My wife and I still read the WT (when her parents give them to her), but only for a good laugh and to see how far they've strayed from true Christianity. But, yes, it is painful at times.

Does anyone find it too painful to read the WTS publications?
by dissed inbeen out 13 years and even for research purposes, i find it way too painful to read this wt stuff.. and why?.
all the painful memories it brings back.
don't misread me, it has nothing to do with a guilty conscience.. it has to do with the real pain, the anger of being ripped off and lied too by the wts, the anger of seing how they have protected child molesters, sacrificed its followers by refusing blood transfusions, the treacherous way we and others were treated by the 'unloving brothers'.

Is the Bible Really Scientifically Accurate?
by FreeAtLast1914 inthe society (and others) love to quote job 26:7 where it says that "[god] suspends the earth over nothing" and isaiah 40:22, where it speaks of "the circle of the earth".
they use these scriptures to boast about the incredible scientific accuracy of the bible, proving god had a direct hand in everything written in it.. the trouble is that elsewhere in the scriptures, opposing views are put forth explaining then-unexplainable physics and geographical notions.
one is job 26:11: "the pillars of heaven tremble.

The Society (and others) love to quote Job 26:7 where it says that "[God] suspends the earth over nothing" and Isaiah 40:22, where it speaks of "the circle of the earth". They use these scriptures to boast about the incredible scientific accuracy of the Bible, proving God had a direct hand in everything written in it.
The trouble is that elsewhere in the scriptures, opposing views are put forth explaining then-unexplainable physics and geographical notions. One is Job 26:11: "The pillars of heaven tremble." Another is Isa 11:12, where it talks about "the four corners of the earth." Job 28:24 speaks of "the ends of the earth." Matthew 4:8 has Satan taking Jesus to an "exceedingly high mountain," so high that he can see all the kingdoms of the earth. Job 38:4-6, Ps 104:5, 1 Sam 2:8 all speak about "the foundations of the earth" or the "pillars of the earth."
In all honesty, how can you treat the Bible as an accurate book of science when it misses the mark so often? It's easy to say that when it goes against science it's to be taken figuratively, but when it agrees with science it must be divinely-inspired.
It's easy for a "believer" to say that, but is it intellectually honest?

Question for still active JW's / Faders
by cantleave indo you still contribute for literature, give to the worldwide work, kingdom hall fund or contribute towards the upkeep of your local kh?
if you do - why?.

No, but I do give to charities now; something no self-respecting JW would ever dream of doing.

It means the things that humor you revolve around dark themes: death, violence, sorrow, pain, etc. If you can make fun of a celebrity's death without remorse or find something humorous about another's suffering, you may have a dark sense of humor.
The reason people with this type of humor stand out is because the rest find it uncomfortable. Too bad for them. Variety is the spice of life, in my book.

Marijuana---Is It That Bad?
by minimus ini've never smoked tobacco or a joint in my life!
i know some regular pot smokers and they're pretty cool people.
they typically say pot is better than alcohol and that it should be completely legal.

Showtime's "Weeds" is a great little series. You have to have an open mind, but that shouldn't be a problem for those on this forum.

What does nicotine feel like?
by Elsewhere ini have never smoked or used any tobacco products aside from puffing on a cigar a few times (maybe 5 times in my life).
even with the few cigar experiences (which i did not enjoy much) i never noticed any real "feeling" from the tobacco.
what is it supposed to feel like?

Cigars are incredible. I have about 2 per month and enjoy every puff. The feeling is soothing and the taste is divine.

I knew I should've stayed in as a Ministerial Servant. By now, I'd have been the greatest inside man of all time! And you guys would be privy to every last letter there was.

Flat Earth Society, Dianetics, Watchtower Society. All examples of men selling horse!@#$ as "truth". Everyone but their followers see it.

Since Leaving The "Truth" Is Your Life Better?
by minimus inyou are told that if you "go back to the vomit" of the world, you will be miserable.. is your life better or worse since you've removed yourself from the organization's hold?.

Igads is a prime example of a truism: Misery loves company. He desperately wants to live a life without the WT, but lacks the nads to make the move. So he vents on forums like this to prop up his lagging sense of self-worth; a move that his own "God-directed" organization forbids.
Nice try. Keep the posts coming. We all deserve a good laugh.

It's like the Matrix, only in reverse; the real life (outside of the Matrix) is the quality one, full of wonder and excitement, hope and real joy, and endless possibilities of what comes next!
