Black holes, what kind of god makes black holes??
Maybe eventually the black holes eat up all the energy and matter in the universe and condense it allowing another big bang to occur and a new universe to be born.
i'm an atheist as i do not see any evidence for the existance of a god.
i encourage critical thinking in everyone and am ready to debate anyone on whether or not there is a god and what that god might be like.
hmu..

ExJW here also. I am not an atheist because I can not prove a universal Neg. It would take faith to say you are an atheist. I am an Agnostic. I can not prove there is or is not a god but since I have seen no evidence of one, I tend to lean that there is not.
An impersonal God that exist solely as a power outside of our physical universe would be pretty hard to disprove. However, a personal God with a personality like that described in the bible is easy to disprove as there our many contradictions to his personality found in nature. To get around this JWs fall back on "Satan did it" and "Imperfection though."
my mother was not the most emotionally stable person.
she was a follower and instilled in me the idea we were better than those worldly people.
its hard to go to school as a child and you can not be friends outside of school, you can not celebrate any holidays, and you are told all these people are going to die.
I could be a smoker. Into drugs. Who knows? It's the story of anything. The butterfly effect. If you change the littlest thing, your life could have a totally different arc and maybe not good.
I think parents can raise good, moral, and sober kids without religious brainwashing. Would it have happened with my family? It's really hard to say one way or another. I think it's best not to worry too much about the past. It's important to realize that even if being raised the way we were did keep us out of trouble, it doesn't mean we owe anything to the org or our family. We still have the right to believe whatever we want and to live accordingly.
i'd like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome our newest jw apologist jtrottigy.
.
he'll likely only be here for a few days like most jw defenders before he runs away when presented with his own doctrine.. so far he's already said some hilarious stuff, like "there's no such thing as nepotism in jehovah's organisation", "confidentiality is paramount to elders" and, my personal favourite "the overlapping generation is so simple to understand".. yh don't think i don't remember you from jwtalk..
If they were smart they would only put attractive young people on cart duty.

I am not resentful because looking back at the circumstances it makes perfect since that she would fall for JW doctrine. I'm sure she felt it was the best way to raise us, that we were protected from bad influences, drugs, alcohol, promiscuity. The sad part is in all the years that have past she has never questioned whether it is really the truth.

these look like nice, middle class boys going to uni, involved in sports, government, etc.
they are pretty much standard college kids.
This is easy to explain, these young men aren't getting sex with the women they want so in their frustration they are lashing out with these "jokes," I doubt they mean any of it just trying to boost their own ego by putting others down.
well guys, after a spiritually encouraging convention, i’ve decided to return my heart back to jehovah.
i realize i was just being too negative and i need to adjust my attitude.
just kidding suckers.
Focussing on 'Jesus' poses a threat on the Organization, it takes away the rank and file focus on them(Borganization)
It's no wonder they try to avoid talking about him, they do the opposite of many of his teachings. Maybe they'll do a convention on Paul they seem to really like him and all his commands and rules.

Congrats, JTrottigy, you should do a lot of research here because apostates are known to target the carts and try to rattle JWs.
with much amusement i read the thread on women parking lot attendants and it got me to thinking about life at home for the average jw.. i believe i am correct in thinking that anything to do with jw-ism requires a penis, except all the leg work (fs & pioneers).
meaning the mic's, talks, etc... but yet the same guy who thinks his wife (or any other woman) is not bright enough to run the sound system for example doesn't mind his wife hauling hay, digging in the yard, managing the checkbook and other various physical jobs as well as jobs that do in fact require a brain larger than that of a gnat?.
let's say a guy is a bit technologically challenged but he can manage the sound system at the kh ok. i imagine he feels proud that he is getting to do this great privilege?
You hear a lot about submission but let's be honest, it rarely works that way in real life. Men may have all the privileges in the org but at home many times it's the opposite. Most of the time decisions will be made by the person who cares the most and often times that is the wife.

I see many commenting here about the convention not mentioning about Jesus. Even if they had, so what? Is Jesus truly a historical figure, truly the son of God, truly performed miracles, all his prophecies came true?
The way Jesus said to leave our family and follow him, makes him a cult leader too.
I think the point is that many of the things that Jesus taught go directly against the concept of high control religion and JWs try to avoid those ideas.
