DD - They are definitely ratcheting up the fear factor but I don't for one second think they believe any of this doomsday nonsense. It is a way to manipulate people the same way the resurrection video was, their aim is to keep people from leaving in whatever way possible. Intellectual reasons for staying have all but dried up so now it's time to play on the emotions. They have nothing to gain by being a death cult.

Don't Want To Be At The RC This Year...

the whole time i'll just be thinking about what effect all those crazy loyalty videos will have on my family.

i can venture to guess that they'll be wound up and determined to "stay loyal" because this "is the truth" and "this system can't last much longer".

i have to go because not doing so would raise too much suspicion but i'm really dreading it.

Any outsider who comes will be running for the hills convinced that JWs really are a cult.

I don't think it's funny at all, I know what the GB want people to take from this video. Mainly that we need to do more now, if we can't sacrifice material things now how will we survive the GT? Although many worldly people would laugh and mock it as a doomsday scenario by a wacky little cult JWs won't see this like that. Many will reason that even though we aren't facing persecution in the US now that the FDS must have some hidden knowledge about the nearness of the GT. This will motivate these types of JWs to double down on the cult personality and not relent to any doubts. In their eyes the FDS is inherently good so they won't see it for the manipulation that it is.

i have already posted how i outed to an elder.... the only results were that another elder mentioned to me: "i heard you have doubts about the truth will you meet with us and clear it up... i also had doubts... i fixed them i can help.

" laughing inwardly i said sure.. oh i'm going to slaughter this moron.

when he asks my doubts i will show him the chromosome #2 video with ken miller.

My thinking is that humans are arguably the first species to have the intelligence to be painfully aware of the aging process and their own mortality. Knowing that we posses the highest intelligence and a consciousness that feels like it should endure forever, it becomes very hard to accept that we are trapped in a deteriorating prison that will inevitably lead to our demise. Knowing that we are powerless to stop this process we created a higher being that could solve the problem for us. As societies formed it also became a tool to control social behaviors and acquire power.

It's like a cliff notes version of the old Proclaimers book with the idea that the org is "fulfilling prophecy" taken from the Revelation book. Many details are glossed over just in the introductory letter and the first chapter. Haven't read past that.

Long Hair Girl - Maybe it's just because I'm mentally out but lately I just see everyone going through the motions. There is no excitement or encouragement at the meetings people are just going through it for the social aspect. Everything in the new meeting format is scripted, the videos are manipulative, the new demos are dry and boring. I see people who know something is off but just don't want to admit it.
