WT predicted the future! They got it right!
by thedepressedsoul inin this sunday's watchtower they proceeded to put this in the article, "distractions, said the watchtowerof september 15, 1958, will likely increase as this world nears its doom.
how true!
"are they really patting themselves on the back for this statement?

Everyone has a negative side, WT dredges up those thoughts and feelings and tries to validate them. Then it offers itself as the only solution. Very clever and manipulative. -

Does Jehovah Intervene - JW Teaching
by thedepressedsoul ini have been a jw my whole life and i have never been able to get a clear answer on this question.
jw's do not believe that jehovah will intervene if someone is sick, dying or stopping a car crash.
they feel that jehovah is letting "this world" play out before he solves all of these problems.
-
JW_Rogue
If Jehovah didn't intervene to help you, it's because he's allowing things in this system to play out. If something good does happen to you, though, it's because of Jehovah.
In short, anything good that happens to you is because of your involvement in the cult, and if anything bad happens it's either Satan's system testing you or because you're not having enough involvement in the cult. This is exactly it! If you got that new job that allowed you to pioneer then that is Jehovah's blessing, even if you personally worked very hard to find it. If you couldn't find it, Satan is testing you and you need to "wait on Jehovah", it's delusional thinking.

Yeah, what a stupid statement, this prediction is so vague and unverifiable. How do they know distractions have actually risen? It's like when they say "world conditions continue to deteriorate," they have no way to actually prove it but many JWs are negative so they feel like it's true. -

Organization, not a concept established by God
by StarTrekAngel ini was dwelling over a discussion going on at jw-archive.
the old topic of the legitimacy of the gb and the concept of centralized organization.
despite what the wt claims, there are a number of examples in the new testament of actions and decisions taken without direction or even the awareness of the elders in jerusalem.. despite whatever other evidence jw may have about the organizational tendencies of god (namely the creation, universe, whatever else they usually bring up), the concept of an organized nation never originated from god.

When asked about where to worship Jesus said it didn't matter only that you worship "in spirit and truth". To me that doesn't sound like he was saying any sort of organization was needed. He also said that "where ever two or more are gathered in my name the spirit will be there as well". The Bible doesn't show any evidence that an organization was needed for salvation -

JWs Don't Really Believe This Scripture...
by JW_Rogue inso the bible says this about god at rom 1:20 for his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the worlds creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and godship, so that they are inexcusable.. however, jws don't really believe this scripture to be true.
whenever something comes out about nature that they don't like they will instead say that it is due to imperfection.
animals are predatory and will kill to survive, well, that must be imperfection.

So the bible says this about God at Rom 1:20 For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable.
However, JWs don't really believe this scripture to be true. Whenever something comes out about nature that they don't like they will instead say that it is due to imperfection. Animals are predatory and will kill to survive, well, that must be imperfection. Tiny bacteria and viruses can easily kill thousands of people, well, that must be imperfection. Natural disasters like floods, earthquakes and hurricanes occur regularly, well, that must be imperfection. Homosexuality is a product of genetics, well, that must be imperfection. If we really believe this scripture than we must take it for what it says and not try to make excuses for God. We must look at how things really are and decide what kind of qualities it really shows about God (or if he even exists).

Following Christ "from a distance."
by New day inluke 22:54.
"then they arrested him and led him off, and they brought him into the house of the high priest; but peter was following at a distance.
" i am still raging because this verse was used at a recent circuit overseer's visit.

I hated that comment at the convention. Perhaps there is a reason that many brothers aren't reaching out. I think the reason is that people see exactly what being an Elder really means. More mundane responsibilities, Elder meetings, conflict with other Elders, taking the lead in Field Service, Judicial Committees. And what do you get for all this? Maybe some praise from some in the hall, you get to be part of the Elder club and some Public Talks. Not really worth it since it is all empty and meaningless. Absolutely everything Elders do is an unnecessary chore. Working day in and day out for an org which accomplishes nothing. -

A question .....
by Landy inhi guys - new poster here.
i was brought up a jw in the uk and stopped going not long after i was married.
that was 20 years ago so i'm not really up to date with the current doctrinal flip flops or the new youtube obsessed gb.. came across this site while googling the name of a local elder who's just been convicted of possesion of a pc full of unpleasant pics of kids.. so, my question.

Oh, yeah super easy to fade away. LOL Not when your entire family is in the org and they all live in the same city. Not when your wife has doubts but tries to beat them back by being more "spiritual." Not when you're a MS and the brothers don't want you to step down because that would mean more mundane work for them. -

Disgusted By Today's WT Study 12/6/15
by JW_Rogue inno, not because of the message of deluding yourself into seeing the hand of god working in mundane wt activities.
that is to be expected from this org.
what really bothered me was the quote in paragraph one.

Another thought that occurred to me during the WT---the article cited, as evidence of God's hand in action, all kinds of legal battles to protect the preaching have been won. But if God is interceding, why send lawyers to fight the cases, why not just send any faithful JW to court armed with prayer, faith, and conviction. Why is there an in house WT legal team? Their method for dealing with legal matters does not particularly indicate any overwhelming faith in Godly intervention.
Their methods belie their motives
Or better yet, how do we then explain the recent loses regarding child abuse? Would that show that maybe God isn't blessing them? Or could it mean it's time to apologize and change policies? Oh, wait, a good JW is not even supposed to know what is going on with those. Never seemed to make it to the JW.org news section.

As individuals, we know that our immediate physical protection is not guaranteed.
Oh, yes we could never expect such a thing from God as individuals but of course his precious org will be protected...barf. So basically anytime anything good happens for us we are to praise God and his loving blessings, even if our own time and hard work were involved. However, if something bad happens then, well, we cannot expect God to protect us. Pure BS.

November Study WT "Train You Child to Love Going Door 2 Door"
by JW_Rogue inbeen catching up on some jw reading and found a gem in the november study wt in the first article, paragraph #11:.
yet, you might look beyond the obvious and ask yourself, does my child enjoy the ministry or only the breaks?
if you discern that the ministry could be more interesting or more rewarding for your children, set goals with them.

And I guess everyone gets to work in middle class territories with friendly elderly people to talk to...
