This Website Was Mentioned By The Governing Body
by JW_Rogue inokay, so at the "imitate their faith" ca there was a special speaker from the gb.
and he started discussing psalms 1:1 and how we today could "sit in the seat of scoffers".
he then mentioned that many bros. and sisters criticize the org and think they are so smart by researching online.

I just laughed a little cause I knew what website he was talking about. -

One thing time has told us, each generation progressively gets worse. And this generation is one of the the most, if not the most, perverted in history. So if then by some remote chance the "book of bible stories" you mock is accurate, there will be a heavy price to pay.
I'm sorry but this can't be proven in any way shape or form. The WT runs with this idea because it feeds off people's negativity and yearning for the past. It ignores any positive advances or trends in the world because it doesn't fit in with it's narrative.

Your Answers vs. WT Propaganda
by JW_Rogue inin the recent awake, the following survey was published:.
true false.
jehovah’s witnesses accept the entire bible.. .

This is false. Like most Xians, JWs pick and choose what they want to accept. Most dubs have never read the entire Bible, and they sure as hell have never picked up a Concordance. Just review the TMS Bible reading selections. It's the same menu for decades, just switched up a bit.
Well, to be fair most of it is useless. It must be hard to try to pick out a portion of some of those old testament books to read each week.

#4 is laughably false. JWs accept the 200 or so "core texts" that, in isolation, appear to support their convoluted doctrine. They routinely ignore well over 99% of the Bible, especially scriptures which are more difficult than usual to twist to appear to support it.
Very true, I wonder if you looked at year of WT studies how many scriptures would be used and which would be the most quoted? Maybe the one about the FDS LOL

In the recent Awake, the following survey was published:
TRUE FALSE
Jehovah’s Witnesses are Christians.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are creationists.
Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe in doctors.
Jehovah’s Witnesses accept the entire Bible.
Jehovah’s Witnesses use only their own Bible translation.
Jehovah’s Witnesses changed their Bible to fit their beliefs.
Jehovah’s Witnesses shun community involvement.
Jehovah’s Witnesses look down on people of other religions.
Thought it would be fun to get some survey results here after reading the WT answers. Here are some gems from the responses:
We try to follow closely the teachings and behavior of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:21) However, in a number of ways, we differ from other religious groups that are called Christian. Nor do we believe that those who take the lead in religious activities should have titles that elevate them above others.
The first sentence is an understatement if ever there was one. "We're Christians we just don't believe he is as important as other churches do. We spend most of our time talking about Jehovah, we pull the Jesus card out around memorial time." LOL The second statement is just a flat out lie, there are plenty of titles to go around in JW land and they are arranged in a hierarchy.

We believe that God created everything. But we do not agree with many who believe in creationism.
Hmmm...so JWs believe God created everything, yet they are saying they are not creationist? Creationist may have varying views but JWs still fit the criteria. Not to mention the fact that it is only recently that JWs have even admitted that the Earth is millions of years old.

We use many translations in our study of the Bible. In languages in which it is available, though, we especially appreciate the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures for its use of God’s name, for its accuracy, and for its clarity.
Many translations in our study? When was the last time there was a read scripture during the WT that wasn't from the new world translation? How many Bros. and Sisters bring any other translation to the meeting other than the NWT? When a Bible Study is started what translation is given to the student?

Our ministry benefits many in the community. We have helped many people to overcome harmful addictions, such as the abuse of drugs and alcohol. Our literacy classes help thousands around the world to learn to read and write.
True JWs do those things as a result of their preaching work. It must be asked though what the real intent is behind helping people with these problems. Do not JWs help people to read and write using WT publications? Isn't the real goal to create new converts? The same can be said of those with addictions they are given support (by people with no training) as long as they are "growing spiritually". If they stop studying then the support will likely stop as well.

We follow the Bible’s advice to “respect everyone”—regardless of their religious beliefs.Instead, we extend to others the same tolerance that we appreciate receiving from them.
Hard to respect someone that you're saying will be destroyed by God for being wicked and blinded by Satan. Sure JWs would not express those feelings directly to someone's face (or most wouldn't) but it is built into the doctrine. How could you not look down on others when you are taught that you are called by God to be his "special possession"? When taught as a young child that the birds of heaven would feast on the carcasses of the unbelievers?

Control - Whose worse, the JWs or the traditional churches?
by fulltimestudent inwe once experienced, the "you'll die at armegeddon," fear instilled into us as jw's.. was that worse or better than the fear of eternal torment instilled by more conventional religions?.
john spong gives his view.

Asserting control over the afterlife (or lack thereof) is one thing. JWs control the now via the shunning policies, their strict control on information flow and strong phobia indoctrination.
Exactly, Armageddon is not really that scary when you think about it. Most non-religious people believe that we will all die eventually anyway. So whether you die at Armageddon or not makes very little difference. JWs have been ingrained with the idea that they are special but only because of the organization. They fear that if they leave they will lose this special status and become like other "worldlies". They will also lose their JW family and friends. These JWs will reinforce the idea that they have lost something special and are now worthless until they return to the org.

Things JW's and Atheists have in common
by juandefiero ini was just thinking about something someone said on another thread.
to paraphrase, 'jw beliefs like there being no hellfire, immortal soul, the condition at death...have the ring of truth.'.
i realized, atheists believe these things too!.

This evidence- based conviction of both Atheists and wt-believers is a great idea that emerged from this thread. Are atheists not convinced that the Universe made itself, that life is self-started? and they look for, manufacture (not faking) evidence to bolster their conviction, --through scientific research. WT believers bolster their convictions bymanufactured data too. Looking for bible passages to prove their doctrines, adjusting their beliefs to fit new circumstances, Too many anointed, invent the great crowd. Generation of 1914 expired, invent the overlap. If God,s existence, his approval through money is waning,-- dip into real estate sales. dip into kid's ice cream at circus money.
It is true that JWs try to present themselves as more logical and less emotional than other religions (or at least they used to when I was growing up). I believe that is why they are so enamored with a Paradise Earth unlike heaven which is spiritual and mysterious they can present this hope as something everyone can understand. If you look closely though this belief in what is basically a physical heaven is ridiculous. Natural, biological, and physical laws would need to be altered. A belief in heaven where none of those laws take place is more reasonable than a belief in a physical Paradise.
I think most Atheist simply don't see any hard evidence that a God exist so chose not to believe in one. It is not that they are looking for evidence to disprove God. No matter how much knowledge is gained about life's origins it will not disprove the concept of a God. Atheists would argue that lack of evidence is reason enough not to believe.
