Do you know all of the Watchtower's failed predictions? I doubt it.
by TMS inas a longtime jw, i knew about 1925, 1975, the failed original expectation of 1914, etc.
in the first bible studies i conducted, we taught that the great tribulation began in 1914 but was "cut short" in 1918 on account of the chosen ones, that some flesh would be saved.
the great tribulation was said to have been in abeyance.

Bible God & Human Sacrifice
by ThomasCovenant inbig j sent his son little j to earth as a 'human' sacrifice.
the fact that little j was allegegdly about 30 years of age when the deed was done shouldn't take away from the my concept of christianity being based on child sacrifice.. imagine the hullabaloo if jesus had been 7 years of age when he was nailed up.. there is a precedent of course for the whole 'i need a sacrificial child' thing .

What sacrifice? If I intentionaly speed and get caught, I get a ticket. I have to shell out $50 or so for that. I am out $50. For it to be a scarifice, god would have to lose something. He should be down one son. He didn't lose a thing.

This demonstrates the importance of studying watchtower history first before studying with the witnesses. When one studies the watchtower history first, one will not accept a study with the witnesses. Those who study with the witnesses without studying it's history will become captives to this cult.
I am "studying", so to speak. I won't sit and read through a JW book and parrot back answers though. How do I bring these points up to the JW without inciting WWIII

So what's in it for the WTS?
by leec ini'm still just trying to understand ..... what is the real essence of why the leaders at the very core of this religion do what they do?
i assume they are all in the 144k, so i get that.
but i mean ... that can't be the entire motivation for all this misery.

WT study article Jan 17 2010
by Mickey mouse in"treasure your place in the congregation.".
dozy did this exercise previously but i thought paragraph 5 was worth looking at agan.. let's change the perspective to the first person:.
"the spirit that now operates in the sons of disobedience" is so widespread that it is like the air we breathe.

A ploy to sell magazines. "We would publish the recipe but experience teaches us that more will likely be benfitted by it if obliged to write for it."
