  The official "how did they react to the new light" thread

  for those that went to meeting what was the general response to this "new understanding" of "this generation"?

  at my hall i don't think anyone really got it or cared.

  The only mention of overlap was when it was read from the paragraph by the other dude. I looked around while the guy was reading and a guy in the audience was smiling. When the guy reading finished, the guy leading read the question at the bottom and the guy in the audience who had been smiling read back the sentence in the paragraph, which didn't deal with overlapping, and then the guy leading it moved on to paragraph 15.

  okay, something that has always been a side point but still a rather ridiculous rule is that brothers cannot "serve" if they have a beard/goatee/anything more than just a moustache.

  at least in the states, i've heard of some congregations in some countries allow this, but they are the exception?

  your experience?.

  during the morning session my mind was screaming....cult cult cult cult!!!!.

  i couldnt take it...had to walk out till lunch time, the rest of the day i asked myself....what that hell am i doing here!

  Shocking WT Statement on RAPE! Disgusting!

  for those who haven't read the book awakening of a jehovah's witness by diane wilson, i highly recommend it.

  she covers so much - not only her touching personal experiences, but a host of "hard proof" as she quotes from wt publications.. .

  here's one statement that diane exposed on the subject of rape.

  If the rapist was unrepentant, he was to be put to death as were all evildoers in ancient Israel. You can look up repentance in the Insight on the Scriptures. Repentance paved the way for civilized order in ancient Israel. This is difficult to fathom if you're an atheist, but ancient Israel was a completely different world than contemporary society or modern day Christianity. If there is a repentant rapist in the congregation, this article you quoted from outlines some viewpoints so he can function in the congregation without being ostracized. It's likely that a rape victim, regardless of what's published in this Awake! article could not attend the same congregation as a rapist. A rapist released from prison may participate in different aspects of society, but it's up to any given person to decide how they should relate to them.

  The Writing Department's use of "Exclamation Points". Anybody else find their use cheesy? Or motivating possibly?

  something i've been meaning to ask for a while since coming here, is wsup with the writing department's use of exclamation points?

  i'm no literature buff or anything, but to me personally, the exclamation points cheapen whatever they're trying to get across.

  here's some examples from the new jeremiah book.. how thankful we can be for the teaching done by christian shepherds!.
