If you believe in the Genesis account, Adam and Eve were it; meaning their children had to hook up for the human family to grow. The WT position on this is that Cain took a sister. But remember, incest was all the rage back then. There was no other way to get laid. Even when there were other choices they sometimes stuck with the family. Don't forget Lot and his two daughters in that cave, how they liquored him up and had their way with him...

I'd like to talk to some ex-JW couples
by Mad Sweeney ini know a few of the guys here started to fade and managed to bring their wives and family along on the exit.
i will be sending some of you a pm or fb message some time soon.. are there any ex-dub ladies here who managed to influence your husband to re-examine and eventually quit the borg?.
it is very difficult to get to the genuine personality of an indoctrinated jw but if anyone can do it, a loving spouse can.

In my case, I left and she decided she would "prove" to me the error of my ways. It worked. Her studies led her right out. Gotta love it!

What's The Worst Thing About Being A Witness?
by minimus infor me, a jehovah's witness does not have a real life!
jw's are like trained soldiers.
they could be fervent or lax or happy or unhappy in their role but they are trained to drone on like stepford wives.. what an utter waste of an existence being a jehovah's witness!.

Wife is on that yellow brick road to the WT.
by trailerfitter inhi, this is my first post on this forum although i have been reading many posts on here.
i feel safe enough to ask your advice and become involved now......from what i have learned about this forum it is occupied by sensible people who have left the watchtower influences for one reason or another.
i am, for want of a better word, a none believer.

I feel for you, Trailerfitter. But theIlluminator is right; you're in for a world of hurt. As someone who was born into that controlled WT world, I can tell you that once the brainwashing is complete new recruits like your wife will view you as an agent of the Devil rather than who you really are.
The only advice I have is to be happy and positive and upbeat around her. Over time that may erode her idea that the "world" is a depressed mess lacking true joy. Show her how happy you are about life. When she tries to get you to go to the meetings, begin asking questions about the Bible or her new beliefs in general. JWs can't handle questions. They will try to change the subject when called on their BS. Don't let her off the hook. Hold her feet to the fire. And the questions don't have to be tough ones, either. Ask simple, pointed questions and you will see the fear (or in some cases disgust) in their eyes.
You will be marked for this, of course, as a dangerous wild man who is controlled by Satan and his minions. Don't let this dissuade you. One of the things you will want to do is to encourage her NOT to go to the meetings. DO NOT DO THIS. It will only confirm in her mind what she is being told, that the Devil is attacking her. It will only shove her deeper inside.
I hate what you're going through, but if you play your cards right the chances of her seeing what she'd involved in, a high-controlled cult, should improve.

What Is It That Really Troubles the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by orangefatcat inwell i think what worries them the most is that more and more witnesses are becoming free thinkers and that is troubling them, it worries them that thinking freely will cause them to seek answers elsewhere and that is the last thing the gb wants.
they have pulled the reins so tight now how much tighter can they pull before many witnesss crack under their yokes.
what is your thoughts on this matter.. .

In a word: Internet.
It will be their ultimate undoing. It has shed a massive spotlight on their history, which they hoped they could revise into some fairytale of their own creation. It will (and already has) force them to change their course. It connects people who were previously isolated. It facilitates sharing ideas and stirs debate which gets people to think, and thinking is another thing the WT hates.
Yes, the internet is what keeps them up at night.

Very limited contact with JW family since we stopped going to meetings. How do we handle this? We have left the door open to any and all discussions regarding our stance. We will never judge them for making the stand they have made because we realize their stand isn't really their stand; it's the GB's stand and they blindly follow along.
We simply hope that they will wake up as we have and we can all have a grand reunion. Odds of that happening: Slim to none.

To Dissassociate or just Fade into Inactivity ? Your Choice ? Reasons ?
by flipper inthis has been asked before, however i thought it may be good for newer members of the board to read some of our reasons on how we decided to exit the jw cult and why we decided to do it the way we did.. first off - i have been faded for almost 8 years.
essentially i decided to fade into inactivity and not da because i have elderly jw parents who would shun me if i did get dfed or daed myself.
also- i like keeping open the possibilities that some of my many jw relatives may in time start doubting and have questions and reach out to me in my inactive state.

My wife and I went with the quick-fade over DA simply because of our entire family on both sides being hardcore JWs. Most will not speak to us since we stopped attending meetings, but there are still a few holdouts who hope we'll come back.
The great part is the second generation coming of age (neices and nephews); several of which we hope will learn the truth about their religion in flee. If so, they will have a welcome landing pad in our home.

Surviving and escaping a cult grants the advantage of seeing religions for what they are, rather than what we wish they were. Once you've lived under a dictatorship that exerts enormous control of your every move, freedom is something that you will never let go of.

Stupid rules
by MrFreeze inthere was no end to the amount of stupid rules put in place.
one that always bugged me was "no shirts with slogans when doing kh yard work or at jw gatherings.
id always get talked to about it when i'd wear shirts with a band on it or whatnot.

One Hall I went to banned cowboy boots on stage. They gave a local needs on the benefits of wearing only white dress shirts as opposed to those worldly blue and black ones. Also if you were a MS, you HAD to comment at least once per meeting; failing to do so would result in a visit to the backroom and possible removal.
How did it take me 30 years to see through this BS???

I remember the slogan rule, and the elders pretty well kept up with enforcing it. Looking back, it probably had something to do with the Society not getting a cut for their people advertising products.
No beards was always an odd rule to me.
