For Sunday meetings, I used to have a guy text me NFL game updates. Boy, an iPhone would've been great back then. Tuesdays and Thursdays I could have used a game like yours, though. Instead I spent my meeting time researching WT doctrine and studied my way out of the organization right there in the Hall.

Make meetings pass by quicker
by Cook My Socks UK ini came up with a new game today - certainly made the meeting pass by quickly.
before the meeting i edited all the elders and servants mobile numbers on my phone so that they would'nt get the caller id up(141 in uk).
then, during the meeting i called them all one at a time.

PropagandaTechniques Banned??
by FreeAtLast1914 ini noticed a few days ago that a guy going by the moniker propagandatechniques on youtube was nowhere to be found.
then after a little digging, i saw that his account had been suspended.. he had some good stuff and i generally enjoyed watching his daily rants.. does anyone know what happened to him?.

Thanks. I'll have to PM him to get the skinny on why he was suspended. On the face of it, it seems that he has been counter-attacked by the WT heavy-handed legal department. But I'll have to see.
Thanks again.

Some things that we APOSTATES keep getting wrong. We need some FRESH IDEAS!
by nicolaou injust my opinions of course;.
money:.
a common attitude among ex-jw's is that the watchtower will face collapse only when the money dries up - i disagree.

Time is all that is needed for the WT lose its power. But it will take quite a bit more of it before it fully implodes.
Time produces newer generations of people, and with each generation these kids get more and more accustomed to easy access to information and a life without God and religion. It's already happening, with that Pew Poll showing 2/3 of born-ins leaving the WT.
Time is what it will take for that religion to widdle away into an asterisk in history book. I just hope it's in my lifetime when it happens.

What if JWs are right?!?
by brotherdan ini know this is a pointless question, but what if this happened:.
you came home from work one day, sat down, and turned on the tv.
there is a sudden announcement that the un has banned all religion.

Not plausible. Fit only for a futuristic fictional plot. And last but not least, there is a better chance for my "anointed" Dad waking up to the truth about his religion than the WT EVER being right.
Will the Earth someday plunge into some massive war? Yep, it has before. This is no prophecy. It's simply history repeating itself.
"What if JWs are right?" is a good question. A better question: "Will JWs ever be right about anything?" I'd like to be there when that happens.

Who is AGBM?
by african GB Member inthe purpose of this thread is to tell everyone on this board who i am and why i am so different.. first of all, i have already apologised on another thread for posting zero drivel topics here.. i am a 29 year old male, born-in, baptised in 1998, df'd in 2003 for fornication, reinstated in 2008. i want to make it clear that i have never been a ms. after my reinstatement i continued to attend meetings with the same cong.
but moved to another cong.
earlier this year, reason being, the continued shunning by some hardcore self-righteous publishers.. i am still with the same cong until now, i go to meetings regularly, including taking part as well as giving bible reading talks.

AGBM, this "change" of your perspective is odd in the extreme. I'm having a tough time buying it. I hope it's real, but we'll see. Meanwhile, this standing O is for you. If for nothing else, for the laughs I've had at your expense.
Keep it up. And follow OTWO's advice. Get a bunch of literature and chunk it every chance you get.

For those who saw flaws in Watchtower doctrine and left. Why do you not apply the same standard of examination to your current beliefs?
by nicolaou ini know that many left because of a lack of real love or for other personal reasons.
i would never belittle those reasons for exiting, they are as valid as any other, but if that describes your situation then perhaps this topic might not apply so much to you.. i left the watchtower because i came to realise the doctrine was flawed.
i was in my mid 30's before my mind begin waking up and i started to develop basic critical thinking abilities.

As an agnostic, my current beliefs are fairly fluid. And I hope they always remain so; always willing to reanalyze my positions on issues so as better to understand all viewpoints. I am open and generally respectful of all people's beliefs no matter how much I disagree with them.
I feel that this mindset allows me to debate and discuss anything with anyone who is willing to sit down.
Multiple perspectives are the spice of life.

*** w02 9/15 p. 24 “Salvation Belongs to Jehovah” ***
When national anthems are played, usually all a person has to do to show that he shares the sentiments of the song is to stand up. In such cases, Christians remain seated. If they are already standing when the national anthem is played, however, there is no need for them to take the special action of sitting down. It is not as though they had specifically chosen to stand for the anthem. On the other hand, if a group are expected to stand and sing, then merely standing up out of respect but not singing would not constitute sharing in the sentiments of the song.Jeez, the endless list of specific rules for specific circumstances, even breaking it down by the individual's posture and positioning when the song begins...
Unreal. Is there anything they don't have a rule for?
