It seems to me that AI will be very useful for specific tasks as mentioned above but I don't really see how that would lead to any true self awareness or consciousness. I think for that to happen humans would really have to want it to for some reason.

Will we eventually evolve into “Creators” GODS?
by I believe in overlapping inhumanity is slowly leaving behind ancient stories of a god who created adam and eve and punished their children for eating the forbidden produce.
some people with vision like yuval noah harai, sam harris, elon musk, and others, caution the intellectuals of the world to tread cautiously in regard to artificial intelligence, (ai) development.
most experts don’t share their viewpoint mostly because they think they know more than they do, and they think they are smarter than they are.

AI is fine as long as a human is holding the power cord. To me what would really be scary would be some sort collective networked intelligence that merges with the human mind.

UPDATE: Wife Pretty Much Knows That I Don't Believe
by JW_Rogue inwe had a nice long talk and i brought up some things that make me think that this isn't the "truth" and she somewhat agreed with me.
i stuck with things i personally experienced or had knowledge of plus all the changes in recent years.
she agreed on a lot of the points but still believes in god and the bible.

To be perfectly honest I remember guys/husbands going to meetings mostly for their wives, these guys never went out in service and never gave any talks , friendly to talk to etc.
That would be nice, maybe just Sunday meetings and dump everything else.

Changing Halls isn't going to change the fact that the WTS/Jworg. was and still is a sinningcommercialized false prophet acting in apostasy against Jesus's instructions for preaching his New Kingdom Gospel and all those who participate and support this organization are sharing of the sins of this organization
Now you see my wife isn't quite on this level yet and honestly if some of the teachings bring her happiness then why should I try to stop her? My goal is just for her to accept my viewpoint without informing the Elders or letting everybody in the hall know what is going on. Her whole family is in the org as is mine. I want to be able to distance myself quietly without raising any red flags which will be hard to do.

Do Celebrities Influence You In Making Your Decisions?
by minimus inwhether it be sports athletes or hollywood heavyweights or talk show hosts—do these people influence your thinking?.
-
JW_Rogue
I don't think they actually have that much influence, not the way that WT always describes people as idolizing celebrities. More powerful than any one celebrity is the collective thought of groups of people and I think most people are affected greatly by the media and propaganda.

Moving to a different hall might be a good thing...not knowing the people and having to form new bonds can be very eye opening....
True, it's just I think we both have different motivations for moving to a new hall. She wants a fresh start to try to be more spiritual and I want to get away from people who know me and continue to distance myself from JW life.

She just believes some people in the org have the wrong attitude or bad motives. Not sure where to go from here, she wants to move to a new hall. However, I'm sure part of her motivation is to get a fresh start where we can try to be more "spiritual" together. She thinks that if you have doubts you can fix it by doing more. I tried to tell her that she can't change how she feels and it's not wrong but I think she feels guilty about it.

Question- do JWs use the term overlapping generations
by Xanthippe in... or is that one of our memes?
thanks..
-
JW_Rogue
No, they don't really use that term it makes it sound ridiculous (which it is) most don't talk about it at all. Or they just refer to that stupid video from Splane as if it it all makes sense after you watch it. A generation is generally defined as a group of people born around the same time. My generation and my parents generation can't be the same, so how could someone born in 1950 be in the same generation as someone old enough to be their parents?

Jehovah, Jehovah, Jehovah
by Sour Grapes inmy pimi wife listens to a lot of the meetings on the phone with the speaker on.
when i am watching tv i hear the meetings in the background.
i just cringe with how a witless can't give a comment without having said jehovah at least two times.

It is one of their power words to reinforce their ideas, most of the time they use Jehovah they are actually talking about the org/elders.
