Why is Mother's Day wrong?

so why is celebrating mother's day wrong according to witnesses?.

is it not an opportunity to show respect to the giver of life (mother) and therefore god, the originator of families?.

does it not give an opportunity for members of the family to give a hard working mother a day off?

Maybe you're right I guess people in the early 1900s were easy targets for religious scammers. If you read some of the stuff Rutherford wrote back then you'll realize just how ignorant people were and how much unquestioning respect they had for anything related to the Bible.

Where did Jehovah go ?

for the many years i was mentally " in " the congregation, i equated the organisation as interchangeable with the persona of jehovah, in effect whatever the organisation said or thought, that was what jehovah thought and that was what jehovah said.... it was that simple.

so when i found out the ttatt and the cynical moves of the organisation over the years,including 1975 , the donation arrangements, the united nations, etc i was devastated and thought " where's jehovah in all of this?".

the god who i'd poured my heart out to on many occasions and who i thought was silently listening and hearing my pleas ..... was not there , .

Perhaps you're right but I always thought that "fulfilled prophecy" was how they grew the religion after Russel died. That and prophesying that 1925 would bring a government ruled by ancient worthies who would be wowed by modern technology. LOL

They were still God's channel but they were imperfect that day. Still if you were alive back then you had to believe it 100% even if you could show that it was false from the bible. Today you have to believe everything coming from the GB even if it's as trivial as tight pants and where you take the family for vacation.

Don't Want To Be At The RC This Year...

the whole time i'll just be thinking about what effect all those crazy loyalty videos will have on my family.

i can venture to guess that they'll be wound up and determined to "stay loyal" because this "is the truth" and "this system can't last much longer".

i have to go because not doing so would raise too much suspicion but i'm really dreading it.

Can you volunteer in parking?

I already have an assignment that should keep me away for awhile although I'll still be able to hear the program and see the videos. I'm an attendant, so next you're at a convention remember that the attendants could very well be awake. As somebody (not a JW) told me last year at least as attendant you get a "nice view".

Shooting in the foot (homophobic video)

with the newly released homophobic video by the wts, it gets clearer that those people can't stop shooting themselves in the foot.

they are already under examination and de facto trial by the australian committee; more and more people and officials in western democracies inquire into their abusive tactics and put them under the microscope, and what do they do?

they release a video which confirms those worries.

that they just can't stop posting such material, even when it's damaging to their supposed goal of winning converts, and even though they know it!

The days of winning converts are over, now it's all about controlling the flock and reinforcing the persecution complex. I'd say the video did both of those very well. JWs will view any backlash as being persecuted for righteousness sake. Most JWs agree with the position taken in the video that gays can be accepted but they must stop their homosexual lifestyle (meaning being celibate forever). They consider that the position of a loving God.
