I was visiting with my family and it seems the RC was worse than I thought. Now they all seem to think that "We are so close to the end" and that the "Brothers are really preparing us for the GT". Some even saying that soon our message will change to a judgement message for mankind and talking about how we need to improve "everything we do". How does it not sound crazy to them? How do the videos not seem like manipulation? How can they say they we so encouraged by a convention that was basically a threat not to leave JWs or else.

So basically they are admitting that people come back because they want to be with their family. Not because it's the "truth". It's coercion which they actively promote in their literature and videos like this.

It had better production values and actors than the Jesus one that was offensive and on the level of the Mohammad movie a few years ago that everyone was talking about. Anyone notice how in the first few minutes they equate confidence about Jesus with confidence in the WTBTS as having truth? That shepherd was full of zhit.
Yeah, the movie is supposed to be about Jesus right? Somehow they want you to think believing in Jesus = believing in the ORG. Of course out of my family I was the only one who seemed to notice that fact. I also made a few jokes about the narrator and what a bad actor he was everyone else thought he was great. Go figure.

Beliefs About What Caused the Universe
by Perry inthe universe can be observed to be expanding.. an expanding universe must have had a beginning.
whatever begins to exist had a cause.
therefore the universe had a cause.

Maybe it is physically impossible for nothing to exist - for there to ever be absolutely nothing. Maybe existence is the fundamental pillar of reality itself.
Interesting idea, then that would mean that matter or energy has always been around in some form perhaps undergoing cycles of expansion and retraction. Universes dying and being reborn. All speculation of course but still more interesting than having all "the answers" in a little book.

So let me see if I can get the reasoning straight:
Everything that has a beginning has a cause.
The universe had a beginning.
The universe must have had a cause.
The unknown cause must be God.
The God must be a personal God.
The God must be the one described in Christianity.
The God must have inspired 66 books which are now called the Bible.
It all makes logical sense if you start with what you want to believe and work backwards. Just like JWs do with their doctrines.

Do JWs ever doubt that the end is really coming?
by dogon inas a former dubber i had many occasions to doubt that the end was coming.
i was told it was ok to doubt but not to think about it too much and wait on jehovah.
that bull shit lasted until they changed the meaning of generation in 95 and that was the end of that bull shit for me.

I think everyone has doubts sometimes, most JWs simply suppress those doubts with a facade of confidence and thought stopping WT phrases. Since they are always around other JWs the group reinforces the belief that the end is...soon. -

"Death will be no more" - ONLY earthly blessing?
by TheWonderofYou intodays daily text refers to a new?
explanation for doorkeepers that "death will be no more" would only refer to an earthly blessing, because it would be logically according to the text that in heaven no one ever died or death had never been there.
seems like wishful argument for the earthly paradise.. dont forget the 144000 members of the heavenly class that will receive heavenly blessing after death and used for decades rev.

Man dies because he has fallen from grace and is sinful. He must restore his relationship with God through his redeemer Jesus Christ. Dogs and cats die because...hey, who cares they're just dumb animals? LOL

And something from nothing isn't magic? At least with magic you start with a magician. Materialists start with literally nothing. Why isn't this happening now?
We don't know that it was something from nothing, we can only observe our physical universe and come up with models of how the universe formed. Many scientist say that time didn't even exist until the big bang, that the physical and chemical laws that govern the universe didn't exist yet. While that may sound magical it is based on something. The idea of personal God who is outside of our physical universe but still controlling matters isn't based on anything observable. It is a combination of speculation and faith, not evidence. It is my opinion that there will never be a time when man will be able to have all the answers. That's okay we don't need to have them. Saying "I don't know" is better than just making something up.
