

  Being a pedophile was OK in the past, but now they take a little closer look at that...

  Lack of true friends as a Witness

  it was kind of a sad realization i had the other day that as a witness you are conditioned to not have friends.

  i realize that most of this fact is related to my own stupidity and arrogance.

  when i was in my teenage years i had a great group of friends that i ran around with.

  I know personally my best friends were worldly ones in high school. While everyone else way so excited to be graduating I felt sad when it was time to say goodbye. I knew deep down they were going to drift away and I would be left with those in the congo, none of which really appealed to me.

  I think the reason why was I coulndn't be my "real self" in the congo, while I could in high school for the most part. The cult just represses people, you subconsciously repress anything and everything that is off-color or out of wack with the Witness world view.

  Add to that the encouragement from the WT to be a RAT on everyone else and you end up with a bunch of people who tolerate each other, but can't depend on each other for jack sh!t.

  Women seem to form closer friendships in the org, but that is just my observation and may be a generalization.

  elders are instructed to send this written communication in what watchtower terms special blue envelopes.

  Yeah the real power is in the local hall when an elder utters one sentence from the platform.

  Now if an apostate elder wanted to go out with a bang, he could arrange to do the announcements. After going throught them he could DF three or four other elders and walk out the door.

  Now that would sure be a mess for the congo to clean up!
